Early Shift w/ Jill DeVries
Last week AIGA West Michigan hosted an event here at The Forest. Inspired by the Creative Morning events, AIGA calls their rendition "Early Shift."
So, early last Friday a bunch of creatives, vendors, design enthusiasts gathered to listed to Jill talk about her work, her process, and her path. The third of which, I personally found the most inspiring.
She said, "stop looking on line and getting jealous of people. Don't get bitter. Get better. Look to your life for inspiration." Of which is something I've always believed in. So after the talk, I pulled her aside and had a little chat.
"Have you ever heard the song "Get off the internet" by Le Tegre?" I asked her.
"No. But I like it already."
So, Jill here's the song:
The point of this, and I think our work in general. Is to get out, experience the world and find inspiration in unexpected places. And don't worry about what other people are doing. Just make sure you are doing something.
Thanks Jill for the inspiration. We appreciated it.
Check out Jill DeVries work here.

Art for Water
Art for Water is a silent auction of the artwork from local area artists as well as work from artists around the country, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Philippines Typhoon Relief. Art for Water will open to the public at 7:00 p.m. and entry fee donations will be accepted at the door. Other activities planned for the non-profit event include a raffle of local products and services as well as live music later in the evening.
Art for Water was inspired by the reality of the Great Lakes area’s water-rich ecosystem and the clean fresh water it provides daily to businesses and residences. The profits from Art for Water will be used to help purchase water filters that will be provided by Wine to Water™, a non-profit, 501(c) (3) international aid organization based in Boone, N. C. Wine to Water will match the donations from this benefit event.
Wine to Water is focused on providing clean water and sanitation to people in need around the world. Nearly 800 million people in the world today lack access to adequate water and 2.5 billion people lack access to improved sanitation. The goal of Wine to Water is to give the fortunate population an opportunity to fight for those who can’t fight for themselves.
