I think another reason that "joy as an act of resistance" quote coming from white folk gives me the ick is because whenever WE do just that, show our joy as an act of resistance, we are policed for that.

We create characters that look like us and you infiltrate our spaces to harass us off the internet. Black kids play the music they love and gain joy from too loud, they get shot or y'all want them arrested for inconveniencing you. Black people put on carnivals and barbeques and bands, y'all call the cops on us and call us disrespectful and poorly raised. We dance on trains and on streets and all around the world to express our own freedom of movement within the space that, again, could have us destroyed at any point, and y'all want us to "stop annoying you bc you have Real Things to do and Places To Be".

It's almost like you recognize my joy in living, is in resisting YOU as part of the larger system and you don't like that. My joy actually causes a disruption! But somehow YOUR joy is anti the system... That oppresses my expression of joy. Mkay.

“Public libraries are such important, lovely places!” Yes but do you GO there. Do you STUDY there. Do you meet friends and get coffee there. Do you borrow the FREE, ZERO SUBSCRIPTION, ZERO TRACKING books, audiobooks, ebooks, and films. Have you checked out their events and schemes. Do you sign up for the low cost courses in ASL or knitting or programming or writing your CV that they probably run. Do you know they probably have myriad of schemes to help low income families. Do you hire their low cost rooms if you need them. Have you joined their social groups. Do you use the FREE COMPUTERS. Do you even know what your library is trying to offer you. Listen, the library shouldn’t just exist for you as a nice idea. That’s why more libraries shut every year

it's very surreal to see posts about palestine dwindling down after the ceasefire. israel is still blocking aid to and trying to make life difficult for palestinians in gaza. we still have to continue to speak up about gaza.

in this ceasefire, many palestinians are trying to rebuild in attempts to try and return to what they had before the genocide. despite the heavy and unbearable loss of life that gaza has experienced, her people continue to try to make a better world for their children.
