He smiled when she said the girl’s name was priscilla. “That’s kind of an unfortunate name.” He always thought so, prissy being in his head when he heard it.once he was done singing, he could tell that she liked his performance. “And my music taste? Does that pass too?” Adam thought the girl was cute, and he always aimed to impress.

“My thoughts exactly, although granted I am not the biggest fan of my own name either.” Frankie replied, shrugging at the boy. Sometimes she questioned if her parents were even thinking when they named her. “Yes, Halsey is pretty decent, so for now you pass.”

“Who played the wicked witch?” He wasn’t all that curious but he liked talking to her. “Okay.. um…” He thought for a moment before settling on an acoustic version of Halsey’s song called ghost. 

“A girl named Priscilla. “ Frankie replied, shrugging at him. She wasn’t the biggest fan of the girl, but they’d made things work. Frankie listened to the boy’s performance and couldn’t help but swoon. “Wow, you’re talented.”

“Don’t tell me you played Dorothy… I may swoon.” He put a hand on his chest over his heart in a playful manner. “I do take requests if you’d like to hear something specific.”

“Of course I played Dorothy.” Frankie replied, letting out a soft laugh. “I’d rather you play whatever you’re feeling. I like to get to know people’s music tastes.”

“Musical theatre.. Like Wicked?” Adam was curious to know if he knew anything she played in. “Well, it can be but you have to promise not to fall in love with me if I sing to you.”

“Yes, like Wicked. Although, I did Wizard Of Oz.” Frankie replied, smiling at the boy. “I am not sure I can promise that if you sing for me. So sing at your own risk.”

“Well, there’s something. Are you any good?” He smiled at her but cocked his head at her final comment. “Does that mean you want to me play something for you? Are you hitting on me?” Adam was cute enough but being transgender and a bit of a loser didn’t help him get any dates. 

“I don’t think I am good enough to become famous or anything, but I have dabbled in musical theatre.” Frankie replied, sending Adam a small smile. She didn’t like to brag, but she did think she was fairly talented. “Why can’t it be a little of both?” She added, winking at the boy.

“I appreciate that. Do you play any instruments?” Idle conversation wasn’t difficult for Adam like it had been before- especially before his transition. “Maybe if you’re really nice to me, I’ll play you something some time.”

“I wish that I could, but I’ve never really had the patience to sit down and learn. I have been having choral lessons since I was young though.” Frankie replied, shrugging at Adam. “I’ll have you know, I am nice a lot of the time.”

I guess sometimes I forget that not everyone grew up how I did. Now if the school could just get a chocolate fountain, that would be great.

Honestly, it probably wouldn’t be that hard for me to convince him. I’ll just say that it will look good for his re-election campaign and then convince him that it was his idea.

I used to think going to a school with rich kids would be a bad thing. But when I saw that indoor pool being built and those smoothie machines, I changed my tune. Shout out to ya’ll folks for helping us poor kids pretend to be loaded.

I wish they’d fix the structural problems while they are at it. Maybe I need to get my dad to donate some money or something.
