Everyone Leaves Alive is a musical audio drama about a touring rock band that secretly solves monster-related problems, created by Jessica Best, the writer and executive producer of The Strange Case of Starship Iris and a staff writer on Unwell and World Gone Wrong, with instrumentation and music production by Chiron Star.

Okay you know what, I do have another thing to add about audio fiction and how important it is, especially now. You know, during *gestures broadly around*

The thing about audio fiction is that they can't take it down.

Books can be pulled off the store shelves and publishers can flat-out refuse to give space to new ones that don't fit their side of the current political climate. Video streaming services can and already have gone even further by entirely scrubbing media they don't like from the only places that had rights to distribute them -- if not for piracy, shows like Infinity Train would be gone gone. I expect we will see much more of this type of behavior in coming years.

With audio fiction podcasting, the default is a decentralized, self-published, free to access platform. They can't very well take down a whole hosting service, and any show they go after can just be re-uploaded under a new RSS feed. (If you're a creator, please look into the basic principles of self-hosting, just in case.) Although we probably won't need to take any of those measures, because since there's no money that capitalists can extract from this art form,

They don't even know we exist. Be as queer as you want. Be as progressive and inclusive as you want. Be as anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, anti-racist, anti-fascist as you want. Tell stories that are important, that people with power wouldn't want you to tell. They won't find us, not here.

Hey there! I'm in a bit of a bind representation wise and hoping you could give me/point me in the direction of recommendations.

I'm Black(Nigerian) and (non SAM)ace/aroace* and I loved the Silt Verses and trying to find something to give me that same high with an aroace poc main character. Doesn't even have to be Black, I'll take asian,arab,native etc. Most of the aroace mcs I've come across are either white, or "raceless project HC on" voiced by white VAs and I still love them but eh you know?

I'm looking for Horror(especially cosmic/lovecraftian, body horror, occult horror), darker/gritty, sci-fi & fantasy. If possible minimal romance like TSV

So tldr; BIPOC podcast with an adult BIPOC aroace mc(not wanting to get too ambitious here mayhaps even multiple aroaces 👀) of the horror/darker sff variety...and Yes I'm already on the InCo train😅.

There's a wonderful list here by acepodcastweek, though this isn't a list of protagonists, just characters in general, who are ace and bipoc. I believe some of them are protagonists or recurring characters, I'm not sure about all of them.

I'm all about queer representation and BIPOC representation, AS a person of color myself, but I don't agree with your post in regards to the sexiest podcast character poll. Waving Mari's ethnicity like that in a poll about sexiness comes off as racial fetishization and it's really gross.

I dunno, it's really weird to deny a fat woman her sexiness or a Filipina woman her sexiness or a queer woman her sexiness given that I am all three of these 🤨 like are you saying I'm fetishizing myself, anonymous person?

Ask yourself why it bothers you that a fat queer Filipina would perhaps have a reason to continue reminding people that her sexiness is worthy of attention.

Moreover, ask yourself why you're saying all this on anonymous rather than taking responsibility for your own statement as a person of color accusing a brown woman of fetishizing herself, rather than seeing it as a brown woman taking control of her own sexuality and attractiveness through the lens of the character she purposely made to look like someone whose dark skin and fat body were both considered unattractive.

I designed Mari to have dark skin because I've been told all my life dark skin is ugly and I disagreed. I designed Mari to be fat because I've been told all my life being fat is ugly and I disagreed. I designed Mari to be queer because I love being queer. I designed Mari to be Filipino because I wanted to bring Filipino culture to the fore in a genre full of white guys from the US or UK.

It isn't lost on me that this is coming after I've pointed out that a character with seemingly no real human features who was described as trans when he's not trans shouldn't be considered sexier than a character that might represent millions of people who are dark skinned or fat or Filipino.

Accusing me of fetishism for having to make my own affirming representation of a sexy character that looks like me is transparently hateful. It's why you sent it anonymously instead of standing by your statement.

If you hate the fact that I've stated that a fat dark skinned Filipina character is sexy, consider why you ignored the other parts of her identity and assumed fetishism from an ACTUAL FILIPINA AUTHOR.

"You're fetishizing yourself and that's gross" yeah pull the other one.
