botw/totk link is the character of all time. he's the destined hero handpicked by the goddess. he's too anxious to speak. he's the princess's sworn protector, friend and partner. he has eaten rocks. he could best an adult man in combat by the age of four. he's befriended every leader in hyrule. he has tony hawk vibes so strong nobody else ever recognises him. he invented pizza. he can smite a lynel in 20 seconds. he's 4'10". he's even nonbinary

I’m glad more people are respecting botw/totk Link as an actual character with some level of depth, but, I think too many of you are forgetting the kinda person he was after losing his memories.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s playful, and especially good with kids.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is HORRIBLE at flirting, or probably only does it as a joke and isn’t serious about it. Might even say things that are inappropriate sometimes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
just a general smartass.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s bashful. He breaks the stoic demeanor when told he looks cute in his new outfit or is asked if he has a crush on someone lol.
Other things Link has done that I couldn’t find images of but do actually happen:
- Scamming a creep into giving him his shoes.
- (botw) Trying to actually for real use the “but I’m over 100” excuse at a bar when he was 17, and completely failing at it.
- Drank what is essentially hyrule’s equivalent to sunscreen.
- Actually enjoys eating rocks
When people try to analyze Link’s character, I notice that they try to brush off depictions if his character that are more “silly goofy guy” as ooc, when those interpretations are still actually based in canon evidence.
Even Creating a Champion describes him as “more lively” after waking up. Mipha’s journal mentions he was more happy and extroverted as a young child, implying that he likely became that way due to trauma, but still probably has those playful tendencies.

🦈 overprotective sidlink headcanons🗡
being protective is in link's nature as a knight, but after the events of totk (losing zelda, watching sidon marry yona) that man is balls to the walls mental over losing sidon
we know already that sidon is overprotective & has abandonment issues from losing mipha, he's constantly thinking what if something happens if he's not around or not strong enough to keep people safe
sidon loves being reckless w link but he can't bear link doing dangerous things without him
when link comes back wounded sidon always gets so anxious he could cry (and he does)
they def fight over this, sidon wants to go on missions with link but link can't risk anything happening to sidon
none of the royal guards want to spar with either of them in fear of the other's wrath
sometimes sidon looks down at his sage ring and he thinks to his avatar "if you don't keep him safe i don't care if you're me i WILL drown you"
meanwhile link is irrationally protective of sidon's avatar and has more than once dived in front of him to take an electric arrow...
I can't stop thinking about overprotective feral knight/prince....

Still think it’s funny that Will Graham asked Hannibal’s THERAPIST if he’s in love with him, brother he was penetrating you in his kitchen while you moaned into his shoulder like a whore???

I've been playing Tears of the Kingdom while my husband plays Breath of the Wild, and I just can't stop musing about Wild!Link's canon trauma, both medical and emotional. Specifically, Link's memory loss and the way it would be a trauma unto itself.
What if Link, especially early on when recovery is just beginning, mixes up the names of the Champions and the Sages? What if he remembers something that happened with the Champions as happening with the Sages, and vice-versa?
What if Link struggles to keep them separate in his mind when he's dealing with memory slips and PTSD? What if the Sages have learned to respond to the names of the Champions without thinking, because Link is trying so hard to adjust to life with the after-effects of a traumatic brain injury? What if he can't stop grieving because his mind won't stop mixing everything up? It gets harder when the Sages start wielding the Champion's weapons, or if one of them dresses in blue for the day.
After the Upheaval, Link wakes up on the sky islands, alone with nothing but the ghost of a dead king and a plateau that he cannot leave without falling to his death. Does he panic? Does he think, oh Hylia, I thought I was safe, but it's happened again? Rauru can't give him details. Rauru doesn't know how much time has passed. Zelda isn't there. Link is alone, again. He thinks he has all his memories this time, but does he? How much time has passed, what has he forgotten now?
When Link reaches the surface, when he makes it to Lookout Landing, does he break down? Does he confide in Purah or someone else that he thought he'd lost everyone again? That he would find out that all his friends are dead, again? That he didn't dare hope there would be anyone left for him to come home to?

Sometimes I open Ao3 as one would a fridge in the middle of the night. Hungry, but not willing to commit to anything that is in there and hopping a miracle will make something new and appetising appear out of thin air if only I close it and open again.
