First thought on Loki Season 2 Episode 6

(after OMG YAY HORNS!!!,finally!!!):

I think I liked it? I think it made up for all the crappy bits that came before?

I am very definitely glad that neither Lokius nor Sylki were endgame. Sorry, guys (yeah, I suck).

The timeline becoming Yggdrasil was cool.

Loki evolving into a better god was nice, I think… maybe

I think I’m OK with this ending. I may change my mind tomorrow.

OK, no leather, but at least there were horns, I really hated that damn TVA suit thing. Horns alone may pacify me.

S2 E1 first impressions:

This is a dance. It's interesting… it might work… the hair flips have gone too far, they are meticulously choreographed, every move he makes is made to fit a pattern- not so much to act a part. I am not sure what I think of it, not yet.

The dialog is almost poetry, not natural at all, but it fits together.

This is very obviously a different director and crew from what we had for S1.

It makes me think of some sort of experimental early 1970s artsy sci-fi, if that makes sense? This could be very interesting-or it could descend to levels of sucking never before imagined… I want to see where it goes.

I’ve long given up character continuity. This is not 2012 Loki, or any other Loki. This is purely TVA Loki, and that’s fine. I’m over being disappointed, I'm fine with this new character now. He does not take anything away from OG Loki.

they took the comics - the comics that are the visualization of Ragnarok, the visualization of the show itself in universe - they took those... and had him throw them in the trash. they... they actually took their own story AND the myths it was built on and threw them.... into the trash....

i... i'm honestly still speechless... how do you... didn't they like... think about this? was this an accident??? were they so dedicated to their 'growing up' message that they completely ignored everything else? are they actually telling us that the story they told is worthless???

Unsolicited opinions and speculation:

I didn’t much like season one, with the exception of episode 5, and I liked the character Hunter-B15. Was happy to see her in the trailer. I hope they don’t do something stupid with her. I love her, she has the potential of being the baddest of good-guy badasses with a past.

I deal with the changes in the Loki character by just mentally separating him into different characters. So there’s Original Loki (my very fav), Ragnarok Loki (not to be confused with Laurits Loki, who is my second fav 🪱), and TVA Loki ( I could go on with comic book versions, Norse Mythology and other depictions, but I'm choosing not to, lol).

TVA Loki does not negate Original Loki for me, so it's all good. For me, anyway. I do understand the outrage and disappointment. I would have loved more Original Loki, too 😕.

Anyway… I also loved Kang, but the actor had to go and be a dickhead and spoil everything. He is in the trailer, I wonder if that’s because they included him in that mid-credit scene and just kept the one appearance, or if we will still be seeing him? Maybe it's another red herring in the trailer and he’s been completely cut? Dumbass, talented actor guy 😕.

Then Sylvie… She is not a favorite of mine, and I will not go off on a rant. The trailer didn’t show as much of her as I would have expected, though. But then, the season one trailer omitted a lot of stuff and threw in some red herrings as well. Who knows? Hoping she will go away. She won't, but I can hope, lol.

The Ke Huy Quan character worries me. There’s been so much hype. His voice in the trailer makes me cringe… hoping he doesn't slip into Jar Jar Binx territory. Hopefully, that's just a bad first impression, the idea of the character looks cool. I want it to work.

Tragic lack of green leather in the trailer 😭. Please be a hidden surprise! And the awful beige suit, which is the Middle Aged Car Salesman Loki costume, seems to have survived 😕. Make it go away.

Hair… <sigh> I get it, the actor is losing his hair and hates wearing wigs or extensions. I’m not going to be an asshole and whine about it. We’ll always have the movies.

So the Loki-Stan in me is squealing with delight, but the more rational part of me is apprehensive. It's not “my” Loki, but it's “a” Loki. How can more Loki be a bad thing?

Oh! And I hope there's another scene involving goats! I’m weird that way, it's a great party trick. Or maybe a Svadilfari character 😈. Trying to make the best of a hopeless situation 😂.

Meh. The further I get from season 1 the more the Sylvie thing bugs me. For a female protagonist/antagonist they had an opportunity to do Lady Loki or Amora, which would have been cool.

For a love interest Sigyn would have been good-I’m partial to Angrboda, but I’d have been perfectly happy with an in character Sigyn. The problem with Sigyn or Angrboda is that they would undoubtedly ruin the character, so maybe it's better this way.

The whole narcissist in love with himself bugs me the most. This has been asked multiple times, but did they see the same movies I did?

Not to be an anti but goddamnit I hate Sylki.

Were you really almost going to work on the Loki show? I heard that once and thought I’d ask. You would have made it spectacular.

No, I never was.

Back in about 2010 I was approached by Marvel TV, and they screened the (still unfinished) Thor film and asked me to write and create the format for a Young Thor animated series that would come out after the first Thor movie. I suggested a series with a Thor who's already a nascent hero but with a young Loki who is trying to be good and idolises his big brother Thor and slowly Goes To The Bad over a couple of seasons, so we got to give him the character arc, and the reply I got was that all the characters had to be exactly the same as they were in the movie, just younger, and I told them I wasn't interested if I couldn't have people change, and that was the end of it.
