Go back…back.” Disclaimer for the dudebros who’ll make a thing out of this: when you discover a cultural scene (like punk) dominated by women and in which men’s work isn’t taken seriously and room is denied to male fans and participants, then you can have a cry about how this isn’t fair or equal.

If it seems like Kathleen Hanna is taking away the rights of men here and giving them to women, it’s because the men in the room walked in with an excess of rights to begin with. This is what equality looks like, and that’s the real reason so many men are terrified of it.  Equality cannot happen without a complete overhaul of the system. It isn’t enough to just say you like and support women.
