In my isolation dream, I tied myself to a tree. I stayed there with my head shrouded alone in a deep dark wood. I could no longer walk back to civilization. I had taken the branches and beat my legs until they were bruised. The tree began to grow over the flesh of my hands and face. Encapsulating my existence, and further isolating my own thoughts from everything else in the world. When I succeeded at breaking the branches from my connective points, the deep dark wood lured me back in. I wanted to be tied to my tree again...shrouded and alone in the deep dark wood. Only to do it again. The Dark Winter. Sacrifice. The first time we ever did this edition, it was almost cancelled last minute. Something traumatic happened. I was left to the internal wolves. I wrote the Members ViP show in one night forcing myself to. My fellow performers suggested that I continue with the show as it may help me to release. A lethargic body weighed me down as I sat in my chair at my desk in front of the editing window. Somehow I took everything that I felt and finished it. My heart is left on the plate. After we did this show I felt like I could let the past go. I had a death...and then a rebirth. Just like how the last scene plays out metaphorically. The morning after we did that show, I found out someone I know almost died. During our show, they were resurrected. I didn’t realize how powerful a connection in the universe could feel. The timing was remarkable. There have been so many other magical moments whether strange, frightening, or rejoicing that happen around The House of Red Velvet ever since it started. I think that is why I like to refer to it as a pulsating organ. It is in the universe’s vibration. 🖤 Sacrifice. Rebirth.
