He looked exactly as he did when he was their enemy. What reason did she have to believe his intentions were any better than they once were?
“I haven’t heard from them or seen them,” she said, fingers slipping around the edges of her digivice. “And nothing in particular brought me here, I just...” Well, something had prompted her to check this area. She couldn’t call it anything but intuition. That wasn’t much of an answer.
“What do you mean, what’s happened out here? And what exactly are your intentions, if I’ve misjudged them so much?”
His words made her think he was implying something was wrong here; if he really wasn’t an enemy, he would tell her what so she could take care of it. That was her duty, after all. That of protector, that of judge.

“Nice to meet you too, Sora,” she said with a grin, shaking the other’s hand. “And yeah, follow me! I know all the good spots around here,” Izumi added with a wink, beginning to walk.
Tipping her head back and giving a little groan, she continued to respond. “It’s sooo tiring sometimes. I love it but I’m practically nocturnal now. Plus, my line of work gets tons of assholes like him lurking around.”
Tilting her head again, this time to look at Sora, she added, “I’m a dancer at one of the strip clubs around here. It’s fun and keeps me in shape, but it does have its share of nuisances.”
Slowing her steps and pointing across the street at the brightly lit corner, she added, “We’re almost there! It’s that place right there.”
Cleaning the Streets
Sora grumbled under her breath, feeling the slight sting of the punch. It felt nice in a way, to get out the pent up frustrations on some loser with bad intentions. Clapping her hands together a couple times, she turned back to the other girl. Come to think of it, a drink sounded damn good right about now. “Yeah, no problem. Disgusting people they are, man it pisses me off. I could definitely go for one too. Bad day, huh?  Well, nothing a little alcohol and fun can’t fix.”
Tumblr media
Sora cracked a small smile, extending her hand to the blonde. Running into somebody like her was a great change of pace. She didn’t just sit down and take it from anyone. The redhead admired that, reminding her of herself in a way. “Nice to meet you Izumi. I’m Sora Takenouchi. Lead the way. You work a night shift job around here? It must be exhausting working so late.”

It had been too long since she’d come to the Digital World, but that wasn’t unusual for her. Not even the feeling of being watched when she was here was uncommon. But something felt different, even if she couldn’t pinpoint it.
She spun as a voice from long ago addressed her, gaze locking onto a form she never thought she’d see.
Years had passed, that much was obvious. Izumi had changed with them. Could she really be surprised the years had changed Cherubimon, too?
Still--it was unfortunate they’d changed him into this again.
“Yeah, doesn’t sound like it’s a pleasure,” she quipped back, hand on her D-Scanner in anticipation of a fight. “You know, we worked so hard to fix this world. I thought once you got back to full strength you’d want the same.”

 @thehurricanesforce liked for a starter
This was an unexpected surprise. Not that Cherubimon was expecting the spirits chosen warriors to return to the Digital World at all, but this particular one, the warrior of wind, he was surprised to see.
Last time he had seen the girl he’d just been reborn as Lopmon, so Cherubimon had a few memories of playing with her, but he couldn’t remember a lot of details. Her name, for instance, was escaping him. He kept his distance, observing differences in her than what he remembered.
Tumblr media
Cherubimon was certain that she knew she was being watched by now and revealed himself, “Well, well, if it isn’t the warrior of wind. A pleasure to see you again.” His dark tone sounded anything but welcoming.

“The lighter something is, the easier it is to darken it.” ― Bruce Crown, How Dim the Promised Land
Heroes. Saviors. Champions and upholders of justice. All names the Digidestined have heard before, in reference to themselves. But what if they weren’t the heroes? What if they had become something else, had taken a trip to the opposite end of the spectrum?
Dark Digidestined Roleplay explores the fallen, takes the dark crevices in each hero’s soul and brings them to the forefront. Will you join the former champions of good now that they’ve journeyed down?
Because after all, even the light flirts with darkness.

“Ah! What the fuck you mad bitch!”
Izumi turned her head, blinking a few times as she registered the other young woman and the man now clutching his face and turning tail. Watching him run off with a scoffed, “Good riddance,” Izumi turned her attention to the redhead. Sure, she could’ve handled it by herself, but it was always nice to have support in these sorts of situations. It felt pretty amazing, actually.
So she smiled. “Hey, nice job. Thanks for that. You wanna grab a drink with me? I’ve had a bad day and boy do I need one.” She had gotten off a little early, so some bars were sure to still be open. There was a place nearby that probably knew her by name by now. Thinking of names...
“I’m Izumi Orimoto, by the way,” she added, very welcome to the idea of making friends with this stranger who had come to her defense. At the very least it would be nice to know her name, too.
Cleaning the Streets
It was pretty late, but Sora didn’t really feel like calling it a night yet. Sighing to herself, she set to walking along to no place in particular. She stopped at a small convenience store, grabbing a small energy drink. Popping the top and downing it pretty quickly, she didn’t have any plans and needed something to do.
Hearing a small scuffle, she was curious and decided to check it out. She saw a girl, who was in a pretty nice outfit getting harassed. If there was thing Sora didn’t stand for, it was assholes who liked to pick on girls. Her blood was boiling, and she went to fishing for her keys. Looping the lanyard around her wrist a couple times and slipping the keys in between her fingers with her off hand, she approached.
Tumblr media
It looked like she had it under control, but someone else had something to say about it. It had been a long time since she got to punch a creep in the face, and this was an opportunity she wasn’t about to miss. She ran forward, slamming her fist into the other guy’s jaw. Growling a couple choice curse words, she stared him down, standing at the girl’s back. “Back off, or you’ll fucking regret it.”

Cleaning the Streets
@hatesrevenge
Yes, Izumi looked amazing in this outfit. No, she did not need some stranger on the street commenting about it. He kept trying to talk to her, and ignoring him clearly wasn’t working.
So she turned around, bringing her knee up as she did so, in order to ram it directly into his stomach. He doubled over, but unfortunately for her, he got his wind back quickly. Izumi didn’t even turn around this time when he made a grab for her, she just rammed her elbow backwards. Judging from the cursing, she’d landed a successful hit.
She hadn’t wanted to make a scene on the street. People were staring now, and Mr. Asshole over here was saying something about assault. But it had been a long, bad day at work, and she was not in the mood for any more men.

Trouble in Mayapple: Izumi
Being home sick was the worst. She’d been looking forward to going to the Mega Stone Showcase, but her fever hadn’t broken in time. Instead she found herself holed up in her bedroom in her Lantana Villa apartment, watching the news and killing time until Hemlock’s speech was broadcasted.
Just as it was starting, however, the video feed cut off. She frowned, flicking a few channels before trying again. Nothing. She turned the TV off and on again. Nothing. Seconds before a groan escaped her, a slightly flustered reporter from outside the exhibition hall appeared.
“There appears to have been an attack on the Mega Stone Showcase--I’m sorry, the attack is still in progress--nobody is getting in or out of the center. We will keep you updated as the situation develops.”
Maybe it was a good thing she was home sick today...

He simply stood in the shadows and watched the other. (Like the stalker that he is)
Izumi was on her way home from work, not too long a walk, but certainly one most young ladies wouldn’t like to take at night. Shoulders back and head held high, however, she continued down the street as if she didn’t feel a pair of eyes watching her. It hardly mattered. She could kick their ass if they bothered her, after all.

When the Lights Go Out (Flashback)

She had no desire to say I told you so. She just wished it hadn’t happened. How could you trust that monster? It had been so easy for her to refuse, but--she wasn’t the one with a brother who lay dying, was she?
“M-maybe it’ll go away?”
It would never go away. She knew that, somewhere deep down.
“I’m sorry...I’m so, so sorry...I should have--” Stopped him? How?
So she just hugged him closer.
When the Lights Go Out (Flashback)
“That was a dirty trick,” he finally said, having stumbled with her all the way here. She was crying, and he didn’t know how to comfort her. He was the one who couldn’t see, yet she was heartbroken over it. But he–he was tearing up too.
Tumblr media
“I knew I shouldn’t have trusted that thing,” he muttered, clenching his jaw. “Is this some stupid joke? ‘An eye for an eye’?”

An ugly choked sensation overcame her. “You can’t see,” she whispered, finally giving voice to what she didn’t wish to accept. But she had to hold it together, just a little while longer. It was her responsibility to get Kouji to his big brother.
Izumi pushed forward into the crowd, shoving people aside who didn’t automatically evade the crying girl. It took her longer than she wanted to take the stairs, but they were careful, one step at a time.
When the pair reached Kouichi’s door, Izumi finally let the sobs win as she threw her arms around the friend she’d somehow grown closest to.
When the Lights Go Out (Flashback)
“Izumi…” He took a deep breath, before he continued. “I can’t see, can I? It’s not dark in here. I just can’t see, right?”
Tumblr media
Somehow, his throat’s choking up, and he knew why. A deal with the literal Digimon Devil? There was no way this didn’t come with a large price. Still, if it was for his brother, he didn’t mind.
“Alright, let’s go. Let me just hold onto you. Go. I’ll handle it.”

She knew all that, she knew, but that didn’t make it any better. Izumi was fast reaching inconsolable, but she fought past the sob building in her throat to offer what she could.
“L-let me take you to him, then. I don’t think you’ll be able to get there on your own...” She couldn’t say it. She couldn’t say it, not out loud, not to him; it was too cruel. “I’ll try to make sure you don’t bump into anything.”
She wanted to pretend it was temporary, that once this healing ability got used up on his brother that he would see again. Somehow she knew that wasn’t how a deal with Lucemon would work.
So she took his hand in hers and gave a gentle tug to lead him out of the elevator. “We need to hurry. The stairs might be a little tricky, but--” But they had to get to Kouichi, didn’t they? If this sacrifice was going to be worth anything, it had to serve its purpose of saving him.
When the Lights Go Out (Flashback)
               “He’s dying!”
Tumblr media
“My brother is somewhere out there dying! I couldn’t let this opportunity slip by! Even if it had consequences–I need to be able to make sure he’ll be safe!” he snapped, clenching his fists as he did. He lowered his head shamefully.
“I asked for healing abilities. What if we got here and Kouichi needed something that the doctors couldn’t give him? I was scared, Izumi. I can’t lose him.” The chance of his brother slipping through his fingers, after working all this time to get to him, had terrified him to the core. Why wouldn’t the world be that cruel? He knew he needed a way to make sure Kouichi made it through.

She frowned, not entirely sure what he could mean. “Everything’s where it’s supposed to be,” she said. She stood there for a moment, staring at him, stumped. But then she tried waving her hand in front of his eyes.
“Kouji. You didn’t--you couldn’t have--what did he offer you?”
Izumi hadn’t cried during their time in the Digital World. She’d held it together, because she had to. But she had thought that she wouldn’t have to anymore, and now, tears were finally threatening.
“Why!?”
When the Lights Go Out (Flashback)
“…Izumi, we can’t be in the station. There’s nothing here.” He turned his head from side to side, but even that didn’t help. There was just nothing. It was like having his eyes closed, except they were open.
Tumblr media
“How can we be in the station with nothing here? He’s tricked us.” Hadn’t he? There was nothing but darkness around them, and Izumi didn’t seem to notice. She wasn’t even close enough to be seen. “How can I find Kouichi like this?”

Izumi just smiled at the change of subject, nodding along at his suggestion. “That sounds wonderful.” Their duty to the Digital World may have finished, but she knew that they would remain friends. It made all the trials worth it.
She started to follow the others out of the elevator, but paused when Kouji didn’t follow. “What’s wrong?” she asked. “Aren’t you coming? I figured you’d be in the biggest hurry.” They still had to find a way to save Kouichi, didn’t they?
“Come on, let’s go.” How long was he going to stand there looking confused? “You’ve seen the station before, hurry it up!” Him just standing there was a little unnerving, honestly. Had something gone wrong, even when it was so close to being over?
He hadn’t...actually made a deal with Lucemon, had he?
When the Lights Go Out (Flashback)
“God, that hurt,” he grunted, holding onto Izumi for support. The others weren’t registering in his mind, because it felt like it was turning to mush. “I hate that thing. If he ever comes back, I swear I’ll put him in a blender.”
Tumblr media
“Hey, now that we’re going home, I should show you this cafe by my house. You’d love it,” he said, trying to lighten the mood at least a little. All of them pile into the elevator, which shoots up and finally dings when they reach the main floor.
Except Kouji doesn’t exit the elevator, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Everything’s dark, but he can hear the people outside, and that just doesn’t make sense at all. That’s not exactly normal.

Wording was everything when it came to a deal with the devil, and Kouji had picked the wrong ones. He received the power to heal, all right, to heal anything--anything that was inflicted on himself, that is. Maybe someday, if he received proper training, he could extend it to others. But he would never receive the training so it hardly mattered--there was no chance of saving the elder twin.
And the price for this useless gift? One wound that would never heal.
Laughter echoed through the chamber as Lucemon dissipated into fractal code.
Izumi finally turned back to look for Kouji as the laughter faded. Biting her lip in concern, she rushed back to his side and took his arm in hers. “We’re getting out of here. We’re going to go find your brother, right? So you can finally see him here in the world we belong to.”
Ignoring any protest, and trying desperately to ignore the obvious pain he was in, she dragged him into the elevator that led to the station proper.
When the Lights Go Out (Flashback)
Something tugs at his mind, tells him this is a horrible idea, but he remembers the glowing eyes of an identical twin, one who was hurt, dying, in the real world, and his heart stops for a moment.
Tumblr media
“…give me the power to heal. He–he needs me.” The brother he wanted to know needed him right now, and even a deal with the literal devil couldn’t sway him. “If you can, give me what I need. I need that, for him.”
The grin that spreads across Lucemon’s face, as he’d listened quietly to Kouji’s request, should’ve unnerved him. It should’ve told him that he’d made a terrible mistake.
“Very well, Warrior. Do have fun with it.” Kouji’s got no time to relax as Lucemon reaches, touches his forehead and in no time, the pain is agonizing in his head already.
