I do wonder if Shigaraki would have become a villain even if his father wasn't abusive. His power isn't exactly a heroic one.
You know, it kind of comes back to what that Neito brought up before with certain Quirks just screaming villainous even if you intend to use them for good. Shigaraki is someone that probably could have still used his powers for the side of the heroes but mainly in situations where there were either no other options or in a more contained and humane fashion. Like, he could have brought down enemy bases. Literally. He could break down larger enemies. Literally. He could have been that guy you sent in to break down the armor. There’s potential there and at the very least he could have became a vigilante if not fully accepted into the hero community.
