happy one month of the intro post and me finally being slightly brave enough to click publish on the post!

i’m chugging away at chapter one, as a little gift under the cut you will find a little sneak peek of a fateful meeting between a homeschooled child that’s new in town and mc.

Quick question what is the kingdom feeling for magic in general?

generally with distrust. it depends on what type of magic it is so the level of severity with distrust changes. the highest level of distrust is reserved for witchcraft.

I’m guessing that while the MC was kept prisoner that they were locked up in some anti-magic chains?

yes! however this is only half right, they need to use every advantage they can to keep mc locked away so anti-magic chains are a big part of that as well as some other tools.

THE KING'S GUARD; The protectors of the realm are known as "The Legion of Elyss" named for the first King Elyss Alazar. However, nobles and commoners alike have aptly nicknamed them "The King's Guard". A legion formed of rigorous training, many know that joining is supposed to be a cautionary tale because although many enter, few survive. Those who do are forever changed.

GRAND ADMIRAL; Aidan de Peyster was made to curate death. It has made him into a wondrous war hero. He is held in the highest regard; one simple glance strikes fear into anyone who looks his way. No one has ever seen eyes so empty, yet hold so much rage. To Aidan, killing is just like breathing. Natural. Inutuivate. Often, he doesn’t know he’s doing it until it’s already done. Faceless memories are whispering in his dreams, to he needs to face what he’s done. Yet, he already has. And he knows it makes a glorious scene.

COMMANDER; Catelyn de Peyster was a woman built to build people up. For centuries, there had never been a woman in the guard who inspired such ferocity in the troops. Catelyn was made to command, she knew it since she was a young girl. It was her dream to be here, to inspire others to lead. Yet, she never thought the battlefield was where it would lead her, but the blood came easily to her. It was almost captivating. But the fight for survival was not one she had struggled with before. It changed her. If she was happy once, she does not remember it now.

LIEUTENANT; Hawke Sallow never meant to become someone important. In truth, all they wanted from joining the guard was a safe place to sleep and a warm meal. Everything that came after that didn’t matter to them; they had already lived longer than they had expected. Yet somehow, through all the battles and a war. Hawke survived. It felt like a joke. Preparing for your end and getting anything but that. This life has to mean something, because if not, what was it all for?

THE LEGION; “The brink is as endless as the blood”, the oath of The Legion of Elyss. It is a tale to be told, that anyone who survives the training will never leave the battlefield. Every shadow will speak to them, any bump in the night makes them bristle, and all screams will leave open wounds on healed scars. There is no home to return to; there’s no freedom waiting even in death. Peace is only found on the hills of war; safety stands on the other side of the blade. To become legion is to become a ghost. Once the armor is donned, the blades are sharpened, and the oath is said, there is no going back. But ask any legionnaire and they will tell you, going back was never an option.

It wasn’t just the line either but the fact that MC has a guardian and was located to (kidnapped) the palace AND the childhood friend info post.

yeah. all great points that i will not confirm or deny, but all the answers to these points will be in both the prologue and chapter one. (trust me that i am vibrating with anticipation to get this out to yall and hear your thoughts)

I wonder what are the things the MC could do with their magic?

alot! there are four types of magic and witchcraft is the last one that is extremely rare to be born into. i'm going to post an information/lore drop on magic in the kingdom where i'll go into depth on all of it.

the biggest thing that centers the story is mc being born into witchcraft magic, which is the closest to being born as fae in elyssia.

:3 will the rest of the cast have opinions about the jasser friendship/romance, or will they be mostly separate plotlines? if its not spoilery, what are the rest of the cast’s general opinion of jasser at the start of the game?

in the beginning of the story there won’t be too many instances where the ro’s and jasser interact (this happens more in chapter three) so the friendship/romance plot line with jasser is separate from them until that moment.

as for their opinions of jasser in the beginning (with no spoilers)

evander — tolerates them at best, simply because of circumstances and how they grew up together

teddy — hates them completely and chooses to ignore them every opportunity they get

maeryn — barely knows who they are or what they do, still finds them to be selfish and full of themselves

hartford — if they could get away with punching a noble in the face they would do it to jasser from the moment they met

of course that all changes depending upon the path mc goes down with jasser whether friendship/romance. going down friendship path makes the ro’s opinions nearly the same albeit slightly worse. but romance path with jasser makes them hateful of jasser, because of their treatment of mc.

so will the Jasser romance happen concurrently or before the RO romances do? or will they block the others?

at the same time! jasser will not block out any romances (there is also no option for the mc to end up with jasser at the end of the story). jasser takes this approach with mc like "they know where home is" type attitude, they believe no one will replace them.

THE KING'S COURT; The court of Elyssia is commonly referred to as a den of vipers. Only the King's favorite fear-mongers get a place on the chessboard. At the palace, there's one simple saying when it comes to dealing with these key figures: "Eat or be eaten".

COURTIER —

Jasser Atinkson is Evander’s court-appointed best friend, selected by the King to watch over Evander. Jasser uses their position to secure power through tactics of emotional manipulation, hoping to secure their family's place at court. Rumors often speak of their deep fascination and obsession with the King's new prisoner, and wonder just how they came to be appointed as the prisoner's caretaker.

The introduction of Jasser provides a special route for MC. This can either be through friendship or romance; however, it is not an endgame "romance". Jasser will use this relationship to groom MC, seeing them as an object rather than a person. (They are gender selectable, male or female. They are also five years older than MC.)

TUTOR — 

Riven Mannox is tutor to all of the royal heirs and, more recently, the King’s captured witch. Riven is known for his high education in magic and laws, in spite of their inauspicious birth. Rumors often speak of the favoritism bestowed upon the witch at the hands of Riven and his teachings, despite still carrying out all the King’s requests, no matter how much he despises him.

CHAPLAIN — 

Ariane Toussaint is the High Priestess of the Church of Estrellas, and the only one allowed to give guidance to the monarchy on religious matters. Toussaint is the given name of all High Priestesses and their chosen disciples. Rumors surround Ariane and her nearly inhumane treatment of her disciples, making the Church a fearsome place for those with any magical abilities. 

CHANCELLOR —

Henry Karrick is the closest advisor to King Yousef. A close friend of the monarchy since childhood, Henry has spent his whole life playing the games of courtly politics and building a guild of spies for all purposes. Rumors often start and end at the hands of Henry through the King’s insistence, and the nobles know to avoid the shadowed halls he roams.

NOBLE — 

Lysandra Starkhaven is the second eldest daughter of House Starkhaven, holding the closest ties to the Royal Family of Alazar. Lysandra spent most of her childhood as a lady-in-waiting to the Queen and has had close friendships with the royal heirs. Rumors swirl about her close friendship with the heir apparent, Princess Yareli, and how often Lysandra has been seen entering the heir's room in the dead of night.

THE ROYAL FAMILY; The dynasty of the royal family of Alazar spans back nine centuries. The kingdom was founded through a war when King Elyss betrayed the former Emperor of Sanakeen over the treaty with the fae of the Taegoria Forrest.

THE CURRENT ROYAL FAMILY —

THE KING; Yousef Alazar is the king of Elyssia. Although he has the honor of being the eldest son, this path to the throne was not an easy one. His father, the former King Weslyn, had formally declared that one of his children must marry a high-elf to officially be declared heir. Yousef despised the idea, having witnessed his own mother’s death at the hands of an elven coutier. However, when his younger brother agreed and prepared to marry Eulalia into their house, Yousef killed him and married her the same day.

THE QUEEN; Eulalia Alazar is the Queen of Elyssia. Eulalia was born to the oldest elven noble House of Galanodel in Elyssia. Her father was an intendant to the kingdom, hoping that Eulalia would follow in his footsteps until she caught the eye of King Elyss’ youngest son. On their intended wedding day, both her father and fiancé were killed, leaving her with no option but to marry Yousef.

THE CHILDREN; Together, the king and queen have four children. The line of succession follows the order of birth, however, regents have the ability to change it if they deem their children unworthy of the crown. This has only happened four times in the Kingdom of Elyssia.

The birth order of King Yousef and Queen Eulalia’s four children is as follows. Yareli, Lorien, Evander, and Anwen.

NEXT IN LINE; Yareli Alazar is the eldest daughter of the Royal House of Alazar and next in line for the throne. She spent much of her life in preparation for the crown. Her father separated her from her siblings, except Lorien, to the best of his abilities, only allowing her to see them at formal events. At seventeen, her father had her married to a noble, Zanden, of the House of Graystone, and together they had a son, Yarrow. She is thirty years old.

SPARE HEIR; Lorien Alazar is the second-to-last daughter of the House of Alazar. Princess Lorien has been declared next in line if something were to happen to her older sister, but Lorien always pursued more artistic endeavors. Often, she dreams of a day she would disappear from the restraint of the crown. Until then, she avoids all political scheming much to her father’s exasperation. She is twenty-eight years old.

YOUNGEST PRINCESS;  Anwen Alazar is the youngest daughter born into the House of Alazar. Being the last child of the crown means that Anwen has spent much of her life in the background, she has found this to be a blessing and a curse. The freedom to get away with anything she wants and the loneliness of knowledge to know that not everyone cares to stop her. She is eighteen years old.

THE FAMILY LOOKS; Queen Eulalia is a high-elf by blood. All children of the king and queen are half-elves by blood, however, only Evander and Anwen are classified as half-elves by looks alone. Evander and Anwen have inherited elves' sharp features and pointed ears. Yareli and Lorien have softer human features and ears with little to no points. Yareli and Evander have their father’s raven black hair, whereas Lorien and Anwen have their mother’s moonlight silver blonde hair. All children have their father’s emerald eyes, a sign of royal blood in Elyssia.

EVANDER’S DYNAMICS; Despite Evander's similar looks and height to his father, his eleven features have caused his father to reject him as a son of the crown. The King has always shown a favor to his daughters for their more human disposition, believing they represent the greatest of humanity.

The Queen, Eulalia, has taken up the parenting responsibilities for their son. She always feels a disconnect from him, she’s a scholar and a mother of girls. She knows nothing about how men work outside of her own husband, her father was abusive, and she fears any evil that lives in her from him will be passed down to her son. She knows this to be illogical. That does not stop her.

Evander’s relationships with his three sisters are loving and often the only comfort he could find with parents who often ignored him. Yareli spent as little time with him as their father allowed, but she loved him all the same. Often, she would find a way to leave him notes in places he’d never expect to find. Lorien did her best to care for Evander when their parents failed him; she would sing him to sleep when he was scared, and buy gifts for him that reminded her of their bond. Anwen believes that Evander is her favorite person in her family. She remembers the days he would tuck her in to sleep when she was little, and how he still stays up late with her on days she feels lonely.

and I'm just curious what made you decide to make it so that the mc's decisions will influence the ro's personality/morals instead of the ro being their own person with their own morals? it's just that I've never seen an if designed like that before. also, when you said that all ROs love the mc, did you mean all of them at the same time?

hi! this is a great question. i do want to clarify that the ro's do have their own morals in the beginning of the story, but they are extremely skewed because of how each of them were raised.

i think that allowing them to be influenced by mc's choices helps showcase their relationship. people always become a piece of the people they share relationships with and it makes sense with as much time as the group spends together they will inevitably be influenced by each other.

they all love mc in the same way (friendship wise), no matter how the mc ends up they will love the mc the same way you'd love a friend who has changed your life.

Is there an estimated date for Demo's release?

i am tentatively planning for an end of summer release (either end of july or mid august).

the prologue is currently finished, however it is short and i don't want to release it alone because i feel it doesn't give a lot of replayability for everyone. however, chapter one is shaping up to be much heavier.

if people simply want to see the prologue i could release that first, instead of waiting to give a prologue + chapter 1 release.
