‘eat the frog' method

Hi all, it’s werelivingarts. I just stumbled across this method called ‘eat the frog’, which means you get the most difficult or important task out of your way first. I actually have been using this method for a long time, hope this post gives you a new way of managing your time and productivity! 😜

hello, I haven’t been online on this website from ages. So many of you are still following me and I think this may be a good way to let people from other countries know what it is like to live in Italy atm.

Italy right now is the country with the biggest number of people who died because of Coronavirus. 3405 passed away and I can swear to you that not everyone was old, or in a critical medical condition. 41.035 tested positive. These aren’t random numbers, you can see everything from here (http://opendatadpc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/b0c68bce2cce478eaac82fe38d4138b1). 

My life these 10 days radically changed, I was one of those who still had to work since 2 days ago (luckily for some days I won’t), and the only reasons why I left my house was work and grocery shopping. Now just the latter. My mom is immunosuppressed and I don’t get close to her since day one, I go out and I’m scared I’m going to bring something home that would make her sick.  Italy has a world-class health system and coronavirus is pushing it to a breaking point. 

Nurses and doctor are doing everything they can, they are too tired and many of them died because of the virus. We need doctors and nurses so much that they are thinking about calling doctors who are in pensions back to work, they are sending doctors who are just graduated to hospitals to help. THERE IS NO PLACE FOR SICK PEOPLE IN HOSPITALS ANYMORE, we will get to a point where doctors will have to choose who should be saved and who shouldn’t.

There is only a way to deafeat this bitch STAY AT HOME, please wherever you are, STAY AT HOME. Even if you just had one positive case in your city, STAY AT HOME. There will be a time for reastaurants, cinemas, pubs, now you have to not underestimate everything that is happening. WE DIT IT. ITALY DID IT. PEOPLE ARE STILL GOING OUTSIDE and this is the reason why this is going to last for weeks, months.

You mostly see videos of us italians singing, we are terrified. We are trying not to think of what it’s happening in our country, it’s a distraction.

THIS IS WHAT IS HAPPENING IN ITALY

People are dying alone.  In Bergamo, a city in north Italy, the Army took to other cities 70 coffins because the local crematorium can’t keep up with the numbers.

THIS IS SCARY, IT’S TERRIFYING. I only have nightmares, I miss my friends, I hate being at home, BUT THIS IS THE ONLY WAY.

YOU ARE NOT ONLY SAVING YOUR LIFE BUT THE LIFE OF ALL THE PEOPLE YOU CARE ABOUT.

And as we say here in Italy ‘andrà tutto bene’, ‘everything will be fine’.

I teach a Qur'an class, and today’s lesson was on Surat Qasas, and there were two ayat that hit me. I’ve read and listened to this Surah many times, alhamdulilah, but it’s amazing how certain things just leap out at you.

For those who do not know, Musa’s (Moses) mother was told by God how to save her child from Pharaoh’s soldiers who wanted to kill him [Musa], with:

“And so, [when he was born,] We inspired [thus] the mother of Moses: ‘Suckle him [for a time], and then, when thou hast cause to fear for him. cast him into the river, and have no fear and do not grieve - for We shall restore him to thee, and shall make him one of Our message-bearers!’” [28:7]

Look at this: God is telling Musa’s mother, “don’t worry, I’m going to take care of him, I’m going to make him a Prophet, his future is bright, so don’t stress, I mean… c'mon, I’m God… You should probably trust Me.” Okay, maybe the last part isn’t there exactly, but again, God is reassuring her.

Think about it: God is telling her this, that He’s going to bring Musa back to her, that Musa’s future is as a Prophet of God, and so what you’d expect is that his mother would click her heels and just shrug it all off.

That’s how we pretend that the figures in The Qur'an deal with the tough times they have.

But that’s not what happens, it’s a tough situation to be in, she’s parted with her infant son, she’s been through trauma, she’s worried about him, why? Because she’s a mother. So what does The Qur'an say?

“On the morrow, however, an aching void grew up in the heart of the mother of Moses, and she would indeed have disclosed all about him had We not endowed her heart with enough strength to keep alive her faith [in Our promise].” [28:10]

Later on she’s getting scared. She wants to run out and find her child, she would disclose his identity, get him killed and probably herself too in the process, but she’s so worried, so fearful for her child, but it is God’s Mercy that gets her through this.

No one told you that patience would be easy. No one said that doing the right thing would be a walk in the park. No one told you that avoiding sin would be the fun thing to do. No one told you that wanting to be quiet when you have to speak up would be convenient. No one said that.

Realize that your faith is what will steel you for the challenges you face. That you are not alone in a struggle to do the right thing, that you’re not alone in worrying about starting to pray, or to fast, or to start taking on more responsibilities, you’re not the first, nor will you be the last person to be worried, to feel the strain on your patience, to feel like you’re bursting at the seams.

The point here is to stay the course, to remember that this will be tough, but this is what is best, for you, for those around you, and for your destiny. 

Just remember:

“Grieve not: verily, God is with us.” [9:40]

Every time you are afraid. Every time you are nervous. Every time you have knots in your stomach. Every time your heart hurts, remember, God is with you.

Let's talk hygge (hoo-ga) shall we? So hygge is basically the danish way of living and it's all about sharing with your loved ones and appreciating the little things in life (like me lol geddit since I'm tiny af lel okay I'll stop) but what most people fail to understand is that hygge doesn't have a set criteria, it's always different for each person . . . For me hygge is about disconnecting from the world, lighting up some scented candles, brewing my favourite Peshawari green tea with cinnamon and sharing it with my mom. It's about snuggling up in a blanket wearing my pajamas with my phone off, it's about feeling each and every moment of life like it's my last, it's about home cooked meals made with love and filled with calories and carbs. . . . Your version of hygge can be totally different from mine but the main idea is to appreciate everything anyone does for you and think positive. . . . Getting your birthday presents early is the best thing ever! I've wanted the @fujifilmpk instax mini 9 for a while now and I finally got it!
