in  an  effort  to  fit  in  with  their  new  family  ,  el  asks  joyce  to  cut  her  hair  the  same  ;  they want  to  feel  like  they  belong  ,  and  look  like  a  byers  so  nobody  questions  whether  she  really  is  or  not  .  as  far  as  fashion  taste  ,  they  try  to  keep  some  of  their  own  style  from  s3  but  also  incorporate  pieces  from  the  others  in  the  house

they  continue  learning  new  words  pretty  much  daily  ,  and  attend  speech  to  try  and  speak  more  ,  but  truthfully  doesn’t  have  much  to  say  most  of  the  time  .  el  is  able  to  convey  what  she  needs  in  short  ,  curt  phrases  ;  they’re  direct  ,  which  at  times  can  come  across  as  rude

ever  since  i’ve  had  el  i’ve  always  seen  them  as  finding  the  concept  of  gender  odd  ,  like  why  is  there  only  two  ,  why  do  you  have  to  choose  ??  is  it  not  enough  to  just  exist  ,  and  be  a  person  ?  they  don’t  feel  like  they  check  either  box  ,  and  while  she’s  used  to  she  /  her  ,  she  also  doesn’t  mind  they  /  them  either  .  i  also  think  they’re  fine  being  called  daughter  but  not  specifically  referenced  as  a  girl  .  el  is  already  used  to  the  term  from  hopper  ,  so  it’s  not  something  minded  too  much  ,  but  for  those  who  don’t  know  them  on  that  level  -  so  essentially  anyone  outside  the  main  characters  -  they  would  rather  be  addressed  as  ’  child  ’  or  ’  kid  ’  ;  which  also  ties  in  well  to  hopper  always  calling  them  that  too
