Bird watching birds & Prophet Solomon 15. And indeed We (The God) gave knowledge to (Prophets) David and Solomon, and they both said: "All The praises and thanks be to The God, Who has preferred us above many of His believing slaves!" 16. And Solomon inherited (the knowledge of) David. He said: "O mankind! We (meaning himself) have been taught the language of birds, and on us have been bestowed all things. This, verily, is an evident grace (from The God)." 17. And there were gathered before (Prophet & King) Solomon his hosts of jinns and men, and birds, and they all were set in battle order (his soldiers marching forwards). 18. Till, when they came to the valley of the ants, one of the ants said: "O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Solomon and his hosts crush you, while they perceive not." 19. So he (Solomon) smiled, amused at her speech (cause he heard & understood her language) and said: "My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves." 20. He inspected the birds (which were some of his soldiers), and said: "What is the matter that I see not the hoopoe (a type of bird)? Or is he among the absentees? 22. But the hoopoe stayed not long, he (came up and) said: "I have grasped (the knowledge of a thing) which you have not grasped and I have come to you from Sheba with true news." 23. "I found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given all things that could be possessed by any ruler of the earth, and she has a great throne." 24. "I found her and her people worshipping the sun instead of The God, and satan has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and has barred them from (The God's) Way, so they have no guidance," 25. "...so that they do not worship The God, Who brings to light what is hidden in the heavens and the earth, and knows what you conceal and what you reveal." 26. "The God, There is no god but He, The Lord of The Supreme Throne!" 27. (Solomon) said: "We shall see whether you speak the truth or you are (one) of the liars." 28. "Go you with this letter of mine, and deliver it to them, then draw back from them, and see what (answer) they return." The Holy Qur'an (for the rest of Prophet/King Solomon story) 1) Narrated (by 1 of the companions of The Prophet, he) said: "I was amongst my sheep. Suddenly a wolf caught a sheep and I shouted at it. The wolf sat on its tail and addressed me, saying, 'Who will look after it (i.e. the sheep) when you will be busy and not able to look after it? Do you forbid me the provision which The God has provided me?' " (he) added, "I clapped my hands and said, 'By The God, I have never seen anything more curious and wonderful than this!' On that the wolf said, 'There is something (more curious) and wonderful than this; that is, The God's Apostle in those palm trees, inviting people to The God.' 2) The Prophet said, "While a man was riding a cow, it turned towards him and said, 'I have not been created for this purpose (i.e. carrying loads), I have been created for sloughing." 3) The Prophet went on, "A wolf caught a sheep, and when the shepherd chased it, the wolf said, 'Who will be its guard on the day of wild beasts, when there will be no shepherd for it except me?'
