Huh... so it turns out the method they’re using to get rid of all the risque blogs is to lock em behind a safe mode gullag of sorts. Makes me think they’re probably considering bringing them back if things look dire.

Art Sites...
This isn’t a post about how I’m also abandoning ship and going where the other sites are, I already have usual romps, those being:
ArtStation DeviantART Wordpress (under construction) Instagram
What I find interesting, and what I want to talk about is how artists - from what I’ve seen throughout the years ever since I started posting online back in 2009 - are a rather migratory bunch to say the least. I wanna say like... 5 of 7 websites I’ve joined that artists were scurrying to for a different experience/fresh start have either gone by the wayside or were also ditched for greener pastures (anyone remember Anipan and Drawcrowd?) usually for one reason or another but the common one I’ve usually seen is the lack of a proper place to post NSFW content.
NSFW content is a big part of most art communities, doesn’t have to be as explicit as p**n (just gonna censor that word so that this doesn’t set of any unnecessary flags) but anything ranging from lewds to pinup, and in a lot of art sites cases, they never accounted for this. Funnily enough, places like Hentai Foundry and Newgrounds - places that allowed for NSFW content - were usually the lesser alternative for one reason or another and it’s interesting to see most NSFW artist either flocking there or Twitter; and in my opinion... Newgrounds is the better option because Twitter isn’t an art site.
Gonna use that to transition into another thing I wanna talk about, art sites in general, or rather their functionality. DeviantART, the OG stomping grounds for many artist, is a bit of a clunky old dog; even with its mass of categories, groups, forums etc, it is a bit of a lumbering colossus in terms of functionality. Don’t get me wrong, it works, you can upload and search for art and communities fairly simply but it still has certain things about that feel a bit behind the times. The biggest one for me is the archaic restriction to uploading one piece of art in a submission, almost every other place I post my art, here included, has an option to have several pictures in one post, and it’s a functionality that is super useful; and while someplace like Twitter has a similar function it is not an art site, it doesn’t have the gallery navigation that most art sites have as default, it lacks search functions for looking for art unless its under a specific tag, hell it just isn’t an art site.
As somebody who has been using these sites more as portfolio dumping grounds and looking to market my skills in places that are built around  business and not hobbysit ventures, I’m not about to start hopping around to the next ‘tumblr’ if things go sour here, I made a Newgrounds account but that’s mostly because I wanted to have a place to test out certain animation things and I hear it’s a good place for animators.
Without rambling on too long and losing my train of thought, I basically wanted to say that Tumblr going through this this transition is interesting to say the least, many would say that the site is heavily used for NSFW content and with that going away the site is gonna go down a downward spiral but I‘m curious to see how it sticks around. As for now, gonna keep doodling and drawing how I do.

Yo! An Update...
To anyone still following this blog, thanks for sticking around and sorry for the lack of content, it’s been an interesting transitional year and it’s been a bumpy one too. I’ll explain all that briefly as well why I took that break and what I’m gonna be doing going forward.
So first off, the hiatus and nuking of my work; I did this because in my 3rd year of studying design I kinda realized something about my art: I portrayed it too much like a hobby and not a profession. It’s always been a goal of mine to use my skills and turn them into a job but the main problem with how I’ve been going about it is that it never reflected that, it came across more like a hobbyist just sharing their work rather than a budding professional showing off their portfolio. So I took time off to reflect on that and figure out what I was going to be doing with my illustrations and animations and incorporate what I learned studying design to further my craft.
Second part is moving forward, one thing I want to address is the frequency of works posted, I feel like I’m gonna limit that to the tail end or beginning of a month, could be either or both, but I don’t plan to upload weekly. So either during the first or last week of a month, that’s when I’ll be uploading content.
Finally on the topic of content, I’m gonna start treating this blog as a more casual venture, so I’m not just going to be uploading my art alone, but going back to posting brief writeups and opinion/discussion pieces, I’ll have everything tagged accordingly but also have links to my other online romps that specifically focus on art and design.
That’s it for now, thanks for reading.
