A kid…and such a small kid…Despite his despair, a small smile warmed his face. “Hey…Sorry for just sitting…am I bothering you? Wouldn’t want to be a bother!” She was reminding him of his own son, and his smile wavered.

The child sat and cried, the tears that fell from their eyes an alarming red color. As Yuuya reached for them, blood started to slowly seep out from under their hair and drip down their face.

He had never quite encountered anyone in his situation until now, and he was following the small fantail, hoping to talk but afraid of scaring it away.
The young fantail never felt like they really had a place to be and tended to wander. It was lonely, having no one to talk to for so many years. They hadn’t even been seen for almost ten years and that was far lonelier. They stopped and looked around a bit, feeling like someone was watching.
