After war, Steven struggled adjusting to civilian life. Sometimes, he had nightmares, waking up in a cold sweat as he jolts upright in bed at 2AM, startling Gerard awake. Steven doesn't talk, just pants, and Gerard wraps an arm around his shoulder and pulls him into his side. Steven apologizes profusely after gathering himself. He's so sorry that he's not the same. He's sorry that he falls apart now, that it all feels like too much. Steven can't grasp how Gerard still wants to be with someone like that?

Pitts asks if Steven would stay if the roles were reversed. He would. He'd rather go back to war than ever lose Gerard. He just can't understand how the dame logic applies to him. "You don't have to understand, Stevie. The only thing you have to do is know that I'm not going anywhere." Gerard says as they lay back down, his hand resting on the other's side. Steven let's out a shaky breath, "I love you." He says. "I love you so much." His voice breaks.
