my favorite part of derry girls was just how accurately it portrayed being a normal person in a time of crisis. obviously the events in derry are very much real and ireland has experienced decades of political conflict, and this DOES impact the main characters in a lot of ways, but they still also…. go to school. worry about their friends and birthday parties and being together. because they’re just teenage girls (+ james) and that resonated with me a lot, especially now

Always a good one with the good place
Forget about torturing your blorbos, putting them through the ringer. I'm putting my blorbo in perfectly ordinary, pleasant situations. Their tortured personality will cause them anguish anyway, making an absolutely mundane scene into the most dramatic, agony filled affair as though the world is ending and it's all their fault

Finding out the plot of “Companion ” genuinelly being a sex worker allegory with “If a sex robot was advanced enough it wouldn’t want to sleep with these chuds either” Genuinely surprised me okay somebody was cooking.

Companion (2025) was written perfectly, because it works as an allegory for
- abusive relationships
- heteronormative misogyny
- sex work
- casual misogyny and fragile masculinity
- objectification (regardless of gender)
- robots and sentience
- the creation vs the creator
- AI and modern technology
- women realizing their desires and pursuing their own autonomy
- AND asking "Am I a robot?"

Continuing on with my ouat rewatch and finally reached the end of s4 and I just… I hate to compare two ships I like, and I have no wish to shit on captain swan cause I respect it… but…
Ok so Emma is trapped in the AU enchanted forest on that island prison, without her magic but with all her memories, and then Henry shows up and rescues her… along with Hook. And Emma is clearly happy to see him!! But it’s like a sort of chill flirty vibe, she’s pretty calm about it, it’s not super emotional or anything.
Then Henry brings her to Regina and within like 30 seconds Emma is tearing up. She’s so emotional and intense talking to Regina:
And they make it about their respective male love interests, so ostensibly Emma is emotional about Hook, right?
Right… except when she actually DID see Hook she honestly did not seem very affected. Surely if she’s so hung up on having never told him she loves him, she would have been having that emotional outpouring… when she actually saw him??? Instead, it’s not until she’s standing in front of Regina that she’s in her feels.
And then in the next episode she’s finally got Hook back… and she immediately sacrifices everything as soon as any harm is threatened to Regina. With Hook BEGGING her not to. She chooses Regina without hesitating.
I just… they’re always like this about each other. And neither of them have anywhere near that intensity or devotion with their male love interests. Regina was literally given a choice between Robin or Emma by Rumple, and she chose Emma. Emma is handed her happy ending with Hook on a silver platter, and she tosses it aside without thinking twice when Regina’s happiness is in danger. Not even her life! Just… ok…….. coolcoolcoolcoolcool
