Fic authors deserve more credit.

Story time: I started a book about 23 hours ago and just finished it. Also in that time I slept for 10 hours, spent time with family, was at work, etc. Anyway, I enjoyed the book (Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda). But it felt like it flew by, so after I finished I looked up the word count because what are pages? Pages are meaningless. I only function in word counts anymore.

The estimate I found was 58,580. My immediate reaction was “oh, that’s why. That’s nothing!” But what a shitty response. Because no. That’s not nothing. That’s a whole. Damn. Book. An entire novel! And Fic authors regularly bust out 30k, 50k, 100k, 150k words. AND THEY DO IT FOR FREE. WHILE WORKING AND LIVING THEIR LIVES.

So anyway, thank your favorite fic author today because they deserve it. Because they’re amazing. They’re the MVPs.

i reblogged that post about screenshotting instead of doing prev tags but actually if we’re sharing granular social media etiquette i think we should all go back to copy and pasting tags into a reblog and then adding “(via @username)” afterwards. that’s how it was done when i joined tumblr in 2010 and that’s how i think we should do it now. simple. accessible. clear cut. i am an old man shaking my fist about the kids on the lawn

i can’t get in lifts with people because i have a sort of phobia of breathing in people’s breath

and when i got asked what was wrong by my law teacher (she thought i looked ill)

i just heard the most intense scream in my kitchen so i got up to see what was wrong and my 11 year old sister was on the floor cuddling a bag of potato chips and i said dude whats wrong and she yelled  ”THEYRE STALE. WHY DOES THE WOLRD HATE ME? I HAVE DONE NOTHING TO DESERVE THIS”
