Bless the Telephone by themoonfish
This day, that feels like the beginning of the rest of her life, is also the day that everything goes to shit. Summary: Regina and Henry leave Storybrooke. Emma stays, Henry wishes she wouldn’t, and maybe Regina wishes too. Living in separate states, Emma and Regina must once again learn to deal with sharing Henry, staying in touch with their extended families, and all of the mess that ensues.

Regina begins to sob.
"This isn't happening," She cries. Emma tentatively comes up behind Regina, remembers that the last time she snuck up on the queen without warning she had more than a few first degree burns before the Mayor begrudgingly healed them. Still, Emma decides to charge ahead — like she does with most things — and pull the woman into her arms anyway. "It's happening Regina," Emma mumbles into the other woman's hair, which smells like heady flowers and citrus and a touch of vomit. Though they haven’t made a big production of it, Emma loves Regina in a stuck with you for life kind of way. In all these years she hasn't run. She's kept her commitments. She's moved into the manor, into Regina's closet and drawers and bed, and has raised their son with a fierceness she did not know she was capable of until Regina showed her she was. Sure, this is bizarre. And, sure, if someone with future vision had told her five years ago that this would have happened, she would have packed up her box of belongings and been on the road in seconds. But they didn't, so she won't because she's a better Emma now.

These flowers are for the motherless. For anyone who wishes to be a mother but may never get that chance. For mothers who have lost children and for children who have lost parents. For those who have never known a mother’s love. I know that days like this can be hard. I love holidays and I love my mother (Our relationship is complicated to say the least, but I know that she loves me too) I also know what its like to feel sad while the world around you celebrates and shares family photos. Please know that you are not alone, and that your pain matters just as much as anyone’s joy. 🌸 Take care

“Late” is 53 minutes and nine seconds long, and that includes the credits. In those minutes, Alexis Bledel utters not a single word. She only makes two, maybe three sounds. One of them is a moan of despair. The last is a a scream. It’s filled with rage and horror, lasting all of one second. It is the most cathartic, awful second of television you will see this year.

All these years she has thought about the ability to walk away from everything and everyone a terrible curse, an unfortunate side affect of her orphaned and rootless state. Never once has she considered it for what it truly was. A privilege. A choice. Easier than staying and facing the real bogarts in her closet who were always the warm flesh and bone that walked beside her in the early evenings or woke with arms and legs slung over her own, never the things that went bump in the night.

Henry Mills begins school at Hogwarts. His mother, Professor Regina Mills, is a recently promoted member of the faculty. Naturally, she loathes Emma Swan, the terribly uncouth last-minute ministry appointed replacement for the position of Care for Magical Creatures and Emma doesn’t know why. It’s not like they were best girlfriends back in their year. Just kidding, of course they were.
