   “I apologized didn’t I?” She said with a tone that was bordering on annoyance. She was currently focused on a text she received from her sister about her nephew. She’d been so worried about them both lately.

“Well. Perhaps next time you will watch where you are going, yes?” 

Maybe his tone is a little condescending… But, honestly! At 6′0″ is he really so easy to simply ‘not see’? No. He suspects that it is merely the focus which the other had been giving to the screen of the device in hand at the time.

Most useful and excellent goddess, blessed with magic, Lady of the temple enclosure. Hers are the mourning rites, the embalming table, the mystery at the edge of the world. She is the ending that proceeds the beginning, she is the fall before the rise–don’t you see? All is cyclical.

   She wiped the sweat from her brow, trying her best to catch her breath and settling back against the wall to prop herself up. Looking over at him before a laugh escaped her. It wasn’t out of amusement or otherwise, but because it was the only expression she had in this moment. She didn’t know what to do.

   “You know who’s fault this is, right?”

“In case you haven’t noticed,” he indicates his bleeding shoulder, pain drawing his expression taut, “I doubt that I will be of much use. We need to find somewhere to lie low. Preferably before we end up in another firefight.”
