In other news: I think my sim has fucked himself thin. Like I made him fat and beefy, and he has hit the gym like once for two minutes. All the man has routinely done is bone neighbours' wives, now he's lean and muscled despite eating everything in the house for DAYS.

Thinking about it, Wallace doesn't have a good track record because you've for the reboot, and then the whole wedding thing with the lunatic. And before the wedding, he almost gets his sisters farm sabotaged by a rival farmers lot because he fancied the rivals daughter... I'm not saying cancel Wallace, but how about a soft talking to?

Now my brain is just going through the basement transformation scene where Wallace changes back into himself and gives everyone an apology hug. Gromit gets the full-on OG movie one where he hops into Wallace's arms, this time getting a kiss on the cheek from his dad, because unlike VMF, my story WILL WIN THE OSCAR! Fluffles gives his leg a little cuddle and gets a hat pat. Lady T gives Wallace one of her infamous head-on her tiddy cuddles that everyone feels uncomfortable around, but she's tall, not her fault her bf is dinky! DL and Wallace have the first of two familial apology hugs, the beginning of their new nickname, where Wallace calls them precious as he pulls them into a full body embrace, slightly lifting them off the ground like DL weighs nothing because he's so relieved their okay and its all over now. Then the reprise when he goes down into the basement later (I stupidly said loft in the last one but after DL comes back from being a vilian, their old rooms taken by the pups and they don't want to cram them in with Gromit and Fluffles so they take the basement for a little while and the last few years has been planning permission and waiting for Wallace to get up there and build them a new room) and finds their dresser empty, a buffle bag all packed and ready to go, the inventor gets another bout of realisation regarding his actions and hastily dumps the bag back into the dresser before bolting upstairs where DL is cleaning up dinner (They had a really late snack) while Gromit and Fluff tend to the pups, and he launches them with this unbridled desperation and heartbreak, pulling DL close as he presses kisses into their hairline and sobs apologies because he's remembering now, just before transforming into the Were Rabbit, Wallace has a brief but intense flash of their argument and casting them out, sometime he vowed to never do know their history.
He promises to never hurt them like that again and to eat his vegetables like a normal person. no more tonic, no more get-rich-quick schemes, no more holding onto negativity and hiding things from each other (IE, when he's upset or angry), and closure. Wallace then tells them they can't leave and how this is their home, it always has been and always will and how much he hated not having DL around after they ran away, a reason he gave the pups their room because he couldn't take walking past it in the night to find it empty.
It's a rare moment I get the whole platonic vibe for these two.
I love this ship so much it's ruining my life and I don't even care

About to dub the Were Rabbit reboot "The year everybody hated Wallace" XD holy shit For context, it isn't the original tonic that causes Wallace's mood to turn sour. The OG gives him that boost, similar to the movie, the bounce in his step, bigger mood, better sleep, positives. Yes, it makes him more oblivious, but it's just enhancing traits he already has, so meh. Inevitably, the buzz clouds his judgement, again, a character trait Wallace already has, but when he combines chemicals into the mix and chugs 5+ bottles a day of this now unnaturally treated tonic, that's when you get the Mr Hyde effect, where ALL of Wallace's emotions get a huge surge in power, good and bad, like a high.
His verbal lashing of the others stems from feeling attacked, as previously repressed doubts about himself and his career spring forth and thoughts that Wallace has held back are pushed to the forefront because his brain can no longer handle or restrain them. You can blame the chemicals or his mental state; being so doused in this poison, it literally alters his personality, and the withdrawal symptoms are obviously making him worse toward the latter end of the chapter.
The final transformation, I like to think, burns the remainder of the tonic from his system, hence why the monster can be reasoned with and is semi-coherent because the part that was making him vicious and angry is gone, leaving some of Wallace to come through. --- This is not a Wallace apologist post. But I would put that title on a shirt if I could

do any of you remember that gumball episode where darwin becomes mega paranoid after watching a health and safety video so to quell his anxiety he goes out of his way to make everything kid friendly and inoffensive by propositioning it as being for the children and then he becomes a fascist at the end

Just want to thank everybody for their interest in the were rabbit reboot!
I know it’s just a piece of a story but I didn’t realise how big it’s gotten, how invested people have gotten into the tonic storyline, I love it and I love you!

“You’re supposed to be good! The Wallace I know doesn’t release a plague on his neighbours or lie to people! He’s humble, thinks of others, always puts stuff right before the end. This is not you”
‘The inventor glares at the three with a cold detachment Gromits never seen before. It’s like someone’s home but they don’t want to answer the door’
“That bloody smoothie is making you sick, Wall”
“Is it? Or am I just exceeding everyone’s expectations of me lately. No one’s taken me this seriously in ages, finally I’m getting somewhere and not a single one of you are happy about it! Work me’self to the bone to keep this house afloat, day in, day out”
“You? What have you done other than prance about with Lady Tottington and act like the poster boy for clean living?! We’ve been catching up on everything. Locating the rabbits YOU let out, pulling orders of the tonic YOU poisoned with those chemicals, all we’ve done is pick up the slack”
“Bout ruddy time and all”
“…we’ve had to reopen Anti Pesto to cover your arse, Wallace. Chase after dozens of bunny’s putting everyone’s gardens at risk of damage, you’ve technically vandalised countless homes by unleashing those animals. Some of them were hurt! Others had ingested your vegetables and suffered the effects. Do you not get why we’re afraid?! You don’t do this! That stuff’s turned you into—“
“Into somebody you can’t push about! You’re not bothered about the rabbits, all you care about is me being complacent! Locked in me basement from dawn to dusk, toiling away while the rest of you go around taking all the recognition for my achievements! I built this company from the ground up!”
“…Gromit built this company. He made the soup, he concocted a remedy for a bug you wouldn’t let stabilise! Put yourself in the hospital because Mr Wallace couldn’t STOP inventing. You scared the fuck out of Flo, had me and Gromit so worried we lost clients because we missed appointments! Taking care of you! You’re the idiot who wanted to pedal the stuff at markets. Not us”
“Oh! Suddenly it’s my fault”
“Yeah! It is! You’re why we’re in this situation! You’re why everything’s going to pot! This is why I trashed the reminder of the stock, it’s turned you into someone we don’t even know anymore”
“That’s when you could be bothered to even try”
‘The inventor finally unleashes everything that’s been on his mind since this whole argument began. He lays into everyone how this is the best he’s felt in years, finally able to keep up with his peers and sustain a reasonable sleep pattern, not have to take breaks or pre bedtime naps because his body is so exhausted from being overworked. For a minute Gromit almost feels guilty for daring to open his mouth, but then the inventor points a finger at DL and goes on a tirade about not being who they want him to be. Not letting them push him around or control Wallace like they enjoy doing, judging his choices, mocking his ideas, treating the man like a joke rather than a person. Wallace points out how the second he grew a backbone, suddenly he wasn’t their Wallace anymore, he was the enemy, the bad guy, that the reason he released the bunny’s was, yes, a poor business decision but they needed the money and everything he did and has done, has been for them. The minute he turns again to finish Gromit, DL takes the worst of it and gets on Wallace’s last nerve by defending him, excusing Gromit’s failures as just protecting his moronic best friend, the two get louder, more aggressive, turning the argument into a full on screaming match until Wallace loses his temper completely’
“If that’s the way you feel, obviously you’d be much happier somewhere else. In fact, maybe you SHOULD go elsewhere, happened before, what’s to stop you leaving again?…I’m going for a walk, Gromit, help the lass pack her things, will you. I’d like them ready by the time I get back”
‘The canine is as shocked as everyone else is, in time with slamming the door, he sees DL’s eyes gloss over, a cold realisation rattling them to the core. Despite previously being the one to always suggest they go seek another place to live, now he can’t help but want to comfort them as Fluffles comes out of her hiding place from the corner of the hallway, trying to take her sisters hand as they all stare at the front door like it’s imploded’
‘DL doesn’t risk talking, they just fight back a sniffle and head to their room in the basement to start packing. It’s one of the rare moments they risk sobbing in front of Gromit. It’s also one of the few occasions he sees Fluffles broken since she arrived at their home. He doesn’t know how to fix it, but right then, Gromit begins to search for ideas’

Possible new development for the COTWR reboot!
As I’ve mentioned before with the journals and rewatching the older episodes/movie, Wallace’s character gives off, to me, various lowkey toxic/selfish traits and during that chapter he does peak in terms of negative behaviour like that’s the point, the tonic enhances attributes good and bad, plus the point of the self insert is Wallace and Gromit exhibiting and experiencing more human qualities, embracing what makes them people.
and DL’s earlier thing is sort of rose tinted, they don’t respect Wallace is a man, he’s a person, not everything is all sunshine and rainbows and I want to think that becomes visible in the Were Rabbit arc because they are both seeing sides of each other they don’t like/never expected/fail to communicate on so my brain is working around the argument or overall hostility element by touching base on DL’s lack of acknowledgment, their own ignorance leading to Wallace’s, I guess you can say villian moment.
Because DL for a decent part of the story sees Wallace as who he is on screen, even though VMF gives him some humanity on a relatable level, he’s still a fictional character, he’s still the bumbling inventor who goes through life believing anything can be solved with some positive attitude and elbow grease. And DL feeds into that delusion a bit, not a lot but when the tonic reveals this nastier, more obvious self serving piece of Wallace that Aardman gloss over through Gromit and his devotion or their friends or general distraction, it’s hard to handle, of course it is, even Gromit himself is like “did I do something wrong, making this stuff?”, because it’s further revealing the sort of person Wallace can be in the right situation, and if you’re like DL whose grown up constantly expecting him to be all smiles and determination, to see a minor hero become the bad guy, it’s a big shift mentally.
I’m thinking maybe DL expresses this to him, similar to him when they opened up about their mental health, they focus on what Wallace should be, not who he is, how it’s affecting them rather than trying to solve the problems the tonic is creating. They’re selfish in wanting him to be their Wallace, the man they know from the franchise, the man they’ve loved for all these years instead of get him back to how he is naturally. Himself.
DL’s grievances are personal, not a general concern for the inventor. They do worry about him but it’s clouded, and the chapter is about them both receiving closure they never received earlier, hence why I feel like they’d actively bring up how he isn’t Wallace, he’s not their friend, their master, their father figure, their granddad, he’s become other, and Wallace understandably doesn’t like being told that and snaps. Rightly or wrongly he feels like they’re attacking him for being happy and healthy and able to be more so the man bites back and blows everything half to hell

Now my brain wants the smuttier end where they find him in the basement when he’s supposed to be asleep, clad in his robe and pyjamas, instead of being annoyed or sending him to bed, DL gets this hungry look in their eyes before getting him into that little alcove under the stairs.
Neck kisses lead to roaming hands that hike up his night shirt, revealing all the spots they want to sink teeth into and give themselves the grace of doing so, Wallace knotting his fingers in their hair as he’s treated like a piece of meat in the best way, chest and stomach getting heaps of attention they hadn’t had in, well, ever really. His waistband getting worked downward until the man’s nerves are brushed by the damp chill of the room, before something else knocks him sideways like being pushed down onto the ratty old sofa, having DL’s body pressed against his, partially clothed now, nothing on his lower torso and just the image of hazel eyes and worn shoulders inching down his body until Wallace has to cover his mouth to stop himself moaning.
The end result is like a painting, the inventor lying on the sofa heavy with love bites and blemishes from the combination of hands and mouth, shirt still pulled up to his chin and robe dangling beyond his forearms as DL sits and stares at him with a pleased, sated smile. All the while he’s trying to catch what little breath he can following the surge of stimulation.
After all that DL makes a joke about how he should take like heavy cream with all the dairy he eats, and Wallace can’t do anything but heave a little sad noise as he covers his face with his arms, leading to them placing another kiss on his tummy that causes him to jolt.
“Don’t worry, I’ll let you get some rest before round 2”
With that they pat his leg before heading upstairs to make something to eat and Wallace is left feeling like the biggest hoe because he actually wants them to come back and do that all over again, maybe even a little rougher this time

DL having a thing about Wallace’s tummy and when he’s not layered up in tank tops and overalls they wrap an arm around him before giving it a little rub, or just place their hand there as a source of comfort.
Wallace doesn’t mind of course, he only has something to say when his partner gets a little too curious with those hands and explore while he’s trying to work or they’re at risk of being caught, even then he’s mostly cool about it long as they let him keep his clothes on
