muse a is a new single father, a teenager at that living in an apartment complex with his newborn. it’s one of those apartment complexes in new york city, where everyone kind of keeps to themselves. muse b lives on his floor and has heard this newborn baby crying at ungodly hours, distracting her from her cramming for midterms. she had complained to the landlord about it and one night, she hears the baby crying again. stepping outside in a fit of rage, muse b is about to yell at whoever is the parent to this bastard child until she spots muse a, pacing the hallway with the child in his arms, his hair disheveled and his eyes giving away the sleep he’s been lacking. she feels sympathy instantly; she had no idea muse a lived on her floor, much less was he the father of this child. so, at 3 in the morning, muse b offers to help muse a get the baby back to sleep. and muse b becomes some sort of baby whisperer to muse a, and he continues to go to her for help and they start to dig each other and this is just so cute please

***you can completely switch the genders it works either way, m/f m/m f/f whatever you wish!!!

shying away from her raised finger, azelma sighs, perhaps considering a serious suggestion for her maman. not that she expected to actually gain a little sibling out of this pregnancy.

frozen in place, azelma allows a single tear to sloppily slide down her reddened cheek. while he is blazingly correct, she also can’t help but note that he has no idea the shit she’s been through herself.

at first, she decides against telling him just what the fuck she’s had to live with. he doesn’t want to hear it, she knows. but then again, the urge to speak up is growing stronger and stronger. why should she stay silent? this isn’t her father. she can speak.

not one to usually speak up in defense of herself, azelma’s stomach churns with an odd mixture of fear and empowerment.

❛ look, I’m not saying you don’t got a right to complain, but I haven’t exactly been living in luxury, okay? again, not saying your life hasn’t sucked, but you don’t know how shitty it is to be treated like royalty one day and like shit the next. you know, I almost wish they fucking hated me from the start, because then it wouldn’t hurt so bad. ❜

a sharp, slightly shaky exhale follows. this is the most she has ever spoken, it seems. the most she has ever looked into just how much her parents didn’t love her.

     gavroche bites back a small and innocent laugh, albeit      innocent. it seemed too distant from his body. he had      grown up, hardened and become something special on      the streets. he was something different from what his      family had expected him to be. they had expected him      to be gone, dead and nothing more than dead meat on      the streets —- but he was happy he hadn’t given up as      easy as they wanted him too. he was special to a lot      of people, and he was happy with it.

     he’s feeling his temperature rise, a tell tale sign      of the anger that’s boiling up inside of him. he’s      mad, but gavroche was not up for fighting. not      anymore. he’s done with arguing, and making      himself feel even more sick on how he is. he      just clenches at the box, fingers digging tightly      into the cardboard
