So, I was thinking about Fable (not the guy) a bit ago because the SMP lives rent free in my head, and I always cycle into theorizing about the Dark House.
The pure amount of CONNECTIONS this one house that only really appears twice in the entire series never fails to blow me away. And most of the connections are things you have to figure out because they certainly didn’t say anything in canon.
Let’s think: it shows up in s1, for literally no apparent reason. It just chose to exist. It’s filled with pretty hostile signs, AND it had the button to teleport Athena to the End prison, so whoever wrote them… probably not a very good person (we’ll get to that, people who have already figured out who it is) that somehow knows everything about them.
Wonderful.
All you really need to know is that one of the signs says “don’t release him.” Which is absolutely referring to Fable (the guy), since Ic at the start of (I believe) every reset gets a book that’s undoubtedly from Fable saying “release me.”
Moving on…
In s3 Haley asks Rae to help her build a house. We now know it was the Dark house, and that Haley specifically wanted Rae’s help because he was supposed to be the one to build it.
There is a lot you can get from just that.
Rae was supposed to be the one to build it, which means he was also supposed to be the one to write all the signs. As well as the button to teleport Athena— his dear lab assistant— to the End.
Why? This is Rae. He wouldn’t… Right?
And that’s about the time I started to go a bit insane (it’s fine)l
If Rae was supposed to build it… why didn’t he? Well, it ties back to how resets work, and Quixis.
We know, due to Violet, that resets happen when things that AREN’T supposed to happen, happen. Like Fable tearing the pages of As It Is and effectively removing the present. Or, when Quixis glitched Fable back into Purgatory and replaced him with Haley.
Fable was supposed to get out. At least, that’s how time wanted to go. In theory, no reset is supposed to ever happen, but whenever time gets messed with to severely, they do.
And I believe if time went as planned, Rae would’ve been the one to build the Dark House, without Haley’s help. Which in turn would’ve meant that Fable would have been a bad person a lot earlier in the story, since the s3 episode we see the Dark House take place in is a bit before Fable is confirmed to be evil.
We can’t exactly know why Rae would still build it, because he would have to be aware that Athena would get teleported to the End (how he would have made that button I don’t know; maybe he’s a god by then) and still choose to build it, but it might be because Fable did far worse things in the intended timeline and drove Rae off the edge. Maybe giving him some sort of a a villain arc. Or maybe he figured out that if he DIDN’T do it, there would be another reset because someone had to make the Dark House, as was intended by time. But who knows.
…But how would he Dark House travel through time? Well, I’m pretty sure it’s simply the world’s doing.
Not everything with a gold aura in the world is caused by Quixis. I think that maybe the house that appeared in the desert in s1 was supposed to be a clue to that. And while it’s easy to believe everything gold is Quixis, it can’t be. I’m pretty sure everything gold is just something that just isn’t… right. Or that the world is confused about. The s3 episode “For Science” from Rae’s POV helped me come to that conclusion.
So, I think the Dark House was the world moving it through time. I’m not sure why the world would do that, though. We know it’s still sentient, and that it just removed it’s feelings and made Momboo to hold those feelings, so it likely would have to have some sort of logical reasoning. Perhaps due to things already getting messed up by Fable ripping pages out of As It Is, I the only way to get things relatively back on track to the intended timeline is to take the liberty of breaking time just a bit and moving the Dark House to the past.
Because we do know that time will at least attempt to right itself, because of Haley saying that she believed everything would get back on track eventually.
…And while we’re on the topic of Haley, I’d just like to say that the most likely reason why she has no knowledge of Quixis is because they aren’t supposed to exist in the intended timeline, and that Haley has only really retained the knowledge from the intended timeline.
But being as Haley doesn’t really freak out too much about everything that’s happening, besides her being out of Purgatory and Quixis, I’d say that s3 is mostly aligned with the intended timeline, except for the Dark House. Mostly. We can’t know for sure.
But… that does make me wonder if Haley still exists in the Quixis-modified memories that most people had after the finale.
Though that’s a topic for an entirely different post.

I hate people that think everything is AI.
I don’t care for generative AI either— but I dislike those people just as much.
"If you use em dash in your works, it makes them look AI generated. No real human uses em dash."
Imaging thinking actual human writers are Not Real because they use... professional writing in their works.
Imagine thinking millions of people who have been using em dash way before AI becomes a thing are all robots.

Does anyone else (when writing a sad and/or depressed characters) just… have to stop and take a break?
Maybe it’s simply me, but it’s when you get so into writing the character you might as well be them?
Happened to me today. I’m mentally drained. I think I did well writing wise, but WOW I feel like I’m recovering from a bad bout of depression.

I petition:
Duchuse, Reclusess (pronounced like Ulysses), Declusess, Ducluse, Ruchusse, Intelligent DPSers, Declusse.
I’m personally a fan of Declusse.

JORGE WHEN I GET YOU JORGE
In WYFiLwMA there’s the line “would you love me all the same” and WHAT DO YOU MEANNNNN THAT IT’S TO THE SAME NOTES (but it goes higher) AS “for the fallen and the brave” JORGE??? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE??”
Is this supposed to be like… the original Ody has fallen and died but would you still love the new me for him? Or maybe not so literally? Perhaps… I’ve fallen very far from who I was, but would you still love me?
AAAAAAAAAAAA music is amazing

SDV Haley’s IRL Birthday
Short answer: May 3rd (Northern hemisphere) or November 5th (Southern Hemisphere).
Long answer: So, I was thinking about Haley’s IRL birthday.
Don’t ask why, it was random.
My first thought was just to pick a month in spring and celebrate it on the 14th.
And then I actually started considering it.
There are about 92.8 days of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and 89.8 days of spring in the Southern Hemisphere. The average is 91.3. In Stardew Valley, there are 28 days in Spring. Meaning that more than one day of IRL Spring goes into one day. I figured out it was somewhere between 3 & 4, and ultimately landed on ~3.25 (it’s more like… 3.260735… but I had to make myself stop there).
So if anyone is wondering, a day in the Spring of Stardew Valley lines up to about 3.25 days a day, assuming it takes just as long hour wise for their planet to orbit the sun. And even then… it would still be off due to other factors…
Haley’s birthday is on the 14th day of SDV Spring. Meaning we have to multiply 14 by 3.25, which is 45.5.
Now, I was stupid the first time and skipped over finding the exact day Spring starts in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere, and initially said May 9th (I didn’t even do the Southern Hemisphere). But then I realized my stupidity.
The average first day of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere is (I believe) May 20th, and in the Southern Hemisphere September 22nd (I couldn’t find exact dates for the South Hem, curse Google).
Then the goal was to find a calendar. I counted off starting on May 20th for the North Hem, and September 22nd for the South Hem, and ended up landing 45 on May 3rd and November 5th. Halfway through either of those days is still the same date.
I might end up doing all the IRL birthdays of every character and post it on Tumblr later lmao. Might take a bit, though…
Oh! ALSO—
Remember that the conversions I did here were ONLY for Spring, and will ONLY apply to character birthdays in SPRING if you try to do it yourself.
Note: Bonus points if you figure out something weird about me initially thinking May 9th.
