Second date 3.3.12
A Saturday like no other. 5:45 am wake up for a swim. Picked up a friend. Both of us dead tired. Went to Birrong pools. The water was unexpectedly warm. Now, I've never EVER swam for the purpose of cardio. So after a couple of laps, shit got tiring as hell! Started to rain as well, pretty awesome. No one else decided to come since they were lazy asses, so it was just her and I. After about a good 45 minutes we decided to call it quits. Took her home.
Arrived home at 7:30 am and had to shower and get ready for work. Another interesting day of work. The new pharmacist is an interesting guy, and easy to talk and relate to. I like a boss who talks to the employees. Good man.
Straight after I went to Hapkido. An ok lesson. But the fun began after class. Heaps of grappling and sparring!
Went home and chilled for a bit and got ready for a second date. I couldn't wait so I kept myself occupied by revising the staff pattern I learnt from training.
So the time came to pick her up. We were scheduled at 7:30 to go ice skating at Canterbury. Me nervous as crap still. Now when I’m nervous, my co-ordination goes out of whack. So this did NOT help with my driving. It was almost all over the place. The worst thing that happened was me running over one of the islands on the road. I seriously did not see that in my peripherals. My driving scared her. NOT GOOD.
Finally reached the ice rink, but we were a little early. So we chatted a bit in the car. She wanted a golden Labrador. Admittedly I was too busy staring at her face way too much lol.
We saw people walking in so we decided to start going in. My stupid ass parked at the wrong entrance. What?! It’s been 6 years since I’ve been here! Apparently there was some sort of fundraiser for Kids with cancer. So we decided to donate like $10 for some raffle tickets (so generous, I know). As soon as we walked in, the cold hit me HARD. I’d almost forgotten ice did such a thing! So on came the jacket, and to the skates we went. It seemed like the shoes didn’t change at all from 6 years ago. Those same blue ice skates that existed back then. She had trouble putting  her skates on (lol what a dope), so I had to help her. With skates at the ready and a place to set down our stuff, the fun began!
Now, I was never a good skater back then, always so clumsy and stumbling all over the place. But as soon as those blades hit the ice, I felt as natural as walking. I was freaking AWESOME. Gliding like a pro lol. I couldn’t say the same for her though. “My chance!!” , I thought to myself. So as she was going real slow, I slowed down next to her and held out my hand. ‘You okay?’ And she grabbed it! Huzzah! So we went for a few laps holding hands. I supported her all the way. Me looking back at her, she always smiled back. I like her smile.
She suddenly let go, ‘You go ahead’, she kept saying, ‘I got this’. All I wanted was to skate next to her, and just chat (although the loud music made that a little difficult). So, I did what she said. Skated a little ahead, but still stayed close by. What I ended up doing was skate in circles around her! I always looked back, and again, she would smile at me. All the time. She was definitely too afraid of falling to enjoy her time skating.
So we took a break, and conveniently it was time for the exhibition for the fundraiser. The ice was resurfaced and an ice skating champion was brought onto the rink. She did a routine, which was quite impressive,  and the raffles were called out. We didn’t win anything :(.
After the exhibition we skated a little bit more. She made a marked improvement compared to when she started. She kept up with me quite well. Pretty good!
She got a little tired, seeing as how we’ve been here for almost two hours. Personally, I could do this all night. So we both exited the rink and sat down at our settlement and decided what to do next. ‘Let’s eat noggi!’, she said. Sure, anything is fine with me.
At noggi, we ordered one multi to share. She picked the toppings, while I picked the flavours. We sat and talked. More about family and friends, pets, our day, future plans. After that we went for a walk. FOR AN HOUR.
She said, ‘we should walk  off the froyo, let it digest’. Her lack of knowledge on human physiology was almost too cute. I explained to her that the body digests best when it is at rest. ‘Learn something new everyday!’ At least she was open to it. We talked about our  fears, prospective careers, travel,  holidays, and just random shit! I couldn’t believe how fast the time flew.
It got real late, and well, I had training in the morning. I didn’t want it to end :(. Dropped her at her place, said our goodbyes and exchanged hugs, and headed straight home.

28.2.12
Pretty friggin' hot day today. Why did summer decide to arrive just now? Didn't do very much today went to work mainly. What really ticked me off was the new roster. I wanted to keep days off for study and training. Of course I was willing to sacrafice a few training days for work. But I REALLY wanted Thursday and Friday off since those were the main training days. So I sent the manager an email saying that I will only be available on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Bitch put me on Thursday AND Friday. If it doesn't change I'm definitely out. I have my priorities , and this place doesn't even compare to martial arts and uni.
Tonight I seemed to be more addicted to Dungeon Defenders than usual. It was pretty bad... I was unable to talk to the girl I usually talked to. So I kinda felt like an ass. Also, my chase was a little neglected too. Sad...

Still chasing 26.2.12
It seems a little foolish doesn't it? Not sure if it's working or not. But the chase is kind of fun! If it turns out for naught, then that'll be a bummer...
Still need to try a little harder though! This one's difficult.

Friend-zoned 21.2.12
Not the same girl as yesterday, but a previous interest has cast me into that zone no man wants to be in when he's interested in someone. Although, it's cool with me atm. I have someone else on my mind! Current friendzone level (assuming 100 is max):
LVL 23 : Just beginning, but getting the hang of it.

First Date!! 20.2.12
A night to remember. Picked her up at her house at 1900. Went to Doytao Thai in Padstow. Had a great time! There were these times when we were silent. I tried to pretend I was looking around to kind of ease it a bit, but it didn't work! Our eyes kept meeting and we'd both laugh! 'You're making me nervous!', she'd keep saying. It was kind of loud in there with all the bursting fire and sizzles and the chatter. And my deep voice wasn't helping! So here's me trying to remember what I think she might've told me:
Fav colour is Yellow
Watches TV shows more than movies, and recommended Vampire Diaries. Hasn't watched Community! Watches all the other main ones, i.e., Big Bang Theory, HIMYM, New Girl, etc.
Birthday either 12 or 21 of March. Couldn't hear!
Two older sisters and a lil bro. Closer to the second oldest sis. Oldest sis is 11 years older
Been to snows, but didn't snowboard or ski
Been to USA, and Vietnam, recommends I should go.
Recommends I go to Bega or somewhere near there (down south). Good beach
Used to do Kick Boxing and rock climbs every now and then, and starting Bikram yoga fairly soon(I didn't understand the yoga in 40 dgrees part, but sounds hawt)
Babysits a lot!
Doesn't have much time for herself :(
Not really into meat? (WHAT??)
Loves fish (Ordered some fish fillet thing)
Health aware, into healthy diets and stuff
NOT a gamer girl (Damn)
Loves chick flicks
Doesn't seem to like violence
From our convo, she isn't an idiot, and her logic is very much like mine! We have the same way of thinking about certain things.
Afterwards, we decided to go watch a movie. We went and saw 'This Means War'. We arrived at around 2040, but the session started at 2130, so we went upstairs to check out the current state of the cinema. She hadn't been to Bankstown Hoyts in a long while. She remembered there being games on the top level. That was freaking years ago!!
So we found a place to sit and had another chat. Time flew really fast! This time we talked about family and friends and even Vvn. It was good that she had experience with martial arts. Gave us something to talk about! Though she wasn't really into it. She even asked me to demonstrate! But I humbly declined (since it was time to go watch the movie, you know?) Checked out her ring. It was a freaking key! Gold plated. She had some charms and bracelets on her left wrist. Looked awesome too! Our hands touched! Her handth were tho thoft!
We were the only ones in the cinema! The movie was pretty awesome. We laughed, giggled, and 'woah'-ed. She even went in to lean against me. It felt pretty nice.
So the movie was done and ufortunately, it was time I took her home. On the way to her house, there was more talk of family and what we were doing tomorrow. Interesting stuff. She has to take care of her sick nephew. Sucks. She demanded I attend her birthday ceremony. I accepted, of course. Upon leaving, I gave her the best hug I could give. WITH TWO ARMS. She smelt nice too.
We are not official, but I'm more than interested after tonight. It's like all the other candidates flew out the window. Should be all good :)

Hardcore! 19.2.12
A full day of training just like last week. Two sessions of Vvn, and lion dancing session straight after. My legs are dead again.
Getting mentally ready for a dinner tomorrow with a friend. Havn't seen her in awhile, and still not sure what to talk about. Should be just fine!

Didn't do very much today, except training. Other than that, was pretty bored for most of the day. Played Dungeon Defenders! Bit worried about first date. Even though it is a 'catch-up'.

Too Hard 15.2.12
Went shopping for food and started on cooking for my diet. Hard work. Took me 2 hours and I still couldn't finish it all.
Had a bit of chill time before training.
Training time. I had the keys to the hall, so headed off early. It started off real bad. I could see the master losing faith in the class. It was made up of all kids and a couple older guys. All the kids are undisciplined, unfocused, unappreciative. They need a role model. Or moreso, some guy who pull off the flashiest moves for the kids to look up to. I'm all practical and little flash. But we had some progress. S'all good.
So I'm struggling here. Having a chat on FB with the girl. Progress seems really bad! I'm finding it really hard to keep up a convo! Need tips. Badly. I have a dinner date coming up, and I have no idea what to talk about! Crap...

Valentine's Day 14.2.12
That time of year again. In my 20 years, I’ve never experienced a Valentine’s day. What is Valentine’s day? Every other year, I didn’t really care about it. Until now. At first I used to think it was just an excuse for people to buy/receive flowers and chocolates. Why can’t that be any other day? But now, after watching a few movies and reading some stories, I realise that Valentine’s day is a reminder. A reminder that we have someone that loves us and/or someone we love. Heaps of relationships are dying because they lack intimacy or that spark that created that relationship. And days like these are here to diverge our attention from life, and just focus on someone. Anyone.
So I watched Love Actually. Many stories of love. Different types of love in different types of situations. A good watch.
The story I could relate to the most was the guy who loved a woman that was marrying his best friend. He handled it really well. For the benefit of his best friend, he didn’t pursue her, but he still gave her his feelings. ‘That’s enough’, he said himself afterwards. I know that feel bro.
Going out with someone who previously went out with your best friend. Many complications. The reason your best friend IS your best friend is because they think and behave similarly to you in many ways. So if your friend found something wrong the person, wouldn’t it be likely that you’d find similar flaws?
I’ve never experienced a friend going out with my ex. Mainly because I don’t have anyone to call my ex! But I’ve fallen victim to being the guy who’s friends take his crushes TOO many times! I lack the courage to do that kind of stuff. Risk taking isn’t particularly my forte. My loyalty to my friends is too great, and doing something like this makes me feel like I would betray them.

My legs are genuinely 'dead' 12.2.12
Woke up at around 9 to get ready for training in the morning. Skipped brekky. TOO LAZY. Left the house with a friend tagging along. My bro being his usual lazy ass didn't bother coming.
Morning training was pretty tough. An old Vvner came back to join with us. It's always good to see that guy. So we went through heaps of drills and leg techs. I've improved!
Straight after, we went to my place to eat. All 3 of us. We had to leave like 10 mins after finishing for Marrickville training.
The master there suits my training needs much better at the one at Chester Hill. Our warm up was fairly good, and the drills we had to do afterwards KILLED ME. We got into the patterns and stuff, then we got into doing LEG TECHS. Got a few tips from the master and more experienced guys. Apparently I'm getting the ideal height in my jumps, but I'm just not locking in properly. Good progress I'd say.
Next, we went straight to Dong Tam for me to try out lion dancing. I was fairly surprised when I came. They did things I never really expected. The only thing I did expect was the warm ups. Plenty of strengthening. 50 squat jumps (frog jumps) were a bitch, though. But there was a program they all had to follow! We had to know the theory, history, and the drum/gong beats before even touching a lion!
The theory was fairly interesting. The teacher there allowed me to view a set of questions each of the students were required to know, each with answers written. This made me realise all the roles and responsibilities available when at a performance. There were HEAPS. The teacher made it clear to me that they'd require me to do other jobs before using a lion. Roles like drummer, gong guy, sound system lifter, drum lifter, and heaps more! Basically I needed to be their bitch before riding with the big boys. Though the teacher knew me through Hapkido and has a good idea of my martial skill, he said there would be no special treatment. As expected. Good.
So there are 5 colours and each have their own meaning in Feng Shui; Green = Wood, Black = Water, Red = Fire, White = Metal and Yellow = Earth. Each colour are used for different lions, and each lion having their own personality. Unfortunately, I don't know if their personality is determined by colour, so I assume it's the guy holding the head that decides. There's a playful lion, a curious lion, a 'hungry' or greedy lion, and an aggressive lion. The playful seemed to have more head tilting than the others, and walks giddily. The curious lion seemed to have lots of small discrete sharp head movements with the head moving side to side, sort of like a cat looking at something interesting. The 'hungry' lion had a much lower stance, with head closer to the floor. The head also reached more forward, sort of like a dog sniffing for food. The head movements were much longer, but still had that same sharpness. The agressive lion is probably the more popular one, seen in many performances. The head movements are much faster, much more intimidating, and much of the time, the head is fully raised to eminate an overbearing and superior outlook. There are also lots of fancy leg movements. Pretty awesome stuff.
Also, all the head movements followed a specific 'grid'. Basically, it's like two pieces of bricks next to each other. Different movements made different shapes within the grid.
The story of the lion's horn and mirror was pretty interesting. The horn is the lion's source of life. The Jade emperor decided to cut it off because the lions were being disrespectful. But this goddess of mercy sympathised for them and gave them their horns back but with a red ribbon attached. Now that's all the info thy gave me. I thought of the red ribbon as a pact to the goddess, though only my imagination can only bring me the possible conditions. And why didn't the emperor just cut them off again? The mirror on the lion's forehead was to ward off demons and bad spirits. Apparently, the bad spirits are afraid of their own reflection.
The questions also outlined the responsibilities of each person. Stuff like what to do when loading equipment, what to do with weapons, gear etc. Boring stuff
After awhile, they let me into one of the heads of the lion. I got one of the heavier senior ones. There was a cushion at the back to rest on your head. The mechanism for the eyes are pretty cool. Holding the head up for awhile was pretty tiring. I was probably fatigued from training so much prior. The stance for holding the head was quite different from what I imagined. The back or posture of the holder is meant to be slightly forward. Good back workout. Doing the 'grid' movements seemed easy enough, but trying to give the lion an emotion was fairly difficult. Trying to impersonate the different personalities wasn't easy. The one I'd probably suit most would be the aggressive lion.
The training place had something I thought was pretty cool. They hung up all of their previous lion suits all over the wall. Each lion had their fair share of experiences and were pretty much falling apart. Most of the lions, Dong Tam made themselves, but some were bought. The one that most appealed to me was the one they called 'The Tank'. Shit I knew that was the lion for me. It was made of heavy duty stuff. Could probably knock someone out witha good swing of it!!
I came home at about 8:30 pm. Pretty damned tired. My legs were dead. If I stood up straight, I would've cramped up. Too low, same effect. Being stuck in the middle sucks balls. But yeah. Today was heaps good.

Warrior Dash!! 11.2.12
A 5.3k run with a few obstacles. Gotta say I was disappointed. Mainly because I was expecting muh more cool and difficult obstacles and much less mud. The whole run was basically trying to balance on the damned slippery mud. In order there was;
A run up and downhill on a dirt track
A forest of mud. There were trees everywhere and the whole place was covered in stinky ass mud. At the end of the forest was a small trench of water
A chest deep creek we had to cross with a wall of dirt to climb. The wall was freaking muddy so there was no footing.
Then came a series of knee deep water with holes dug everywhere, designed to make the competitor fall off their feet
Then more running in the mud
An alternating combo of chest high walls and barbed wire to go through
A bunch of balance beams of varying width, going up, then across, then down
A steep wall with a rope hanging to climb with, and a wide step ladder to go down from. So easy
More running
More trenches and dips to jump over
A field of barbed wire to crawl under
Two rope challenge, one at the feet, the other above the head, and a creek at the bottom to fall into. This one was actually good. The ropes weren't taut, and flopped around everywhere
More running
A wall of cargo nets to climb
More running
A cargo net field to walk/crawl across
More running
A creek with a wooden ladder/wall type thing
A wall of fire to jump over!!!!! It was nothing. The fire was about knee high, and I was basically prancing over them like a beautiful dancer.
A field of barbed wire with a bed of mud water under it. Basically we had to get our whole body in the mudwater to get through.
Overall, there was much more running than obstacle conquering. Even then the obstacles were too easy.
Washing off was a pain in the ass as well, and we were almost trapped because there was so much mud surrounding the parking.
At the end of the day we ate at Habibs, and MAN did that shit taste good.
One thing did catch my eye though. I got to see the girl today. And I was pretty much staring at her. She was holding her hair in such a charming way, just staring into space. Wonder what she was thinking about.
