The robins’ arrested development is fascinating to me on a meta level.

The first child sidekick of the golden age of comics, never meant to be a man, a child for forty years who fought and demanded the right to grow up.

The second robin is slain in his career’s infancy. An unaging symbol of lost innocence because innocence itself was no longer required. Who burst back out of his grave unwillingly, in a man’s body, dragged into adulthood all at once. A child killed twice over.

The third robin, who was comfortable in his place as a child as a sidekick, evicted because someone else needed that spot, only to be wedged back into the box. Not quite a man, but he can’t go back to being a boy either, stuck in the in between.

And the fifth robin, still a child. Destined to grow into an adult role that will never be vacated, and so cannot grow up.

I'm rereading BW: Murderer? and it genuinely is still one of my favorite arcs maybe ever because the group drama is so crunchy

like the way the kids can't even agree EVEN AS THEY'RE CONFRONTING BRUCE whether or not they actually think he might have committed a murder is insane! this whole story is such a good character study of Bruce but it also gets so deep in the cracks of how so many other characters feel about him and the incredible strain of caring about someone who is incredibly hard to care for. and it's so well coordinated across so many writers and books, genuinely crazy shit.

We absolutely cannot emphasize enough that misogyny is an ideology soaked in blood. Misogynists kill women every day in their homes, at their jobs, when they're pregnant, when they're just trying to transition in peace, when they solicit them for sex work, when they're walking down the street, when they're at school, when they're sleeping, when they're begging them not to, when theyre colonizing their countries, when they're abusing their children, and sometimes they do it with their fists and sometimes they do it with assault rifles. To reduce it to anything less serious than that is shameful.
