He learned cowboy slang and sayings and throws a fit when he cant find his cowboy hat thinking someone stole it. He calls David his beau and likes giving david his hat because it feels significant.

Steel has multiple outfits as many non-dancing Newsies do. His standard outfit is in cold colours of grey, silver and metallic.

He puts on his best at Medda's, going for a warmer tone and wearing a plaid shirt under a dark vest.

But he's not dressed up to impress Medda, he's actually there to see Denton. Steel wants to continue in the newspaper industry and become a reporter. He puts on his jacket and goes to introduce himself to Denton.

Before he gets a chance to do so, Snyder arrives.

And then all hell breaks loose. Steel continues to follow Denton, hoping for another opportunity to chat with the ace war correspondent. One of the important question he wants to ask Denton is how he makes a headline out of a hunch.

Wherever the star reporter is, Steel is sure to be not far behind.

When he's not trying to advance his career, Steel can be found hanging out with his pal, Dutchy.
