Letting out a soft and playful chuckle, he also sympathized with her despite having absolutely no idea what it would even feel like. "Only a few more months babe," his smile was soft and warm as he began to set up lunch for the both of them. "I try. And oh great," he nodded and then stopped what he was doing to give her his full attention. At the mention of her parents, he nodded again, "absolutely. I'd like that very much." There was no way he'd honor his own parents but he would absolutely honor hers, and also he had already gotten to help name two children, so he was more than happy to allow Tam to take the reigns and delegate the twins' names moreso. "Join the club, with Riley and Lilly I'm pretty sure I mulled over their names for so long. Back and forth and bsck and forth," he rolled his eyes as he spoke, motioning back and forth with his hands. "Fifteen? Damn girl," he teased and motioned for the phone before she slid it to him, "I'm pretty easy going with names. And however we can honor your parents is a great idea."

“That’s definitely what it feels like, honestly.” Tamara laughed lightly, allowing Theo to take the lead and set out their spread. Getting comfortable in her office chair was easy thanks to the extra cushioning Tamara had ensured she get well ahead of her third trimester. “You do spoil us, and I love you for that. But — I’m glad you brought names up, because I’ve been thinking about it and, well… I want to pay tribute to my parents somehow. I mean, I wouldn’t be who I am without them.” Using her mother’s name as a middle name was naturally an option, one she instantly warmed up to. “But first names? There’s so many beautiful options, it’s almost hard to narrow it down.” She paused, fingernails tapping the wooden desk featherlightly before pulling out her mobile. “I’ve got a solid 15 names on this, maybe if you have a look it’ll be easier to come to some options.” Opening up her notes, she slid it over to Theo before tugging one of the dishes closer towards herself.

"Oh definitely," he nodded, "I'm sure all those guidelines have changed over the years. And true, I mean four is a hell of a lot closer to a baby than thirteen." He let out his own laugh, a hunt of nervousness behind it, not so much about having a child but everything that could possibly happen or go wrong. But he wasn't sweating it, at least now t yet, he had time didn't he? Even if he didn't, he trusted his instincts and those of Tamara, and he had a whole village of people to help if need be. "Yeah, they were cool looking but a bitch to take off," he shook his head and then frowned at what he r mother had done though it wasn't surprising by any means. Letting out a laugh, he shook his head, "you mean I can't just keep their hospital bracelets on their wrist for their entire lives so we can tell the difference?" He asked before gently nudging his brother, "I guess that's what little brothers are really for huh?"
Letting out a soft laugh as Theodore mentioned Tamara being a pediatrician, and having things figured out, he nodded his head. "She'll know what the twins will need, what's safe, what's not safe. And you could probably ask Cordelia for advice -- I know Rosalyn and Cienna are a little older, but she probably remembers what it was like to try to put a nursery space together for Rosalyn, at least," and he was sure that there were other parents in town or… blogs? Is that what parents did these days, was google different things that they could read on the internet to help them learn a little bit more about parenting? Alright, so Jason was pretty clueless about the whole thing, but he was still sure that his brother would figure it out. One step at a time. "Half the time when you took them down, you'd rip the paint off, too. I know this, 'cuz mom made me repaint my entire room after I insisted on putting them on the ceiling," which hadn't been his favorite memory, but he still thought that it was worth it to have a night sky above him when he went to sleep at night. "You'd just have to give them different hair cuts or like… make one wear a bracelet all the time," and hope that they didn't think it was hilarious to switch places. Grinning, he shrugged his shoulders, "can you blame me for wanting to help them out with torturing you?"

The aanticipation of the arrival of both bundles of joy had Theo feeling extra attentive, affectionate, and even a little overprotective as of late. Which meant checking in on Tam even at work, though he knew in case anything had happened, she was technically in the best possible place she needed to be. But that didn't mean he couldn't have lunch with her, especially on mornings where their paths didn't cross due to his shift ending when it did. "Hi," he said again with a smile, how gaze softening at the woman before him, "are they using your bladder as a trampoline?" He let out a soft chuckle, placing his hand over hers as she squeezed his shoulder as she walked by him. As he held up the bag, he nodded, knowing how cafeteria food wasn't exactly five star dining, even for someone who wasn't pregnant. "My girls only deserve the best," he wiggled his eyebrows before opening the bag and started to divvy up the food. "Speaking of which, I don't think baby girl one and baby girl two are gonna cut it as their names. I think they'll start to rebel before they're even crawling."
It seemed like time was moving so slowly as of late. Even still, Tamara willed herself to view that as a blessing as opposed to an inconvenience. The fact that she even got to the police she was, her heart and soul intertwined with who she truthfully believed to be her one and only, had her thanking every star above. “Hey — “ she’d caught a glimpse of someone within her office, stepping inside with a relieved yet gracious sigh and squeezing his shoulder as she passed Theo. “I had to go to the bathroom — again — shocker.” Tam threw Theo an amused glance, the scent of food filling her nostrils. “Thank you. This sure beats the cafeteria food, let me tell you — it has me gagging sometimes, which is so bad because normally I’d be fine eating it, but… I suppose with these two it just doesn’t cut it.”

Who: @drtamarahayes and Theo
Where: Merrock Hospital, Tam's office
When: June 2025
Having a long shift the day before, Theo had come home that morning and gone straight to bed for a long and much needed nap. He hadnt crossed paths with Tam and he so wanted to see her, after few rough calls from the prior shift. So after his nap, he ordered take out from her favorite place in town, picked it up, and made his way over to her office to surprise her. Knocking softly on the door to her office, he poked his head inside seeing it was empty so he made himself comfortable while waiting for her to finish whatever she was doing. Hearing the door open, he smiled, "Hey you. I brought lunch. "

"True, and I like to think my limits aren't so strict," he let out a laugh, as he always tried to be a laid back guy, one who's limits weren't pushed too easily. "You sure six is enough?" He leaned forward, playfully inspecting his friend's face before leaning back and laughing a belly laugh. "I'm only teasing," and he truly was and he hoped Joshua knew that, evident by the squeeze Theo gave to his friend on the arm. "Of course I wouldn't, trust me," he nodded with a soft smile before raising an eyebrow. "Good to know. I figured there was a code but didn't know how to ask or find out."
"Everyone's got to have them," he agreed with a laugh and a nod of his head. After all, without limits, what stopped you from taking things too far? Or enjoying what you had, instead of always thinking that you wanted more? That was the way that life worked, for better or for worse. "Yes, I do," he agreed with a grin, lifting one hand to gently tap against his own cheek, "it takes a solid six hours every night if I want to look this good, I'll have you know." And then some, but the sleep was where it all started. "I don't think you would," he shook his head, a sincere smile on his face. "Now, if you needed help with something, genuinely, you know that I would answer. Especially if it's bike related, it's basically a biker's code to not leave a fellow rider stranded without help, after all."

"Good," Theo said as a matter of factly, "even the good. Especially the good. Don't take that stuff personally either." That'll really throw you for a loop and get you too invested, having done so himself on more than one occasion. Theo let out a laugh, shooting her a look, "people will go to any lengths for some things. Once they set their minds to something, there's no changing it." He gave her a smile before laughing, "I don't miss them at all," he started scratching though he now had a cat and regularly took allergy meds for it. As they entered the lockeroom and he got to his locker, he leaned against it, "I have never slept through an alarm here," he pointed to her, "and I never plan on doing so." He sighed and went to open his locker as the bells rang, "might as well."
"Oh, that's the first thing I picked up with any job." She learned not to take things personally. They had so many hours on shift that getting stuck on one call wasn't going to help any of them. "I know I love a good crime doc but it's crazy the lengths people would go through and that lady was just lucky to not be there when it happened." Which she was glad for even if they thought she was home. Jo knew that she had to keep moving forward. "I almost miss the days of the getting cats from trees." She nodded putting in her locker combination. "Naps are necessary just don't forget to set an alarm." She closed her locker just as the alarm sounded off again. "Well, next shift is barely in... want to go for it?"

Happy Father's day @cagenewman. I saw this mug and couldn't resist. As my brother-in-law, I figured I'd get you a little something, it's nothing major but just a way to thank you also for always treating my sister and niece right.
So thanks,
Theo

happy father's day, @theobrowningfd!
I know, just what you need when you have twins on the way: another thing you're responsible for keeping alive! But it'll be fun. You're pretty good at it, from what I can see. I hope your ice cream float is delicious and Riley and Lilly spoil you rotten today, brother. Happy Father's Day!

"I believe you, I believe you," he put his hands up, dusting off any crumbs he had on them, shaking his head truly believing his brother. He didn't take him for the cheating kind, whether it came to family game nights or anything. Neither was he, two good and honest men they were, a far cry from the generations before them. "I hope so, and honestly I don't know. It's been over a decade since I had to decorate a nursery," his shoulders both lifted into a shrug, "it's a learning curve again. Ya know, what things are recommended and all that. Good thing their mom is a pediatrician huh?" She would definitely be up to date on the latest information regarding babies and kids and he had full faith in her. "I remember those, they were a pain to hang and then take down. But hey if any of my kids want them, I'll just ask when and how many," he grinned, as that was the type of dad he was and always would be. "Honestly I'm hoping they aren't identical, because god knows I'd feel like shit ever mixing them up," and then he gave Jason a faux stern look, "of course you would, Exactly why I am absolutely hoping they look nothing alike."

"Incredibly sure," he said on a laugh, "but lucky for you, I'm not the cheating kind. At games or anything else," maybe when he had been a kid… but who didn't occasionally cheat on a math test or flub their way through the rules of a board game just to come out ahead of everyone that they were playing against? Different times, though. Jason was mostly grown now. "Things have changed a lot," he agreed with a nod of his head, "but I also think people kind of got tired of the beige trend, right? Or at the very least, they started to complain about it and made it clear that people wanted to see more color in the world," or at least in the world that little kids shared. They wanted them to be bright and imaginative, have something for themselves. Which he could understand; a kid's room should be a reflection of themselves, not really something to match the parents' aesthetic. "I don't blame you -- but it could look cool, maybe toss some of those glow in the dark stars on the ceiling… or lots of neon accent colors." But if he ever needed to paint over that black, it probably wasn't going to end very well. He might have wanted a lot of paint brushes, rollers and dark colors on hand for that day. "You never know, they could end up not looking alike, right?" He wasn't honestly sure how the twin thing worked, knew it was all a science, but. "Because I would, and it would be fun."

Though Theo jogged and would go for runs, he never went fast. This dog he and Sam were chasing was way faster than either man, and it was giving Theo a run for his money. As he picked the pace, he was happily surprised to see Sam do the same, both on par with the dog. "Go for it, I'll be right behind you and try to grab the leash," he hugged out seeing Sam miss the collar but glad he got the leash before Theo did. "Damn," he shook his head and tried to slow himself down.
Sam was a little relieved when he heard Theo's comment about the dog's speed. He wasn't imagining it. He wondered if the owner trained the dog to run that fast. Although, as he ran to keep up, he was a bit more surprised at his and Theo's speed, they somehow managed to keep up with the dog. "I'm gonna try to grab his collar," he said as he pushed himself to run faster, getting closer before reaching to grab the dog's collar, completely missing it as the dog moved to avoid him, and deciding to try grabbing the leash as he let out a string of swear words.

"Eh fame and fortune are overrated," he waved it off with a chuckl before giving Cage a nod, "absolutely. I've seen what you can do, and I figured a bird house is just on a smaller scale." He had seen things first hand, both in the shop and the real world, with his and Delias's house being one of those things. Though Theo could do some basic construction, he wasn't nearly as skilled as Cage, happy to have his brother in law do any real big projects that might come up in his own home. He let out a soft laugh, "I'm sure I definitely do, and if not on the fridge, probably hanging in my office at the firehouse." Theo liked to decorate his office and give it his personal touch, whether it involved pictures or artwork from his kids, his niece, kids he saved or kids who took a tour of the fire station. "I will gladly take some ocean artwork from Cienna, even if it didn't, I'd be honored to hang her artwork on the fridge." He meant it, he was a sentimental guy and artwork from little kids made his heart swell, he loved to see what their young imaginations could come up with. Shaking his head and then seesawing it a bit, "honestly not really, I mean don't get me wrong to each their own but for me? I like adding in color and making a nursery lively."
"Yeah, I can't say that I'm in it for any kind of fame and fortune," he laughed, shaking his head, "but thanks for the vote of confidence, anyway." Cage just liked to build, get his hands dirty, make things that he could use -- things that his family could use. Birdhouses were a good place to throw that energy, especially with a farm like the one that they lived on. "You probably do," he replied with a smile, knowing that both girls were very fond of making art pieces, and loved sharing them with people, too. "Cienna would be happy to make you something -- she's on a big ocean kick lately, so you might end up getting turtles or sharks, but hey, it's Maine, it works." Their own refrigerator at home was covered in paintings and drawings and torn out pages from their favorite coloring books. Not to mention the stacks in his office on the deck, given to him by two very eager, excited little girls. "You don't want to be a beige dad?" Cage asked with a grin, reaching to play with a carving knife that had been left on the table. "But I get it. Your sister and I haven't talked about potential future nurseries, just potential future babies, but I think I'd want a splash of color, too."

He let out an exhale and then shook his head, though he agree with Josh. "Exactly, I mean I thrive on excitement and chaos but I do have my limits you know," he gestured as if to say no more, finito, that's all folks. He was happy with the chaos he had, and would be adding to his life, but a puppy was overdoing it. Putting a hand on his hip, Theo playfully shook his head, "wow," he scoffed before laughing, "I do. I definitely do respect your need for sleep. You do need your beauty sleep. And I say with the love and affection as one of your best friends." He was only teasing, and he couldn't help but play into things, "but no really. I would never do that to anyone trust me. Though if I was ever out on a ride and my bike broke down at two in the morning, now that's a different story my friend."
"Yeah, no thank you," he winced playfully, shaking his head. While there was chaos that could be fun to try to handle, there was also chaos that was just creating too much extra stress for one person to deal with. And he was pretty sure that Theo was going to have enough on his hands, he didn't need to add more to his plate. Besides, one thing at a time seemed like the best way to handle things. "Oh, don't get me wrong, we're friends. Good friends, great friends, best friends," he widened his eyes a bit as he looked over at Theo, "but that means that you respect my need for a good night's sleep and understand if I don't answer the phone at three AM to a sobbing mess on the other side -- and I'm not referring to one of the babies when I say that, either!"
