𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐍'𝐓 unlike axel to be drinking on a thursday night, though recently it was unlike him to not be drinking alone. maybe it was the claustrophobic realization that everyone knew his name, but he just hadn’t been in the mood for big clubs lately. tonight, his partner in crime was theo – someone you certainly didn’t expect to be able to keep up with him. he walked in, a content smile plastered on his face. “what’d you guess?” he hoped it was vodka, or tequila, or… anything really, he wasn’t that picky. “well – i think this next album’s gonna be a masterpiece, that’s all i’ll say.”
theo rested his chin against his hand as axel joined him. there was already a slight flush to his cheeks courtesy of the gin and tonic that he was nursing. he looked tired, yet here he was. “figured you’ve always been a fan of vodka.” he furrowed his eyebrows. “at least, if your music videos are right” theo commented, softly. he brightened, shifting his body towards the other. “i’m excited to hear it.”

his letterman jacket is almost full of patches commemorating various achievements earned during his ongoing varsity baseball career — but there is one oddball : a little football - shaped patch on one of the arms in honor of a championship win that nate feels like he barely contributed to, but he received the patch because he’s on the team and a starting player, no less. he’s the running back and he’s not very good, but he likes playing football. he walked into his coach’s office with his arms tucked into the identifiable article of clothing ( as usual ) and his default idle smile. at first, he was unsure of where he recognized the other student in the room from, but once it clicked his mouth fell open in excitement and astonishment, and he immediately went in for a handshake. “oh, dude, you’re the new kicker,” he gushed, “i saw you at tryouts. you’re a fucking beast.” / @theocannon·
sitting there in front of the coach, theo can’t help but feel like he made it. he just started high school, and yet, here he was on the high school football team. he was so excited to meet his teammates and get on the field. he looked over his shoulder as the door opened behind him, his eyes widened in recognition. “wait-- nate carpenter. dude you’re--” he shook the other’s hand with an excited grin. “thanks man, means a lot coming from you. i’ve seen you play- baseball, too.”

Nora, Nora, Nora – and never before has the sound of her own name hit so deeply, somewhere beneath the ribs. She’s momentarily stunned, rendered motionless even as he extends her misplaced phone. And the closeness is too much, the height difference is too much ( after four years of nothing ) and she feels her reluctance equally torn in two directions; to pull away entirely, or to allow the ghost of her past to claim her. How are you on this fine evening? He asks with an air of nonchalance. And the silence has never felt as loud as it does when it drops like a curtain between the two of them. On one side there’s Nora, eyes glimmering the way they do before she cries, and on the other side there’s Theo, drunk and beaming. He’s practically a stranger, and she feels like an alien unable to communicate; frozen in a space which isn’t her to belong in. She wants to reach out and touch him ( the impulse heady ) but she can’t for fear that it will only splinter the cracks already chipping across the paintwork of what had — years ago — been the wooden shell of something they could build on, something that could actually work. Had everything not fallen to shit.
Nora tries to push away those dark feelings of hopelessness that crowd in around her; the hot curl of ire remaining somewhere low down. And she looses a hollow bark of incredulous laughter that echoes in the cavernous walkway. How is she on this fine evening? She opens her mouth to speak, something bitter lodged in the back of her throat; she takes a breath. The question, that’s all you have to say to me? poised on the tip of her tongue. He can’t be serious. Though, what comes out instead is, “I — how’re you getting home, Theo?” Her words practically shards of gravel. And when Theo doesn’t reply, doesn’t do anything but look at Nora with his fucking pink lips parted, her anger begins to rekindle tenfold. Because it is easier to control than this unfathomable attraction which is bone-deep in her body. She looks away from him as though she’s been doused in cold water, their fingers brushing momentarily as she takes back the proffered phone with shaky hesitance. “You’re drunk,” She accuses. And though she herself isn’t quite sober by any stretch of the imagination, he is more intoxicated than any state she’s witnessed prior. “Is there someone I can call for you?” The question like ice. Hold yourself together, Nora, she wills herself.
what a sick move, universe. out of all the people theo could have run into tonight, it just had to be nora. anyone but nora and he’d be relieved. right now, the only thing helping him was the fact that there was so much whiskey in his veins that nothing really surprised him anymore. his reactions were muted. though nora had a huge effect on theo, he couldn’t feel it...yet. he couldn’t really feel anything. a cool wind ruffled his dark hair, which was already unruly due to the amount of times he ran his fingers through it. his eyes were focused on the girl in front of him. how was it possible that she looked exactly the same? he couldn’t help but examine the features he memorized so long ago. theo chuckles but there was nothing funny about this. there was a long silence, his arm out stretched in the air, waiting for her.
there’s a warm feeling buzzing through his body. he somehow feels heavy yet light as a feather. this almost feels like a dream. but it’s not. if it was a dream, thalia would still be alive and nora wouldn’t be so close to tears. at her question, theo’s eyebrows furrow as if he didn’t think about that. perhaps he didn’t. theo never expects to get this wasted yet it happens over and over again.”i’m-” he points a finger over his shoulder, the general direction of his apartment. “i’m plannin’ on taking the scenic route,” he tilts his head to the side. it’s clear he’s not all there. he couldn’t even argue at her accusation. when wasn’t he drunk. “you’re beautiful.” he pauses. “i’m not that drunk,” theo corrects but it’s not much of a win. the actor shuts his eyes momentarily, the dizziness making him nauseous. when his eyes open once more, they find the ground. licking his lips, theo shakes his head. “whose there to call? uh...no, no one. me, you could call me.” there’s a sadness in his words yet it’s so familiar to theo at this point. “i’m fine, though. better than fine,” he slurs, shrugging his shoulders. “golden.”

“you’re spider-man, theo. with great power comes great responsibility,” she teased, a playful tone and smile on her lips. glancing at the clock, she tilted her head as she looked back at the other. “why don’t we call it a day and get a bite? we should pace ourselves anyway,” she shrugged to indicate it wasn’t a big deal. “and next movie, you should come train with me at rhett’s gym. his trainer kicks your ass.”
he placed his hand over his heart as if her words stung. theo stretched his arms over his head and groaned. “sounds like a great idea,” the boy agreed with a grin. “i’m ravenous.” he chuckled. “i can’t wait to get my ass kicked.”

closed starter for : @theocannon !!
It’s two minutes after closing time, and (despite their protests) Nora and company have been unceremoniously shoved out into the night by the bar’s owner who had been pleased, but overall unmoved by the group’s extravagant tipping. The shockingly fresh breeze taking the edge off her warm glow; but it’s still an effort to remain completely upright. Flushed and unable to smother the soft laughter bubbling inside her chest. (A lightweight these days, much to her own dismay and the amusement of her companions. Her wild youth long gone.) And she stumbles slightly, concentrates hard on continuing to put one foot in front of the other, following the lead of the group as they travel to the next destination. Truthfully, it’d been an effort on their part to convince her out in the first place; Nora often preferring the solitude of her apartment (and some good company) to the hot, dark, glitter-drenched bars people her age prefer to occupy. Though, now pleasantly buzzed (her love of tequila rekindled) and more alight than she’s felt in months, Nora is grateful for the outing.
“I need to fuckin’ pee!” someone calls out, and the group is forced into an abrupt standstill. Brief words exchanged as half the group disappears inside after their friend; “Are you coming?” someone asks, and she shakes her head; her phone produced from her pocket. “Go. I’ll be alright out here,” She assures them with a slight shove in the direction of the door. A light chuckle passing her lips as she takes the opportunity to scroll through a pile of missed notifications; a text from Nate, a few likes on instagram, an email from her assistant. It seems lively inside, at the very least; the brief opening of the bar’s door allowing the sound of pulsing music and the roar of conversation to filter through. Though, she barely registers that thought before she’s suddenly being thrown off balance; her phone toppling to the cement below as a shoulder connects with her own. The tequila dampening the sudden rush of irritation; however, as she turns to protest (and perhaps mutter an apology. a terrible habit she posses to apologize for other’s mistakes) the moonlight illuminates Nora’s brief flash of panic and turns her widened eyes iridescent; the cold night air hitting her like a slap in the face. The vivid, sobering image of Theo before her eyes causing her stomach drops through the floor; an incessant prickle of nervousness refusing to be ignored. She pales. And Nora stands unmoving for a few seconds, trying to make her mouth wet enough to swallow; a single word, “— Theo…?” spoken into the night air as she urges her voice out from the hard knot which it has become.
it was a regular night for theo in which he probably won’t remember. they all start to blur together anyway. a bar. the drinks. the fake friends for the night. it became a tradition, though the bar always changed. he never wanted to become a ‘regular’ because then that might form bonds and friendships- the very things he didn’t want, because he would only let them down. in the beginning, theo would go out with group of friends, that way, there was an excuse. oh my friends dragged me out. oh we’re celebrating a birthday. this one got a promotion. but eventually it wasn’t enough. theo could pretend he had friends waiting on him inside, but the truth was he was going in alone. he was always alone.
his cheeks were flushed, both from the heat and the liquor coursing through his veins. he somehow felt alive without feeling anything at all. the only thing theo felt was warm. sure, it was a misdirected warmth- not one that came with an embrace or cup of tea- but it would have to do. stumbling out of the the bar, the cool air momentarily burning his skin. theo lost his balance when he walked onto the street, his shoulder colliding with the nearest person. “oop- sorry ‘bout that” he murmured, soft voice muted with a slur. he bent down to pick up the girl’s misplaced phone, almost falling over until his hand reached out for the building wall. standing up, he waited for the world to stop spinning before focusing on the person. “whew, stood up too fast. here’s your phone,” theo said, holding the phone out in front of him. dazed eyes focus on the figure in front of him. shiny hair. floral perfume. beautiful eyes. he grinned, though large, it did not entirely meet his eyes. “nora, nora, nora. how are you on this fine evening?”

theo checked his watch once more before looking towards the door. his face relaxed in relief once he spotted axel. he made a gesture to get his attention and called him over. “i ordered us some drinks. i didn’t know what you liked, so i just guessed.” his voice was soft- out of place in an establishment like this. liquor already on his breath, theo pulled his hoodie on tighter. “how are you doing?” @axelhttp

stas laughed brightly, as if she hadn’t just done an overzealous amount of cardio. “oh, come on, nugget! get back up!” she practically skipped over to him, extending an arm to help him back to his feet. her eyes rolled playfully as she shook her head. “and you’re spider-man. you’ve got more in you, i know it,” she said for genuine encouragement as she pulled him off the ground. “leaving you here to die kind of defeats the whole avengers assemble mindset.”
chest rising and falling with every breath as he glanced stas. “you put too much faith in me,” he teased before taking her hand and helping himself up. theo nodded his head and took his mask all the way off. he found that it was better to train with his mask in the long run, but terrible in the short run. “the things we do for beauty,” he complained, lightly.

he knocked once or twice on stevie’s door before letting himself in. “stevie? it’s me, not an axe murder!” theo called as he kicked off his shoes, careful not to trip over them as he walked in. “i brought pizza and i didn’t mess up the order this time,” he commented, placing the pizza box on the counter. he sighed and looked around. “do you have any beer?” @stcvies

“stas...i’m too tired...i’ll never move again...” he groaned, rolling onto his back and pulling his spiderman mask up so that he could breathe. do a training with stas. that would be fun. except not. he closed his eyes. “just leave me here to die, thanks,” theo murmured before cracking a smile. “can’t believe i’m training with the captain marvel,” he half-teased. @stasiiahq
