The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

Royal whumpee/conqueror whumper prompts!

Whumper referring to whumpee by their title sarcastically. Bonus points if they add a "my" in front of it or any other diminutive.

Whumper sitting on the throne that used to be whumpee's, with whumpee being forced to be by their feet. Non-con potential obvious.

Whumpee that's captured before the rest of his family/house and is used as a living weapon to bring their own kingdom down.

When this is revealed, whumper makes an extremely public display of showing just how loyal to them whumpee is.

Forced marriage to whumper to legitimize whumper's reign.

Public humiliation in front of whumpee's former people in general. Maybe whumpee is dragged naked through the streets.

Whumpee being kept in the very same prisons that they used to keep their own enemies in. Was whumpee a good ruler? A cruel one?

Betrayal coming from whumpee's personal guard! Maybe whumper has pulled off a coup.

Whumper "sharing" whumpee, with whumper's most loyal people. See above for additional heartbreak.

Whumpee forced to watch as their own people are mistreated or other members of their family executed.

Whumpee that learns that although they'd thought they were a very good ruler, their people actually hate them and would side with whumper.

I hate when a tiny stupid thing pushes you over the edge and makes you freak the fuck out because it makes you look like a completely irrational tar pit of a human being. "there should be some kind of test you have to take before having kids" -> wrong, extremely dangerous and highkey eugenicist and racist "the youth should have safe and effective legal pathways at their disposal to make sure their human rights are constantly protected and upheld" -> based, centers the youth, gives minors more power to fight inequality and does not reinforce the idea that parents are immune to scrutiny from their kids

the morning after the pride parade

when the flags return to the wall and your head aches for water and the coffee can’t brew fast enough may the photos you’re tagged in show you in that good light the kind of light that lets you see yourself, really see yourself through the eyes of you at twelve years old, who (oh, if only you knew) would think “wow wow wow they are so cool. so them. so everything-i-wanna-be-but-don’t-know-if-i’m-allowed-yet” that good light that’s so damn allowed because you crowbarred the hinges off a closet that couldn’t contain it sort of light. 

remember. our ancestors didn’t just die for this. they lived for it:

this stained glass chapel to house our sacred hearts. this is the sort of beauty that’s bled for with broken glass and fist and brick. centuries of fight and flamboyance fierce and fab, a found ancestry of us and our friends between and through revolutions around the sun.

i think what bothers me about a lot of "girl power" narratives is that they function on the implicit idea on the idea that women can become worthy of respect. and i happen to think that really caring about women means believing they already are worthy of respect. that historical seamstresses and soccer moms and forgotten sisters and sweet polite little girls and someone's weird grandma matter just as much as the warriors and politicians, even if they, personally, never accomplish anything "cool."
