This whole song gives me Emotions but this part is burned into me:
“When I'm bent over, wishin' it was over
Makin' all variety of vows I'll never keep
I try to remember the wrath of the devil
Was also given him by God”
Titus sees Macrides as The Wildfire on only 4 occasions. It’s intentional on Titus’ part; wanting to distance himself from this being of fury and destruction that he says couldn’t be the same man as his father (Titus goes into denial hardcore, he’s a master at this point). But really, he just can’t handle the idea that the fury and destruction he himself wrought as The Overgrowth was actually him following in his father’s footsteps, just like Ambrose had told him as a child.
But the fury and destruction didn’t start in Macrides. He had gotten it from his father, Korgrove. And Korgrove had gotten it from his, and so on. And I think when Macrides comes to him in Ruin era Titus, having met Macrides’ family in the fae realm, is more understanding of that.

i think my favourite version of doubling/mirroring is actually when one person is a possible future version of the other. and in turn that person is looking at the other and seeing their past self. the beginning and the end points of the same road.
