The Cutest-Foodiest Date of My Life!
Sooo back in January, I just had the cuuuuuuuuuuuutest-full of food-ish date of my life!
I met this girl unexpectedly (pls pls pls dont ask me in details! haha) surprisingly, we came from the same University and yet in span of 4 years, we never had a chance to run into each other even for once. Life works in a funny way, isn’t it? We’ve talk and talk and talk about lots of stuffs, it’s exciting how can I found someone who were actually near but yet so far and happened to have a common likes in music such as: THE BEATLES, omg I was like, who loves Beatles in this kind of EDM era, right? And she happened to like Beatles as well, one in a million! And she likes Maliq & D’Essentials too! She must be a very sweet girl, you should agree with me at this one.
Then turns out we made an appointment to have a stroll around the city, to do a culinary ride and to do a story telling session. Yes, she really likes to tell me her stories and she listened to mine as well. She likes to have a conversation, from a light talk to a deep one. How can you not fall in love with this girl?
So that morning, she picked me up at Benhil area near my place, and I offer to drive her car and so she agreed with that. It was the first time we met yet it feels like we’ve known each other for a while because there was no awkward silence or a heavy air breath at all! Hahahahaha I guess the only thing that can explain that is that how we communicate well, so it was all cool and flows with a nice rhythm.
Okay so! I thought she’s that kind of girl who likes to eat at a fancy place around the city, and I was expecting her to take me to some steakhouse, or a sushi house, but guess what? SHE TOOK ME TO A TRADITIONAL MARKET! Yeap you’re not reading it wrong, she took me to Mayestik Market in South Jakarta area. She got 100 points for that, which makes me happy, why? Because that simply means I don’t have to go way too “formal” to be on the same wavelength of talks/lifestyle with her. That’s like the biggest plus point on her scoreboard.
The first thing we do once we arrive at the traditional market is that...she bought a bunch of Lekker crepes! And plus...PLUS she didn’t even bother to pay for it, even though it makes me feel less a gentleman, honestly, but out of all kindness I think she was just being normally nice, not to put that ‘weight’ on me for paying something that she wants to eat. And when I was about to buy my own Lekker, she’s startled and yelled –in a cute way, of course– “you don’t need to buy the same food, I bought it a lot for a reason, so we could share one and another food we’re about to buy!” aaaaand I can’t help but smile at that.
Finally we sat at one table in that place, and there she was buying some cendol and as she said before: it’s one portion for two! –Gosh, how sweet is that– and after that she ordered a zuppa soup as well, she was bragging about how good the soup was haha I can’t stop laughing when later that noon she’s being grumpy about why the soup didn’t taste as good as she knew. LOL I can die out of her cuteness OMG, help! While we’re enjoying the snack, we’ve talk about a lot of things, we’ve talked about our family background, our past love life and so on. So from that small talk I knew that she had a not so fine relationship with her past that leaves a big scar in her, which made her afraid of being hurt again. Besides that, I found out that she’s the youngest in her family, she grew up in a nice family who loves one another. And she’s the one and only daughter in the family, who happened to be the closest one to her Mum too. Now I can see why is she’s such a sweetheart, she’s a family’s lil’ sweet daughter!
The clock tells us it’s already lunch time! Then she asked me to go to her-so-called the best Padang restaurant there, I actually forgot what it called but it was like definitely the best one, since she said that one of her favorite food called gazeboo is served there. She told me that gazeboo is one of her favorite dish while eating it together with me in one plate. I repeat: ONE PLATE! How cute is that, right! She said she doesn’t wanna eat a lot that time, because she still wanted to visit her favorite snack tenant that day (wow what a belly). That time, while we finished our –cute– gazeboo-lunch, she express her astonishment of why would I eat in one plate with her without being disgusted, which I can only responds with a smile to that. What a cute lunch I had that day.
So not long after we had gazebo for our lunch, we still have the second stomach for dessert! HAHA. We bought that famous Jeju Ice Cream! And –again- we bought it 1 for the two of us. Well, this girl is really something! We casually eat our ice cream and lots of people stare at us in a cute-kind-of-stare that day. At the moment I thought we’re finished with our lunch & snack that afternoon, she then bought a pack of Serabi Solo, omg what a tummy that she has HAHAHA. Now we’re really done, so after we finished with our lunch and those snacks party, we’re back on the road, heading to Seblak Jeletet tenant in Pademangan, North Jakarta area.
So as you can see from the maps, we were about to go for a 20++ KMs road trip to fulfill her cravings for a (seriously) super-duper-mega hot snack called seblak. Seriously it’s so hot my mouth can’t even feel a thing while I ate that. On our way there, we talked and talked about lots of things, like how she sees world, how she’s doing in society, how she sees herself as a minority, and how would she react about her mom finding out that she will never marry the person that her mom wish to have as a son-in-law. And all of her stance about those things just left me in awe – I never met someone who is more idealistic yet still realist about her life than she is, PLUS she’s a firm believer (believer, not belieber alright you’re reading it wrong! lol) that kindness should be the only religion that everyone should hold on to. We talked about lots and lots of sensitive topics, which made me know her a bit deeper. Eversince that talk, I see that she’s someone who is light at heart and have a deep thought about life. Not everyone have that.
As we arrived FIRST (even the stall hasn’t opened yet) at her favorite seblak tenant, I’m a bit confused about how she’s so enthusiast about the food, and she ordered it 90 mins before the stall is open. I thought, “wow why rushing to order even before the stall is open, didn’t we have 90 mins left to order?” but I let that thoughts go as we walk and talk, this time it’s about our circle of friends. From that talk, again and again I know that she has such a small circle but it has a high quality of friendship that everyone would love to have. No wonder she’s such a lovely kind of girl. I actually forgot what did I ordered back then but it’s in a hot level 0.5, because oh yeah funny thing is I can’t eat spicy food – meanwhile she can eat like every spicy thing in the world. Yeah, she likes it a lot. Funny thing happened there, there’s a gay couple who give us a friendly stare, and then both of that gay couple and us shares a smile, like a wide friendly smile. Ah, why is everything so cute that day! Anyways, at this seblak tenant, she ate this chicken feet and she going all out for it! HAHA what a cutie!
After those spicy snack time, at about 4 pm, we went to Santa Traditional Market, guess what for? YES, to eat again! Hahahaha, but unfortunately Santa Market was closed that day – but she got me to see lots of vinyl store, which sell lots of classic & jazz tunes! I cooouldn’t be happier! But because the snack tenant were all closed, we decided to go to her favorite coffee shop: Coffee Life in Cilandak area. We spent a couple hours there talking ‘bout her partner type (HAHA), her expected first job, and surprisingly (again and again) she’s into art! Whoa, something that I will never be good at hahaha. Then later at night that day, she drop me off at my home, and she said something quite sweet which were: “Hey, do you realize that today is our first met? I didn’t even know how it feels like to meet you in person ‘till this morning, and yet we had all the good talk and seems like we knew each other for a long time. What a day!” and again I can only smile at that while replying, “I know. I had a really really good day, and great talk with you, thank you for your ride and for making my day!”
And so that was the end of our super cute date back in January, 2017. It was the happiest day ever happened to me since my 3 years of darkness. I didn’t even know that I would be that happy again being in a simple yet fulfilling first date with a girl I just met. Well, as we all know, life actually works in a funny & mysterious way, now who knows that girl who’s being all out while eating her chicken feet is now my girlfriend I never knew I needed. Who knows that girl who was chewing all of her food happily in span of our 12-hours-date is now the one that I can’t live without.
And then I looked up at the sun and I could see the way that gravity pulls on me and her – and I couldn’t be more thankful and grateful to the Universe for kindly crossing our path in such a perfect chapter and timing of our life.

Serendipity
Serendipity, one beautiful word which means “discovery of something fortunate; the accidental discovery of something pleasant. valuable or useful”, or some other say it’s “find something good without looking for it” or in my version, Serendipity means: A beautiful coincidence. The most beautiful one.
So through this page, I’d like to share my favorite Serendipity in my life. It might not be the best story of all the love stories in the world, but it’s the most favorite one, at least for me.
So I guess it’s enough for a brief intro for this page – Expect more.
