This blog is a mess, but it's my mess...PA born and bred, historian, writer, actress, seamstress, lover of found family, travel, tea, coffee, cats, books, kdramas, and OSTs.
HEARTBREAKING: piece of media got incredibly popular and a lot of annoying people started hyping it up and recommending it so you avoided it on principle and you finally checked it out and it's actually very good
the ending of well of ascension is so funny to me. everyone's all excited cuz vin's going to do the right thing! she's going to save the world! she's trusting and honoring elend's words and will give up the power rather than save his life! she's learned to love and trust fully! and then it very, very rapidly declines into "oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no. oh no."
I’ve had this idea since a couple of years ago when the live action Mulan came out, and I plan on moving forward with it this year (I have several ideas).
Also because JC is the biggest mama’s boy. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Oh my gosh y’all it was hyperbole but I stand by Dalinar being one of the worst fathers in the Cosmere. You don’t get to abandon your children in your drunken grief and pain and be called a good father. You don’t get to live vicariously through your “one good useful son” while ignoring your neurodivergent son because he’s different and be called a good father. You don’t get to murder their mother in a blood frenzy and then be called a good father. Adolin raised himself and then he raised Renarin while trying to keep his dad alive and healthy and not drunk.
To me abandoning your kids because you can’t deal with your own issues is just as bad as sending one to marry a God-king or treating your son like he is absolutely worthless and then trying to take his kingdom from him.
I love Dalinar. I love his journey, I love his redemption arc, and I love that he is trying to make things better. But that doesn’t erase the fact that he is one of the worst fathers in the Cosmere and I will die on this hill.
