A Fleet Street, a due passi dal Trinity College, ecco il 'Bowe's". Un pub in autentico stile vittoriano con una bella facciata esterna che invita a varcare quella porta e gli interni classici in legno scuro. La parola d'ordine è "conversazione": nessun televisore, musica non da far saltare i timpani, clientela di tutte le tipologie pronta a scambiarsi opinioni, a ridere, a scherzare, ad affogare I propri dispiaceri in pinte e whiskey. "Rocking Chair" è uno dei pub su Waterloo Street, vicino alle storiche mura di Derry e a due passi dal Bogside. Si caratterizza per l'atmosfera vivace ed estremamente accogliente, per un'ottima cucina e per una buonissima Guinness. Da negozio di strumenti musicali fino a diventare uno dei pub storici di Dublino. La storia di 'McNeill's' non ha segreti, sembra seguire un percorso già scritto nel destino. Il pub di Capel Street è considerato uno dei locali più affermati della città per la musica tradizionale irlandese, presente quasi tutti i giorni della settimana. Facciata esterna molto affascinante, interni tradizionali ed estremamente accoglienti. 'McNeill's' è una tappa importante per chi vuole respirare un po' della vecchia Dublino, per chi vuole gustarsi qualche buona pinta e godersi violini, bodhran e flauti in pieno stile irish. 🇮🇪🍻 © Irish tales from Rome

The Wolfe Tones – 60 Years of Irish Song and Spirit 

Formed in Dublin in 1963, The Wolfe Tones have been the voice of Irish folk and rebel music for six decades.  Named after the Irish revolutionary Theobald Wolfe Tone, the band has become synonymous with songs that tell the story of Ireland's struggles and triumphs. 

From early hits like "The Foggy Dew" to anthems like "Let the People Sing" and "Celtic Symphony," their music has resonated with generations.  Their rendition of "Come Out Ye Black and Tans" even topped the iTunes charts in Ireland and the UK in 2020.  

As they embark on their farewell tour, including a final concert at Thomond Park Stadium in Limerick on July 13, 2025, The Wolfe Tones leave behind a legacy that has deeply influenced Irish culture and music.  

Let the people sing, indeed.

Uno dei tanti bellissimi murales che si possono ammirare nel di quartiere di Ardoyne, a nord di Belfast, c'è sicuramente quello a Ludlow Square, dedicato ai prigionieri politici repubblicani. Realizzato nel lontano 1997, presenta tutto ciò che ha accompagnato la resistenza irlandese negli ultimi quarant'anni. Maıréad Farrell nel carcere di Armagh, la blanket protest, le gabbie di Long Kesh, le marce a sostegno degli Hunger Strikes, vari manifesti contro margaret thatcher. Solo per citarne alcune. Al centro dell'opera, sotto la scritta 'Free the Pows', due braccia intrappolate dal filo spinato e la bellissima citazione tratta dalla canzone di Bob Dylan 'Blowin' In The Wind'.

Twinbrook, West Belfast, la statua di Bobby Sands.

Scolpita dall'artista Packy Adams e commissionata dal Bobby Sands Committee, la statua sorge nel quartiere in cui i Sands si trasferirono, dopo essere stati cacciati per due volte da North Belfast dai lealisti.

Da novembre 2023 un bellissimo murale spicca dalle mura medievali di Derry. È quello che raffigura 'The Undertones', la storica band punk irlandese attiva principalmente tra la seconda metà degli anni '70 e il decennio successivo. L'opera, realizzata da Karl Porter di UV Arts in occasione del 45° anniversario del loro singolo "Teenage Kicks", celebra i cinque membri fondatori della band riprendendo la copertina dell'omonimo album di debutto del gruppo del 1979.
