Like they are all evil monsters, none of them are good, but it is so Telling that she's like yeah all the "weird" externals can go but not the "normal" and rich ones. Okay Gwen.
So if Gwen is firing all "unstable externals", then she is firing basically everyone except an old german man and british aristocrat?
INTERESTING CHOICE GWENDOLYN. Firing working class people like mr Bonzo and artists like Ink5oul. God forbid poor people will want to have a little bit of fun too.

Every week I love watching Gwen absolutely fail at her job. She wanted power without realising the responsibilities that came with it, and now she's left floundering because the same pride that made her scheme to oust Lena now won't let her ask anyone for help. She's stuck making petty power plays, flexing what little (rapidly dwindling) influence she has, and ultimately making shit exponentially worse for everyone else.
#the magnus protocol#i love my girlfailure. hell yeah queen tell the monsters that they aren't allowed to do monster things anymore#I'm sure that will work out perfectly fine for everyone and won't lead to problems#tmagp spoilers#tmagp

Goddamn, I love Alice more everyday. When given the choice to hurt her friends or die she chooses death without hesitation. Even when she has seen exactly what kind of death it would be.
I'm so used to horror characters making the choice to save themselves over others, that I actually expected her to give in. I thought it would be too disappointing for Alice to die here. The fact that she accepted her fate so quickly caught me off guard. (Though I'm sure it's exactly what Heinrich expected of her.)
I thought so before, but this makes it even more obvious (even more so than the names) that Alice is a foil to Celia. Celia who will sacrifice anyone she needs to, even the man who falls in love with her, in order to save herself. She encouraged him to go to dangerous places and investigate monsters with her, all in the name of her own safety.
I appreciate that they gave Alice this wonderful moment of characterization, and still kept her around. It makes whatever happens next even more tragic.

The real horror of this episode is the corporate project/board meeting
#the fact that they still had the meeting after finding out one of their members got murdered#and cannibalized by a body-stealing monster#is so darkly funny. they really said damn that sucks#anyway pull up a chair and tell us how we can make money off you#tmagp spoilers#the magnus protocol

Wanted to draw something dedicated to The Magnus Archives and The Magnus Protocol that would look cool as a wallpaper or printed on a t-shirt as a gift to my sister (that's mini Nikola at the bottom btw)

I hope y'all have been paying attention to your proper nouns because they're all making a comeback this episode.
This is actually, by my reckoning, the fourth time we've encountered Elric Capital and its projects.
In episode 35: Terms and Conditions, Terrance Menke "the Bonzo Butcher" is about to be remanded to the Elric Rehabilitation Initiative.
In the immediate next episode, Elric Capital Ltd. is mentioned as a lead financial backer for the Booth startup - that video conference box that trapped its product reviewer. Consequently, this means that amongst the product's "concerns and delays" is that someone's ear got ripped off. The names of the project leads, [Lila] Bailey and [Chris] Chavez, show up in both places; I have to wonder if it was one of theirs.
Though episode 13: Futures doesn't mention Elric Capital explicitly, the board discusses that episode's app, Zorrotrade, as a previous investment. It seems they were successful in scrubbing their name from the venture.
Finally, you may recall that all the way back in episode 1, we hear the story of a grieving Harriet Winstead, who had paid some sketchy service to hear her departed Arthur again and was met with "some of him". If that wasn't enough of a giveaway, "Adam" says that Arthur Winstead was one of the names he had taken.
In the interest of being thorough, I dug for the other names Adam gave, as well as all of the mentioned board members, anywhere I could. The closest to any matches I could make were that the surname Mitchell (one of the council members) appears twice in the Magnus Institute test subject spreadsheet from the ARG, as does the surname Brown (one of Adam's identities), but that's pretty tenuous. Sadly, I couldn't find traces of Dr. Augustine in any other episode; I'd thought they might be one of the doctors or alchemists we've seen elsewhere.

“Adam”: No no no don’t freak out I only took the Parts of Dr Augustine that I needed to get in here
Mr Malachi: …Is he still alive then??
“Adam”: No, but like. Does it really matter, you guys didn’t have that much business with him anyway
One of the REDACTED suits in charge: Fair point. We should hear him out.

the thing I love most about tmagp is that all the characters are in wildly different genres. celia is in a haunting portrayal of the lasting impact grief and guilt have on a person. sam is in a slasher. gwen is in a cutthroat workplace drama. alice is having a buddy cop adventure.

everyone point and laugh at celia who thought she would be rewarded by the narrative but forgot that the narrative is about how no matter what the system is always against you and turning on your fellow humans will always result in negative results
