Watching #kmjs interview with Mayor Vico Sotto and one of the things I would like to point out is how he reacts to positive comments. For every positive feedback, he did not grab all the credit. He always emphasized, "My team", "Our LGU" and he heavily used "We" instead of "I". This guy is a leader. Impressive indeed.

Ted Bundy had been one of the serial killers in my top lists along with the Zodiac, Dahmer, Gacy and Ed Gein. Unlike most serial killers, Ted grew up in a good environment. He was not abused nor did he showed any signs of aggression at a young age (i.e. killing small animals) which makes him all the more terrifying. My heart goes out to all his victims, both identified and unidentified. Ted Bundy is enigmatic and charming. He is well educated and very articulate. I do understand why people are so drawn to the movie and are quite charmed by Ted Bundy. He was, or at least a part of his persona, portrays most women's ideal man. Even when he was incarcerated, a lot of people were drawn to him either out of curiosity to his bizzare pattern as he did not fit a serial killer profile or simply because of his charisma. Ted Bundy is an epitome that sometimes nature prevails regardless of nurture.

Bird Box had been one of my top 5 books of 2017 and I was so glad when Netflix decided to make it a film. The book was gripping and I liked a lot of characters because Josh Malerman took time to develop each personality. The movie is a disappointment as I had fell in love with the book first. It's hard to compress a book in a 2 hour film. However, if you haven't read the book, do watch it. Or watch the film and do read the book. See my book review here : http://bit.ly/2u0DKwN

Out of nowhere i suddenly remembered something from my childhood. Ako gnbasul kag gnpatup.an because there was a missing 500 bill sa kaha. I swore I gave the right change pero bakol gyapon ya eh. I was 9 or 10 years old. What I clearly remembered about that event though is not the pain of every hit. I remembered the faces and the voices - the angry, the confused, the begging and the pleading. It was the look on my grandparent's face that I'll always carry with me. Lola Me and Lolo Que silently telling my dad to lie and say that he took the bill. But my dad was confused and he blurted out he didn't took the cash. I can't remember clearly what happened after. I just remembered the look on my grandparent's face. It was an expression of pity and pain and I know they would've protected me but their bodies are frail. This is the funny thing about memories, because sometimes they get distorted or forgotten. What I'll remember then is the compassion in my grandparent's faces. RIP lolo and lola. Thank you.

I wanted to buy bok choy but I wasn't sure if there'll be any vendors selling it in Central Market. So I went to my suki to see what bok choy alternatives I could have and I was surprised because he had some bok choy. This is the first time I've seen his stall sell bok choy and I've been buying from him for years. I was ecstatic as I handpicked a bunch and was even surprised to see it only costs a mere 50 pesos for that quantity. My suki said I can get another one as a "paaman" so I chose the smallest one and he laughed and urged me to choose a bigger one. I, for one, never asked my suki for a discount ever since because I know how hard it might've been for vendors like him especially that there are establishments and big companies who are competing in the market. With my 50 pesos of bok choy, I headed inside the Central Market to go to another suki who sells native bags. I had bought one from her last year and it had survived my everyday use and abuse. If you know me well, you'd know I carry an arsenal in my bag. The things I stuff my bag weighs almost a kilogram on average and I find designer brands not that durable for my everyday use because my bag gets rained on or squished during my daily transport. However the native bag survived me for a year and it's still functional with a bit of tiny tears here and there. So I decided I will buy another native bag. My suki sells the bag for 350 but she gave it to me for only 320. Again, I didn't even asked for a discount. Her bags are really good and it can compete with SM's overly priced Kultura bags. This is why I prefer buying from vendors instead of the supermarket and the malls because they remember you and in a way, you start to become a small community. They sell to live, it is their way of life. I encourage everyone to buy directly from these vendors. Avoid asking for discounts too. Think about this, we find it easy to pay thousands for a designer bag but we still ask for discounts in buying a bag which costs 90% less. Support local, that's one small way we can all pull each other up.
