who: victoria okoro & open ( @bfmstarters ) where: starlight
As she made her way into the familiar Starlight, she spotted the person sitting at the table she'd been headed for and froze in her tracks. Sure, it would make more sense to simply accept a different table, but something in her had her walking over to the occupied table anyway. "Excuse me," she started, having just reached the booth in the corner. "Sorry to bother you. I know this may sound insane, but is there any way I could join you at this table?" Victoria knew it'd be a long-shot, but she was trying to stay hopeful. "I'm about to start previews for my musical, and right before I open a show, I always come sit at this table and have the same exact meal. I know it's incredibly superstitious, but it's tradition." Maybe they'd either take pity on her and let her join, or find her crazy enough to get up and leave the table behind. Either way worked for her. "I'd happily pay for your meal," she added. Surely that'd help sway things in her favor.

Something Adriana had always loved was fresh flowers. Once she'd gotten her own place, and was able to support herself, she had made it a habit to always have a few various flowers around. A small vase here. An assortment there. It brightened things up and was something that could easily put a smile on her face. It was why she found herself at the local florist relatively often. The one downside to wanting them around frequently was the fact that they didn't last forever.
She'd just about walked up to Blushing Blooms when she collided with someone in front of her. A small, "oh," fell from her lips as she took a bit of a step back. When she finally snapped back to reality, she took a moment to look up at the person that had bumped into her. "It's alright," she assured him, waving it off. "I'm fine. A little embarrassed, but still standing." Even though she was certain she hadn't been the one to knock into him, she still thought she should've moved out of the way before they'd gotten to this point. Oh well. "Are you okay?"
with: adriana silva ( @theprophccy ) where: outside blush blooms, park slope
was it weird to think about buying flowers for your to-be-ex-wife for valentine's day? it had been a week since beau had spoken to joanna about initiating the divorce process. he'd had the papers drafted, keeping things simple to make it as quick and easy as possible. the sticking point could potentially be the custody agreement, but beau wasn't going to settle for less than 50%, none of this every-other weekend crap.
he let out a sigh. he'd done his best to be a good husband, and he'd never forgotten valentine's, or their anniversary, or her birthday. even if she was busy. he had loved joanna... and he always wanted to show jake the best example of a husband.
he took a side step without looking and knocked into someone. "oh god, shit, i'm so sorry." he was quick to apologise, putting his hands up. "are you okay?"

"You definitely don't have to ask me twice," Victoria commented with a chuckle. She stood up from the stool she'd been on, sitting in the corner by herself, so that she could grab the free chair at the other's table. "Why did you order so much if you didn't want it all?" Not that she judged the woman for having it, but she wasn't used to people getting more than they could realistically consume.
open stater for @bfmstarters where: aroma delights.
"I cannot eat all this food," Ayla let out a light chuckle as she glanced down at the array of pastries she'd acquired, all for an instagram review. Now she was a parent she'd ended up taking on more reviews and vlog type content, so here she was. "Please, help me. I'll even buy you a coffee to wash it down with."

"He's definitely the surprising type," she agreed. "So I maybe shouldn't be surprised when it turns out that he had things in the works this whole time." No matter what they did for the holiday, she knew she'd be happy. Going above and beyond was never expected for her. "Wow, that's a huge step! A really exciting one though." Adriana was happy for her friend and this new stage in his relationship. "I've always felt that Valentine's Day was simply a way to remind anyone in your life that you cared for them! Smaller, more intimate things are always a great choice." She loved hearing about everyone else's happiness. "Do you think that someday is someday sooner rather than later? Or is a ring way, way in the future?" It hadn't been something she'd thought about too much for herself until recently.
𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦, taking in the taste. cold treats really hit the spot, especially when catching up with friends. better than coffee in his opinion. " hmm, maybe he's planning something for you. who knows? i've been rather quiet about it myself. but i'm doing a little thing for my boyfriend. it's rather different for me too, and well, i feel like i want to take the next step with luca. i'm thinking of asking him to move in with me. " nervous was the feeling he had, but excitement was right there with it. " i'm not a huge valentine's day guy anyway, but something intimate at my apartment, and ending it with giving him a box with a key. even though someday that could turn into a ring. " he's shocked he said that out loud, but it was true.

While she'd never been the type to socialize while waiting in lines, she knew she couldn't ignore the woman in front of her. Besides, she knew she needed to start forcing herself out of her comfort zone. Maybe this would end up being a nice, friendly conversation. "Strawberry is always a good choice," she agreed, offering the other woman a smile. "They have this new raspberry sorbet that I've been slightly obsessed with lately. I don't know if it's a temporary flavor, or if they'll end up keeping it, so I've been getting it as often as I can." Victoria looked up at the giant menu behind the counter before back over to the person in front of her. "You know what would be really good? A fruity combination."
Starter for: Madelena & Open @bfmstarters Location: Sweet Scoops
"I don't know about you, but I think I am going to get the strawberry. I am a sucker for the fruit flavors that have actual frozen chunks of fruit in them. I know they also have a cherry one with chunks of cherry in them too but I think today is going to be strawberry. Do you know what you're going to get?" Madelena asked the person behind her as she held her bag and patiently awaited their response since they were waiting in line anyways.

Truthfully, even if something had happened to her phone, Adriana probably wouldn't have gotten mad at the other woman. She knew it had been an accident. Something that easily could've happened to her. "Hey, no one got hurt and nothing's broken. As far as bumping into someone goes, this was probably best case scenario," she told her with a playful tone. When Maddie started to cry, she couldn't help the way her own face fell. The last thing she wanted was for someone to be so upset. While she didn't quite understand the attachment, she still felt for the girl. "I'm sorry you're losing somewhere you loved so much!" With people still walking around them, she did her best to guide the blonde over to the side so that they didn't get knocked into again. "Are you friendly with the owners?"
Maddie watched as the other picked up their phone to check it was still working - likely the most expensive item that dropped to the ground. A huge sigh of relief escaped her when the screen lit up and there were no cracks running through its glass. "Thank god,". There was no way she could afford to replace someone else's phone. "Yea, yea, I'm fine, thanks," Maddie mumbled . Again, I'm sorry. Just a lot on my mind and I wasn't looking where I was going,". A frown grew on the blonde's lips when she remembered what she was thinking about, an absolute devastated sob as she explained the reason for her scattered brain. "...I just...I just found out that my favorite bagel place Doughy Delights is shutting down,".

Victoria's head immediately turned in the direction of the voice. While she didn't know the other woman that well, she was always willing to help someone out in what could easily turn into a shopping emergency. "It's not terrible," she started, head tilting just slightly to the side as she took a few steps closer. "The shoulders are giving box, but I think if you bring them down slightly... And then cinch the waist, it'd look perfect on you."
for: @bfmstarters where: Second Chance
"Alright, so brutal honesty." Sky said, turning in the dress she'd picked up from the rack, the thrift store was great for finding random pieces, this one was a beautiful turquoise dress, but it did make her look a little frumpy, however that was something that could always be altered. "I feel like a box, but imagine it taken in a bit."

Adriana waved her off as politely as she could. "I'm good," she told her. "Thanks though." Even though she felt like this woman was someone she could trust in the moment, she also knew she had to be careful sometimes. The last thing she needed was someone going online, figuring out who she was, and then sharing a dramatic story about how she was so rude for something as simple as turning down a piece of gum. "Jake's right. The ones in California aren't as good." Adriana finally forced herself to stand back up so she could continue the conversation normally. "If you aren't getting your bagels from New York or New Jersey, they're wrong. It's something about the water." As someone who grew up in Jersey, she had always felt like certain foods weren't as good once you left the area. "Same thing with Chinese food and pizza. You can find them everywhere, but it's never truly the same."

"careful," jo said, strongly considering whether or not it would be rude to light a cigarette just then. she opted not to, more for bagel's sake than adriana's. she was always careful to never smoke inside and tried not to in crowds because while she could choose to take a puff, other people (or animals) didn't have to be subjected to her bad habit. ultimately, she settled for the pack of gum tucked inside her pocket instead, popping a piece and offering the pack to adriana before replacing it. "nah. his name before was after some character in a popular tv show. jake picked bagel." it took a moment for her to realize adri wouldn't have a clue who jake was, so she added. "my son. he's eleven and ever since we moved out here he begs to get one for breakfast every morning. says the ones out in california weren't as good." and, really? he was right.

[ greta onieogou, female, she/her ] — spotted in the streets of brooklyn, it’s VICTORIA OKORO. they have lived in the city for EIGHT YEARS, working as a BROADWAY ACTRESS. the 30 year old will probably be seen around BUSHWICK a lot, seeing as that’s where they live. people say they can be a bit INFLEXIBLE and SELF-DESTRUCTIVE, but friends know them to be WARM and SOCIABLE. you know for sure you’ve found them when you’ve come across HIGHLIGHTED PASSAGES, BEING A SHELL OF WHO YOU REALLY ARE, & VOICE AS SWEET AS HONEY. welcome to brooklyn, it’s been waiting for you!
Basics:
Name: Victoria Olesya Okoro
Nickname(s): Tori, V, Tor, T
Birthday: July 6th
Age: 30
Sexuality: pansexual
Hometown: Morristown, New Jersey
Currently: Sophie Sheridan in Mamma Mia
Positives: creative, warm, resilient, extroverted, meticulous, sociable
Negatives: impatient, impulsive, obsessive, perfectionist, self-destructive
Biography: tw: depression towards the bottom!
To say her parents were serious people would be an understatement. As Tori grew up, they were always focused on making sure her and her siblings stayed focused on school and had plans for their future. Unfortunately for Tori, who wanted to focus all of her attention on theatre, that wasn’t a practical choice. “No one could find stability in show business.”
Despite her parents wishing she loved something else, Tori had her heart set on performing the very second she stepped on stage at summer camp when she was 8.
While she wanted to skip college to go directly to New York, her parents were adamant in the thought that she needed to go to school and study something "real" as a backup.
So off she went, studying business administration (with a double major in theatre arts.) Year after year, she found herself involved in any productions possible, figuring they were all experiences to use for her future career.
Everything seemed to be set for her five year plan… and then came Cameron. He didn't take himself seriously which kept her from making sure every single show was as perfect as it could be. Though, before she knew it, he had gotten under her skin and she had fallen head over heels. Suddenly, she had someone who balanced her out perfectly. They were a dream team. Expertly working off of each other on stage, harmonizing with ease.
She lived in her happiness bubble for the rest of her college career, and as graduation approached, she had the highest hopes of finally moving to Manhattan (preferably with her boyfriend by her side), and making that dream she worked so hard for come true.
And then it all came crashing to a halt when she looked down at the person she loved on one knee and wasn’t able to give him an answer. So, she’d eventually settled on no and found everything crashing down around her.
Not wanting to give up on what she’d worked so hard for, she moved to New York City three days after graduation and focused everything on her career.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t as easy as she’d hoped it would be and she found herself struggling with audition after audition without booking much. After almost a year of no’s, she ended up growing more closed off and depressed. She felt as if she’d worked her entire life for something, and fought her parents on countless times, to then end up with nothing to show for it. It felt like her dreams were crashing down around her.
She’d given herself an extra six months to test things out, and if she didn’t book anything, she’d fall back on the degree her parents had wanted her to get it. The safe choice. Thankfully, she was cast as a standby in Back to the Future and things slowly started to pick up from there.
Swing role here, ensemble there. And, now, it’s finally time for her to step into a principal role: Sophie in Mamma Mia! ….Alongside the man she’d turned down years ago and hasn’t really been able to get out of her mind since.
She’s terrified of somehow messing things up and having the bubble burst! So she tends to be a little bit too serious and too high-strung.
Connections:
Roommate(s)??? 1-2?? we can figure out how they met and how long they’ve been living together! but I figure she’s had roommates since moving to the city 8 years ago so!
Hookups/flings/etc?? she doesn’t really do anything super serious since she was so focused on making her career a reality, but I can definitely see her having a couple flings (maybe lasting a few months?) and/or hookups and anything casual!
ANY FRIENDS!!! like, for real. your girl needs some good people in her corner!
also possibly her siblings??? had her have 2!

"I would love one," she told the other girl as she looked over with a smile on her face. "Thank you." Adriana had a terrible habit of ordering the same drink, a cosmopolitan, every time she went out but moments like this reminded her that there were so many other choices out there. "Are espresso martinis your go-to or did you feel like switching it up today?"
for: @bfmstarters where: the loft
"Do you want an espresso martini?" Willa asked, sliding the drink to the person sat next to her at the bar. "The bartender gave me two by mistake."

"I'm gonna hold your hand while I tell you this," she started, though she wasn't taking the words literally. "Lamb is incredibly normal. You need to give me more details if you want me to believe this story is a wild one." There was no way the weirdest thing he'd ever tried was lamb. Either he was leaving something out or he was messing with her completely. "My grandma used to make this thing called lingua estufada which is basically tongue stew. I was incredibly against it as a kid just because I loved animals, and for whatever reason, eating their tongue was a line I refused to cross. Everyone finally broke me down when I got older though, and while it wasn't terrible, the texture was truly what nightmares are made of." Adriana tried not to write things off as quickly nowadays. If someone offered her something new, she'd try it at least once.
The sound of the timer going off on her phone had her turning her back to him again as she slid the baking dish out of the oven. "If this is the new worst thing you've ever eaten, I need you to put on the best performance of your life. Think Oscar nominee. Thank the Academy." She was joking, of course, or at least she hoped that that wouldn't actually be the case. After plating their dinner, she then moved over to his spot on the island, nudging his leg out of the way just slightly so that she could open the drawer beside him. Despite the quiet reminder in the back of her head that they were still on the newer side, she wasn't nervous or concerned as she simply lived her life around him. "I know you've been enjoying been enjoying your sit there and look cute position, but I need help now. Can you carry this to a table? Either the dining room or the living room, it doesn't really matter to me."
real talk? austin couldn't cook for shit. he'd never really had to. growing up, his mom had always done the majority of the cooking and while he and occasionally his siblings had helped chopped veggies or peel potatoes, she usually shooed them out of the kitchen when it was time for the real cooking to start. in college, he'd lived mostly off of takeout or cafeteria food and ever since he'd been in the league, the team had taken care of two meals a day with a nutritionist and personal chef. was he spoiled? definitely. did he cheat? all the time. but he was good at following directions and he could make at least 3 basic meals on his own, so he and adri had done this a few times before with varying levels of success. this was definitely more complicated than his grilled cheese and progesso tomato soup or home made mac n cheese recipes, but he thought he kept up pretty well.
he was now perched on top of her center island taste testing the wine he'd brought. he'd brought a couple of different bottles (red and white) because he hadn't known what kind would pair with whatever she'd decided to cook tonight. he swirled his glass before taking a swig, humming thoughtfully and kicking his socked feet against the cabinets as he considered the question. "we went to london for a game in '22. my qb dared me to eat lamb fries. which seemed weird from the jump, 'cause they call fries chips over there." he paused to take another drink and flashed her a smirk. "they weren't fries." they were, in fact, lamb testicles. they'd been alright, though. kind of chewy for austin's taste, but he'd had worse. "what about you?"

The sound of the man calling out to her was enough to make her fully freeze where she was. "Oh shit," was all she was able to get out in return at first. As she side-stepped the glass, she finally took a moment to turn and look at the person who had warned her in the first place. "Thank you for the heads up. Are you okay? Did something happen?" Adriana wasn't sure how long the glass had been there, or if it was part of something bigger going on.

Zak ascended the stairs, it had been a long damn day and finally getting to head home. He couldn't wait to see his fiance and baby girl, and to hear about her day. As he approached the top of the stairs he saw broken glass, even worse he saw someone approaching.
"Wait! Stop! Please! There's glass! I don't want you to cut yourself!"

Adriana loved finding little ways to meet up with friends. Whether they were people she'd had in her life for years or ones she was hoping to build up a stronger friendship with. It was why she found herself grabbing ice cream with Winter. "You know what, I'm actually not sure," she started. "I mean, I actually have a boyfriend this time around, but he hasn't mentioned anything specific just yet." Adriana paused just a second for a spoonful of her cookies and cream, content in the moment. "Sounds like you have someone special to do things with this year? Did you make any big plans or have you left it all up to them?"

" so, valentine's day is around the corner. you doing something special? got a date? " he asked, as he took his first bite. " i swear, every year, i try to avoid it, but maybe this year i won't hate it too much. " of course, things were different for him this year around, seeing someone and all.

Now that both the dog, and owner, seemed friendly, Adri had no problem putting some more of her attention on the door. She'd thought about adopting one of her own, but she knew she'd be on the road soon and she didn't think that'd be fair. "Don't listen to the vet," she pretended to whisper to the dog. "You're perfect even if you're a little chunky." With the confirmation that she could share her snacks, she grabbed a blueberry to offer to Bagel. "Adriana," she introduced, looking back up at Jo now. "Did you adopt him with the name or did someone else name him? I think Bagel's kinda cute. It fits a food loving dog." Honestly, she'd love anyone or anything named after a type of bread. As much as it backfired on her sometimes, she was a sucker for a carb.

despite jo's whispered command of heel, bagel simply flopped onto the pavement and rolled over to show adriana his belly, so she gave up for now, sliding the hand not holding onto the dog's leash into her jacket pocket and sighing. it was brisk enough outside that she could she her breath. "he's a goldfish guy, but the vet says he needs to go on a diet, so give him the berries." she gave the dog a look as if to say this is your fault and then glanced back at the other woman. "i'm jo. this rude guy is bagel. no i didn't name him."

She should've seen the other girl coming. Should've moved out of the way before they'd had a chance to bump into each other. But before she knew it, they were surrounded by the sound of things hitting the ground. While she wasn't sure whose stuff it was, she quickly bent down so she could help gather everything up. "No, no, it's okay," she insisted. "It's partially my fault too. I was way too caught up in my head." At the question of breaking something, her gaze turned in the direction of her cellphone which was luckily screen side up. "I think it's fine." To confirm her theory, she quickly grabbed the device and double checked the screen as she watched it unlock. "We're good," she told the person in front of her, offering a comforting smile now. "Are you okay?"
open starter @bfmstarters "Oh - figgityfuck," Maddie swore under her breath as she winced at the loud clang! of items falling to the ground, all thanks to her signature clumsiness. And if that wasn't enough, there was a shadow of a person looming over her, witnessing it all. "Sorry! I am sooooo sorry," the blonde dropped hastily to the ground, scavenging for the belongings (including her orange that rolled away). "I wasn't looking where I was going and - shit, is this yours? I didn't break it, did I?".
