Data / Storytelling & Book Workshop — Bangkok Art Book Fair In July 24th-28th 2017, we have initiated a workshop “Data / Storytelling & Book Workshop” that aimed to involve participation of Arts and Design students in the Bangkok Art Book Fair by promoting the art publication through the perspective of the new generation. We have also organised workshops and talks to educate the participants about the publishing process from the beginning to the end. The process covered both content creation, design, binding, printing techniques and production and presented by experts in related fields. Many thanks to the guest speakers again for very nice presentations.
In the workshop, we acted as consultants for the participants. We provided them the guidances for data collecting and making the contents more solid and advised for design executions. By these means and combined with the big efforts from the participants, we have created many super cool outcomes.
During Bangkok Art Book Fair 2017, art books from the workshop were exhibited and all of them received the great feedbacks from audiences. Congratulation!
Lastly, thank you so much to all sponsors and supporters for your kind supports to make this idea into reality. We greatly appreciate it and hope to see you again next year :)

The “isms” of art (Kunst ism) — Starting point to Modernism Author — Hans Arp and El Lissitzky Year — 1924 Russian constructivist Lissitzky and Dadaist Arp designed the most influential books of its time. With the skillful use of white space typography and grid systems, this book was an early expression of modernist aesthetics. The text runs in three parallel columns separated by thick dividers, very much in a constructivist style. Each column is in a different language: German,  French and English.

Alternative Information of Swiss Style Born — Switzerland Year — 1940s–50s Noteable Associated Designer — Max Bill Armin Hofmann Richard Paul Lohse Josef Müller-Brockmann Emil Ruder Reference — smashingmagazine.com printmag.com guity-novin.blogspot.cz After the second world war the Swiss Grid Style, also known as the International Typographic Style was developed by Swiss designers, such as Armin Hofmann, Josef Müller Brockmann and Max Bill who began to experiment with typography and photo-montage. It does not simply describe a style of graphic design made in Switzerland. It became famous through the art of very talented Swiss graphic designers, but it emerged in Russia, Germany and Netherlands in the 1920’s. It became an ‘international’ style after 1950’s and it was produced by artists all around the globe. The information below can present what Swiss Style is; — Emerging from the modernist and constructivist ideals, the Swiss Style can be defined as an authentic pursue for simplicity – the beauty in the underlines of a purpose, not beauty as a purpose in itself. — Swiss Style begins with a mathematical grid. These grids are considered to be the “most legible and harmonious means for structuring information.” Using a grid for design makes creating a hierarchy for the content much easier. — Those who taught Swiss Style argued that design should focus on the content and not decorative extras. By stripping away the embellishments, Swiss Style eliminates distractions for the viewer and allows the information-heavy design to be read and studied rather than merely seen and admired. — Design is a socially worthwhile and serious vocation. — Design should be grounded on universal artistic principles, and using a scientific approach should provide a well-defined solution to a problem. — The designer is a visual communicator and not an artist. The designer acts as an objective and reliable transmitter of important information between members of society. — The ideal of design is to achieve clarity and order.

Purpose — The project helps the member stimulate their community’s walkability, linking informational street signs for people with web-based campaign management and data collection to com-plement traditional approaches to wayfinding.
