For my "Journey to Catch Sharks"-series I visited the infamous Osaka Kaiyukan!! It is already the second appearance of this aquarium in my magazine😍And in the Member Contribution Corner I am introducing all the recommended foods you sent me which are effective against summer fatigue 😋♡ You submitted a lot of pictures of different meals, everything looked delicious! Thank you for your submissions!

By the way, the other day we made a quiet announcement on the FC site, we will introduce new special content for Botanical Land members!! It's called "Wakana's Talk Garden"! ! ! ! ! ･:*+.\(( °ω° ))/.:+That's right, I'm starting a podcast! 😄A new podcast will be posted once a month, the first episode is scheduled for September 10th. For future episodes I will let Botanical Land members decide on an overall theme and everyone can send in e-mails (I'm also thinking about small presents to those whose e-mails get picked up to be read during an episode). Be sure to join me 🤗And please look forward to the first broadcast! \(^o^)/

Also, as announced a few days ago, I will be participating in the Studio Ghibli tribute album "Singing Ghibli"! I can't tell you how happy I am…😭😭😭😭✨✨Produced by Satoshi Takebe, this album is set to be a grand spectacle in which many artists express "Ghibli" in their own unique way. I personally love Ghibli from the bottom of my heart for introducing me to so many fantastical world, from the very first film "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" up until the most recent release, The Boy and the Heron", these works have had a huge impact on my life so I am truly grateful to be involved in this particular music project. Lastly, before visiting "Sakuya Konohana Kan" and "Kaiyukan" the day after my Billboard Live in Osaka, I actually went to a restaurant, so here are some pictures of that♡ It was an udon restaurant called "Fuufuya"! Since it was a very hot day, I had cold udon with grated yam and mushrooms😍 It was delicious♪

Don't get me wrong, Wakana's voice is beautiful now. It just makes me feel nostalgic to hear her voice in a tone from her old style.

Sono Saki He Review

To commemorate finally having the finances to buy this album(even if it's just one type), I will do a review(with 0 musical knowledge).

Butterfly Dream. 8/10 At first I wasn't sold. But after a few listens it grew on me. I like the nice happy sound and it has a fantasy theme. I'm a sucker for fantasy themes.

Napa Rui. 10/10 I like the Celtic vibe. This is my fave in this album. I hope I get to watch this live one day.

Shirushi. 9/10 Nice and calm ballad. I can see myself listening to this when I want to chill. I like how Wakana's voice is so gentle here.

Kibo 8/10 I like this, the melody is good. But I'm still unsure whether I like how the high notes were done. But overall it's a great song. It's one of my favs in this album.

kara. 9/10 I never knew that this song would fit a game MV. But even without a tie-in, I still like to listen to it. I just have a little issue with a few parts that need more force and power. Also, I wonder if it's a conscious decision to do the last "SHO-wo" that way.

Sono Saki he - interlude 8/10 nice instrumental break.

Kemono. 7/10 I wasn't sold at first. I put off listening to it because I was so turned off by the start. There is a feeling of disharmony with how Wakana sang at the start and the instrumental. But after listening to it fully, I eventually liked it. The Vocaloid style was new and interesting.

Asu wo Yume Mite Utau 10/10 I just love ballads. Wakana's voice is so nice here.

Flag 10/10 I love it at first listen. I love the fantasy feel and the emotions in the delivery. Also, I love the contrast between the gentle parts and the powerful parts. I hope Wakana would have more tie-ins with games. I think this was the first time I heard her sing in such a strong and fast way in her entire solo career. I want more songs like this.

sono saki he 7/10 Nice song but compared to the rest, this was underwhelming.

Ato Hitotsu 8/10 Nice ballad. But nothing stands out for me.

Overall. A solid album. I like most if not all of the songs and I love that there are more songs with a fantasy feel. I hope Wakana would go more in that direction. Wakana is suited for fantasy-themed songs. Her voice has this ethereal feel, add a nice fantasy image and it would be perfect.

That said, I can see that Wakana is still figuring out where she wants to go with her singing. She still has a few things to improve on. Like to develop a stronger voice for a few parts. There are times when I wish she used a fuller voice in a part of a song. But compared to the start of her solo career she has improved a lot. I hope she continues to work with a vocal coach.

I don't know the status of Wakana's career if she's producing good return on investment. But I am glad that her music and stuff are still of good quality and that she's still getting wonderful songs and opportunities. I hope she gets more tie-ins with games. The game industry is a good industry, it's still growing and has a wide range of audiences. I wish all the best for Wakana's career.

I'm still here...

I'm still here, waiting for Spacecraft to figure things out to get Kalafina a reunion concert. Even if Yuki Kajiura is not ready to produce for Kalafina, the agency can still approach Keiko and Hikaru.

A concert is enough for me... Kalafina has so many beautiful songs. It'd be a waste if no one would sing them live.

Random comment: I'm glad Wakana is venturing to making songs for games. That industry is growing and has a wide range of audience. Also, because its fantasy theme where Wakana's voice is well suited.

Wakana 「Kara」 Recording Documentary Short-Film

Great news! Wakana's song "殻/Kara" from her 3rd studio album "Sono Saki e" has been appointed as 4th anniversary tie-up for the mobile game 『Ikemen Genjiden』. The game is part of the popular "Ikemen Series", a romance game for women with a total of 40 million members worldwide. A special recording documentary has been uploaded to Wakana's Official YouTube Channel so be sure to check it out! Wakana 3rd Album “Sono Saki he” Tracklist Revealed & Billboard Lives Announced

Following a number of announcements back in mid-March, we now have a new batch of exciting news. As teased yesterday by Wakana, we finally get all the tracklist details. To accompany these news, a short snippet of 「明日を夢見て歌う/Asu wo Yume Mite Utau」from last year’s「Wakana Classics 2022 ～Christmas Special～」 was posted to YouTube. In addition, there will be two Billboard Lives held in July to celebrate the release of the album.

Title: 明日を夢見て歌う/Asu wo Yume Mite Utau Lyrics：Wakana Composition&Arrangement：Satoshi Takebe Track 8 of the album and track 10 of the bonus DVD. The full version of this live performance will be included as bonus feature on Type A of Wakana’s 3rd album “Sono Saki he”. Thoughts: Wow, my memory officially sucks. I had zero recollection of the song. I remember writing in my live report that the song wasn’t very memorable and I still stand by that statement (there’s too little buildup towards the chorus imo) but it’s more pleasant than what I recall (especially the melody in the beginning and Wakana’s singing overall). I know I compared it to Takebe’s other song “Kimi Dake no Stage” in terms of my feelings for it but they do not really sound anything alike and I suspect that this one will grow on me once I get to hear the whole song a few times (especially this acoustic live version which has such a lovely arrangement).

Thoughts: The track titles have got me very intrigued. “Rapa Nui” sounds like it could be the song that’s completely different from anything Wakana has done before (as she hinted towards in one of her Instagram posts). Or maybe KEMONO, although I assume that’s gonna be a pretty standard ballad seeing as it features a pianist. Wish there were more lyrics by Wakana but I take whatever I can get. Interesting choice to include an interlude. The title track must be really good to deserve its own interlude/instrumental. Would have preferred a new song of course but oh well, this might turn out to be super lovely. Happy to finally see Ato Hitotsu on an official release, it was long overdue.

But now with those overseas tickets available for YKL Vol#18, it would almost be a shame to not use that opportunity.

Live Corner

1. Yureru Haru: Unfortunately quite shaky. Not my favourite performance of the song. I feel like she is always a bit nervous in the beginning of events like this. Shin’s piano arrangement is beautiful though XD MC: She is talking about her album. Seems like she is still in the recording stage and also writing lyrics. 2. Flag: Still a bit shaky but definitely better. At the end she got quite fierce, loved it. Really enjoying those piano versions a lot. Shin has done a great job arranging them. MC: Yuuka joins Wakana for the live section after all. But apparently she is singing by herself…Interesting. Meh…I hope we’ll get a collab too. I am not a fan of her as a solo artist. 3. Inside Your Heart: A FJ Yuuka song by Yuki Kajiura. Don’t think I’ve ever heard it before. Very YK-esque. Okay I guess but I just can’t bring myself to like her voice 4. Colours of the Wind (Pocahontas): Ohhh, I LOVE the song. And Yuuka’s version is actually really good. Her voice is too cutesy for a proper ooomph factor but it kinda works. *sobs* Wish Wakana had joined her for this. MC: Aww, Wakana was brought to tears by Yuuka’s performance. And yes, we are finally getting a collab. 5. Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta nara (Ghibli): Not my preferred Ghibli choice but it certainly works for Yuuka’s voice. Wakana is trying to make her voice match Yuuka’s cutesy singing style. Doesn’t quite work in my opinion T_T But towards the end their harmonising got better.

Talk Corner

Wakana sings “Happy Birthday” for Yuuka and staff members bring out a fancy cake. And a present by Wakana from beauty brand “Officine Universelle Buly”. Cute how Wakana tries to read the French birthday greeting. XD It’s a hand creme, a cute lid and a gorgeous comb with Yuuka’s name engraved on it. Wakana has a white one for herself. Apparently it was recommended by Aimer who has the same comb as well. They reflect about their early days together from 20 years ago. Some lovely anecdotes about fancy parasols and green pea soup. Wakana’s current favourite food is kimchi, nori and cheese. She also loves nuts and prosciutto. Now Wakana does some Zelda fangirling. She has recently been into the game. Wakana outs herself as heavy drinker XD. No, just kidding. She talks a lot about all her favourite liqueurs. They are thinking about having some fancy wine for their next event. Wakana wants a camera for vlogging. Or at least a gimbal. Yes please! I love Hikaru’s vlogs, I am sure Wakana would make interesting vlogs too.

Sono Saki he on “GO!サイン” Day！〜3rd Album Release on May 31st〜

Everyone! As announced last week, the release date for my 3rd album “Sono Saki he” has finally been decided! \(^o^)/ May 31st! It’s May 31st! Let’s try to remember the date as “GO!SA-IN” day! ! 5-3-1! GO! SA! IN!

I briefly talked about my feelings regarding this album in short comment section  which was included in all the social media announcements. First and foremost I wanted this album to feel like we are “heading toward the future together”. As long as we are alive, we are always moving forward. No matter how sad or painful things are, time won’t stop or wait for us, we can’t stand still. If there are people who feel loneliness in such a time, I want them to remember that they are not alone. I want to make the kind of music that always stays by your side. Right now, I’m wokring on this album with the help of many people, including Satoshi Takebe. In order for you to see a new Wakana, we will continue to carefully work on the final details of the album, so please be patient a little while longer!😊✨I want to share my music and feelings with everyone as soon as possible! I can’t wait for that day😍
