I love how people are talking about how great it is to see Brennan and Aabria taking turns DMāing for each other. My favorite thing is in the midst of all of this is them being besties in Battle for Beyond.
Laerryn Coramar-Seelie, the Heart of Avalir, the worldās doom and the worldās salvation. I loved her the moment she was introduced and loved her all the more with each moment in the story.
Iām actually still not over how good Calamity was. It sort of rearranged what I thought was possible within the medium of streamed ttrpg games or ttrpg in general. The narrative layers, the outstanding improv, the depth of emotions developed in this (actually comparatively short) 4-episode storyā¦ Itās a very specific kind of experimental storytelling in that it actually doesnāt feel experimental at all, but rather feels like a return to our most basic storytelling instincts. It is spoken and heard and felt and experienced in the moment rather than written down, overtly performed or produced for the purpose of preservation. The purpose was to connect. Itās the same with any kind of ttrpg (at least the narrative, streamed kind), but the way the cast of Calamity consciously prioritized the action of collaborative storytelling over collaborative gameplay still feels like a distinct breakthrough within this format.Ā
Can you share more funny moments from your DnD campaign please
Iāll do you one better.
For context: This happened during our Curse of Strahd game, which is now leaning into Homebrew territory because my players refuse to go to Ravenloft.Ā
Not pictured: The unicorn, immediately after taking falling damage, also got electrocuted into oblivion because one of the players is cursed, courtesy of the Amber Temple.Ā
Needless to say, I was thrilled concerned about how much I packed into the dungeon crawl to wear them down, only to realize they were fully capable of doing it themselves.Ā
