just wanted to pop in and say how appreciative i am for this fandom. it sucks to be so small, but it also means we don't have as much room for problems.
as somebody who has been apart of a LOT of toxic fandoms, it's nice to be here, where everyone is pretty much just too happy to not be the only one to fight too much.

This is roughly how I feel Sali would tell Han about Daniel’s death.
Mercenary: We regret to inform you that your husband will no longer be returning home. Is there anyone else you would like us to inform?
Sali: No, I can do it myself.
*Later*
9 year-old Han: Mam look I drew a family photo!
Sali: Cross your Da’ out.

Just say, there is nothing that Han cannot do.
He knows Arithmetic.
He is Ambidextrous.
He understood Ardenine without having to learn it and knows various other languages.
He is a smooth talker and can talk his way out of anything and talk other people into things.
He learns at a very fast rate.
He was able to change the way he spoke for formal situations even though the way he speaks is far from formal.
He is highly gifted with magic (one of the most powerful Wizards to have ever lived).
He is the oldest streetlord of the Raggers and basically any other gang.
He won the heart of the Queen and married her.
He undid the Neaming.
He got the clans and wizards to work together.
He holds The Armory of the Gifted Kings.
He defeated the Bayars and restored the Waterlow name.
He is a cinnamon roll that can take out eight guys by himself in a sneak attack, no questions asked.
He healed Raisa without knowing how to properly use healing magic.
He is Ragmarkets best knife fighter second only to Cat.
He is highly intelligent.
He looks good while doing everything.
Seriously, there is nothing this man cannot do.

I wanted to make a list of the ship names in The Seven Realms. By the way the only ones I ship are Han and Raisa, Cat and Dancer, Talia and Pearlie, and the other cannon ships. (This is how I refer to them):
1. Raisa and Han: Rain (also known as the worlds best ship, a perfect romance, two idiots in love, the wizard gang-lord street thief and the queen, and cinnamon rolls that can definitely kill you).
2. Raisa and Amon: Ramen
3. Raisa and Micah: No thank you, not in any universe
4. Raisa and Nightwalker: Stalker and the queen
5. Han and Bird: Baird
6. Han and Cat: Can
7. Han and Fiona: Rinse my eyes with acid
9. Talia and Pearlie: Pearlia
10. Cat and Dancer: Cat Fire
11. Cat and Velvet: Calvet
12. Amon and Annamaya: Annamon
13. Adam and Mondra: Adillers
14. Marianna and Gavan: A very problematic duo
15. Marianna and Averill: Divorce material

i agree, reading the low star reviews are fun, especially for this book series bc only ppl that don’t read the full series don’t like it. and, i’ll be honest, raisa wasn’t my fav in the first book (she develops. it would be boring having a character that was fully grown and matured already by the first book) but hating raisa bc she’s a teenage girl that isn’t afraid to make a move is awful. especially bc it’s such a double standard! i love han, but it isn’t like he was a blushing virgin 😭
anyways, these books are freaking amazing, raisa is one of the most well-written, characters in the book (i always tell ppl that she’s one of the best character development arcs i’ve ever read), and ppl that don’t love her are boring and hate women 🤷‍♀️
This may be a completely abnormal behavior of mine, but I really like to read the one star reviews of my favorite books to laugh at how bad they are. I was reading the one star reviews for The Demon King. All of the were so funny, especially the first one you will see by a guy on good reads. But I noticed a very sad theme with a lot of the commentary. A lot of the one stars had to do with Raisa and how she made out with people. A lot of people were mad that she liked kissing guys and liked to kiss people. I was so upset that people thought this was a bad thing in a book. I feel that having a female character that is not afraid to kiss “on screen” and there be no obvious problem with it is so refreshing and great to read. I was sad that a lot of comments were slut-shaming her. I don’t know it just really made me sad.

Han and Raisa are the best couple in all of the books in the world and in The Seven Realms. Though this does not need explanation, I have been thinking about this a lot lately. So here we go. (This is going to skip around a lot just as a heads up.)
Han and Raisa understand each other. Yes, Amon and Raisa have known each other forever and are said to know everything about each other through the books, but, Han and Raisa have always just known what the other wants. Han knows that Raisa wants to be treated like a human being and not like a queen or something to use and that is all he ever does. Raisa knows that he feels like he does not belong and tries with all her power to make him feel like he has a place and he belongs with her. Unlike with Amon, who constantly uses her title as queen against her to make a point or de-humanize her. Han always speaks to her as a human being first and would never try to use her status against her in the way Amon does making her feel bad about her position.
Further, in The Crimson Crown when Micah is exchanging rings and reaches for the last thing that Han gave her, she pulls away so fast and instead gives him her only line of defense against magic. A defense that she would need especially is she is going to be marrying into a family like the Bayars. She gives up the only thing that will protect her just so that she can have one small reminder of Han, even if it costed her everything that she has ever loved. Her Queendom, her freedom, and her friends.
Then there is Han who is willing to give up all of his happiness and probably destroy himself, just so that Raisa can be happy, when he thought she was going to marry Micah over him. He was willing to go, see her face to face after being tortured by the very person she would soon marry, so he could save her from harm even though it was killing him inside and stay there long enough, even if it meant having to witness their wedding, just to make sure that her throne was secure and she was safe. Also right before this, when he goes to see. Row in Aediion, Crow is looking over Han and notices that the spark (the one thing in him that keeps him going, makes him, him, makes him alive) seems to have gone out. That was just so sad and the fact that even though all hope and happiness had left him, he still wanted time make sure she was okay and that she was happy and had hope.
Going back to the Raisa and Amon thing, there are not really power imbalances between Han and Raisa. Where Raisa can always pull the queen card and Amon could always pull the Captain card, where with Han and Raisa, because he sees her as a real human being and does not see her status, there will never be a power imbalance.
The in The Grey Wolf Throne, when Han was supposed to be made at Raisa for lying, he went and started a whole gang after he was pardoned for crimes, worked tirelessly to make sure she was safe and people liked her, and agreed to go to the Wizard Council where he would be a greater target.
Not to mention the fact that he just could not get the idea of her out of his head, so he came up with a giant elaborate scheme to marry her, because he loved her so much and did countless little things in order to make sure that she would be able to marry him. He also did a lot of illegal things in order to make this happen which could easily point a finger at him for the Wizards murders, or treason. Then there are all the little things through the books. Like when Raisa notices how Han’s spark that usually burns so bright in his is seeming to “flicker” and how beaten down he looked, wanting to help. Or when Han noticed that she saw the scabs in his knuckles and didn’t want her to worry so he quickly put his hands under the table.
Or when they cried together in Hanalea’s Garden because the stress of everything was finally getting to them and they really opened up to each other for the first time to truly understand each other.
Sorry this is a very confusing post and I and I will probably add to it when I find more, but thank you crow reading! I am sorry it is confusing and all over the place.

i think this may be one of my new favorite posts.
Quick Question
In Crimson Crown, Raisa said that her and her father are great dancing partners because they are close in height. So, does that mean that Averill is always getting into these heated arguments with Han and he was trying to be intimidating, meanwhile Han was having to look down at him?

to the people of tumblr. i implore you to read my favorite book series of like 6 years, the shattered realms by cinda williams chima, which contains my #1 ship of all time and happens to have like 5 other fans on planet earth and im not sure any of them are alive today. you cannot give up at the first book you have to make it to book 3 because thats when my alltime favorite characters start getting more attention (in the first two they're established as antagonists from other characters' povs but theyre trying to do good :c)
if it'd help persuade a single person, i drew all the main characters here as well.... i just need someone to talk to about desvan....... please ......
if u want more info abt the series, it's a young adult wartime fantasy that has a good amount of focus on the political aspects of the war. my fav is destin karn, lieutenent and spymaster for the 2 kings of the antagonistic kingdom :P
he and evan are in a canon queer relationship which brings me such joy and its such a fun dynamic, with a troubled soldier x free pirate, bonded through an unlikely encounter. they have such fun exchanges as well!
when i say i need someone to talk to about it i MEAN it i would like nothing more than to compare notes i have been keeping this to myself since early middle school and theres, like, one substantial post abt the series on tumblr and no other social media apps and hardly any more fics about it. ive reread the third and fourth books probably like 8 times (+ at least 8 more for just the beginning of book 3 and the end of book 4) and it just sits in my head rotting because i can only turn destin and evan over in my microwave brain so many times before they get burnt or something
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is a cry for help and tumblr is my final hope. tumblr, home of the niche fandoms and readers and also gay people.... heed my call !!! i beg of thee!!!!! read my favorite series !!!! whole post literally begging and pleading!!!!

Averill:
What is a more hurtful and cruel way to say despise? To be completely honest I cannot stand Averill, but he is a very tricky character as Micah will be and these posts will not be completely organized but I am going to try my best.
For starters, Averill, throughout the story, has many opportunities to try and understand other characters (especially his daughters) and never takes them up. Raisa often tries to make him understand that the people of the Fells (Wizards, average citizens, and the Clans) have to be united in order for her to succeed as a queen. Instead of listing to his daughter and acting like a mature adult, he all but covers his ears and hums as she speaks. He refused to be an actual adult, who is in his fifties (probably, he seems old), and realize that 1) his daughter is the queen first and even though she won’t she very well could execute him for treason, and 2) being a leader himself, he should be able to realize that it is better for him and his people to be united, even with it is with people that they used to fight a thousand years ago. He should have been able to do exactly what Raisa was telling Dimitri to do in The Exiled Queen; Put his own wants and feelings behind and think about his people. Though he has been made to think that fighting is a life line and war runs in their blood, he should be able to comprehend what a war between the Wizards and Clans would do to his daughter. His complete lack of caring for his daughter is insane and it makes me despise this character more. Further, when General Dudain came in to see Raisa and he said “It is childish to think we can all get along and sing the same song” or something of that nature, it is so annoying. For one his daughter thinks that if she works hard enough at it, this could happen. She is definitely not childish. He does not care to understand her or her goals as a queen, much less respect them. Then of course there is the issue of Nightwalker. He can tell that Raisa does not want to rush into a marriage and wants to be able to rule without having to worry so much on a political match. Instead he forces someone he picks on her. Not caring about how she feels. He knows that Nightwalker would try to take more control of her than he is allowed by the Neaming but he does not care so long as it suits the Clans, He knows that his daughter will be unhappy and Nightwalker, and thwarted unfaithfulness would bother her. Furthermore, there is Melony. She never wanted to spend time in the camps and had more in common with her mother than Averill. He never even tried to get to know her and didn’t even think of her when he handed the Camp to Nightwalker. I honestly think that he didn’t even comfort her after their mother died. For starters he wasn’t even around after the funeral and his two daughters had to go to him if they wanted to talk not the other way around. There is also the issue of non-related members.
Dancer is Clan just like Averill and did like him prior to knowing he was a Wizard. He had taken him on his trading routes and had mentored him in trading for sometime. But as soon as he found out he was a Wizard, all he felt towards Dancer was distain. He hated him for no other reason than the fact that he has magical abilities. He hates him for something he cannot control and then makes him leave his only home because of a law that he wants to uphold so that he could keep his daughter on a leash that he wishes he could with his wife to prevent her from getting with a Wizard. (Sorry that was a bit of a tangent).
Of course that brings he to Han. Averill definitely thought that Han was a loose cannon and wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible. He literally only hates him for the blood that was in his veins. Han, for all Averill knew, was doing exactly as he told him and was protecting his daughter, but Averill chooses to pick fights with him and actively takes part in planning his death. Though I can understand that Averill had reason to believe that Han and Raisa were together and he might be sad a bitter about Marianna, it most certainly does not excuse the fact that he was going to corner someone, who did nothing wrong, and if he tried to defend himself trap him and kill him. He has plenty of time and opportunity, to understand and realize that his unrequited love for Marianna, is very similar to Han and Raisa’s forbidden love for one another and even though he might not like Han, he should be there for his daughter and be able to understand what it is like to love someone so much, and you know what? He should be able to understand and see Han’s side in this because he is in love with someone that, by law cannot love him, and yet cannot help it, just as Averill loved Marianna and tried his best to make her love him she never did and he knows the pain that love brings. The fact that he failed to see it because of a law he chooses to uphold when he feels like it is extremely childish and shows how awful a person he is. I just wanted to add, he should really get over his martial problems and stop putting them on everyone else.
Averill also is just so annoying. He is literally in the Crimson Crow and is full on shocked to see his daughter back early after walking with Nightwalker. WHAT DID HE EXPECT! Did he genuinely think that Raisa would spend the night with someone who only wants his daughter for the throne she sits on?
He gave Han an ultimatum in the Demon King that really only had one choice and then was mad when Han and Raisa both did the same thing in The Crimson Crown when they wanted to get married. Like, dude, seriously?
He deserved to lose Nightwalker so he could open his eyes, or at least have his tail between his legs, when it came to being around Han and Raisa during their wedding.
This was more of a rant and there are so many other points that I cannot currently think of, but I think that this does a pretty good job of showing how I feel about him. Thank you!
Micah next!

Just curious if anyone else thought this:
When I first read the Seven Realms Series, I got worried in the Crimson Crown that there would be a Romeo and Juliet situation and Han and Raisa would be too late to see each other and she would end up dying by her own hand and Han would find her and not be able to take it and would let the flames take him.
Also, I will soon be posting my opinions of Lord Averill Demonia and Micah.

He ran as fast as his legs would take him. Past the Cornucopia snatching a small knife on his way just as one of the other tributes nearly barreled into him. All around people were grabbing weapons and blood quickly stained the grass in the middle of the arena. Cannons, sounding like drums, rang out marking the death of a tribute. It felt like an eternity until he reached Mari. Who was all but frozen to the platform where she stood, eyes wide and mouth hanging open.
Han grabbed her hand and tugged her away, forcing her to run with him. He spotted a backpack between him and the trees getting closer and closer until he was right in front of it. Without stopping he snatched in from the ground and kept running. The cannons dulled and eventually stopped as more and more tributes started running away from the bloodbath.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw a girl. The one from district one with the boy Shiv Connor. She raised her arm and threw a knife much like the one Han had taken just second before. Throwing the backpack up to protect himself and Mari. The impact knocked him back a little but he kept running, taking the knife out of the side of the pack, finally reaching the woods.
Han ran for a few more minutes, throwing in a few turns along the way just in case someone was trying to follow them. Only then did he stop running. Mari was overjoyed when the running stopped. Even though she was close to being Han’s height she still had a hard time keeping up. Once they stopped Han looked through the backpack. There was rope, an extra jacket, and a bottle for water. Checking the bottle for water he was quickly disappointed, but not shocked when he found the bottle to be bone dry.
“Do we have anything good?” Mari asked looking into the bag as they walked.
“Yeah, some rope and a water bottle,” Han answered. “An extra jacket too.”
They feel into silence walking through the forest. Twigs snapped under their feet and the sounds of the forest put them on edge.
It’ll be worse if we hear nothing at all, Han thought.
Mari clung close to Han, holding onto his jacket at times when terrain got rough and her feet began to slip.
Night was quickly approaching and the sky began to darken much faster than it would had they been outside of the arena.
The brother and sister duo stopped for the night climbing a tree to sleep in. Han took the rope from the bag and tied them tightly into the tree so they would not fall out while they sleep. The branch of the tree was thick enough that both of them could fit without being on top of each other.
Mari fell asleep after a long dead silence that left ringing in their ears. Han knew he should go to sleep but he felt the need to stay awake. He batted off his heavy eyes and dug his nails into his arms to keep his head upright. Even with his efforts though he slowly drifted away and went to sleep.
It wasn’t long before Han woke up to the smell of burning wood and the brightness that played on the other side of his eye lids.
Fire was burning through the forest. It was not incredibly close to them but Han could still hear the splitting of the tree wood and the roar of the flames.
“Mari! Mari, wake up!” Han said grabbing her shoulder and shaking her awake. He didn’t wait for a response. Instead he started quickly fumbling with the rope and the knot he tied. After a few attempts the rope came undone and Han and Mari climbed quickly from the tree and away from the fire that was only a few trees away.
With the fire burning their heels they ran further and further into the forest when flame started flying towards them.
They’re trying to kill us! Han thought. Fire doesn’t just hurl itself at a person!
Han took Mari’s hand as she stumbled over the fallen branches pulling her along.
Another ball of flame rushed toward them but this time Han could not get out of the way. It hit him straight in the leg almost making him fall. He kept going even though there was a pain searing in his leg. Blood was dripping down the side of his leg and going as far as to soaking his sock.
He had not time to worry about it though. They ran until they finally came across water. It was wide enough and far enough across that the fire wouldn’t spread. Looking back at the fire Han noticed something weird. There was no fire burning, which would have been fine. It could have stopped burning just as it had randomly started. But the forest was completely unharmed. No burnt trees or fallen branches. No cinders in the air. The entire arena was a trap and everything in it was completely artificial.
Going into the water Han took the water bottle that was in his back pack out and filled it. He had no idea where more would be. The burn on his leg stung to the point it was almost unbearable.
Still Han had no time to check the burn to see how bad it was as he could hear movement. Then he heard a sound that sent his heart to his throat. Voices, and they were getting closer.

“It’s going to be okay.” Crow said. It had become Han’s mantra lately. But it most definitely was not going to be okay. “They are putting you in a light raincoat and thicker pants, so it is safe to say they’ll likely put you in a rainforest.”
“Thank you.”
“You don’t have to thank me.” Crow said putting a hand on Han’s shoulder. “Before you go, I want to give you something.” Crow said whispering making Han have to lean in closer.
He put a chain over Han’s head. An old looking piece of metal work with an emblem hanging from the thin gold chain. A snake coiled around the circular form of the metal ring holding it together, so small yet detailed that Han could even see that the exposed fangs had venom on the tips.
“Tuck that under your shirt.”
“What is it?”
“A necklace.”
“Crow.”
“I had it made when I was younger with the intent of it passing through the family. I want it to bring you luck in the arena. I gave your sister a similar one, a raven…They’re symbols of our family.”
Han didn’t know what to say. He didn’t really have blood family or much history before he got to the Capital and his life was thrown out of wack.
“Thank you.”
“Just be safe and please don’t get yourself killed.”
“Why do you care so much?”
“I didn’t even know I had grandchildren, thought my only child was dead, until I saw you. What I am saying is that now I know I have a family, I want to try to protect it.”
“Thank you.” Han wanted to hug him but thought it would make things awkward. Instead he looked toward the tube that would take him to the arena.
Crow and him walked towards the tube both of them not knowing what to say to the other.
Han’s heart was racing and he felt like he was going to throw up. His stomach was doing backflips and his throat was burning and felt as if he had swallowed glass.
He took a step and then another and then he was in the tube.
The door whizzed shut behind him and the floor was raising him up.
He wasn’t ready. He couldn’t do this. He was going to die! He won’t be able to protect Mari! What was he thinking? This was going to end in disaster!
He looked at Crow for one last time, fear rolling through him. His legs felt like Jell-O and the blood was rushing to his head so fast that he was getting dizzy and black spots into his vision.
Breathe. Crow mouth to him. He took his advice, slowing his breathing and trying to clam his thoughts. It was the last time he saw Crow.
Now he had to focus on seeing Mari. Particularly, where she would be lined up in the arena so he can run and get her to take her away from what is going to be a blood bath.
The floor stopped moving and Han was met with a rainforest. I large opening in the center where they stood with all of the tributes semicircled around a giant cornucopia, stuffed so full with weapons that they pouring out into the middle of the field.
The forest was an array of rich greens and the trees were so dense it was almost impossible to see more than two trees in.
The timer which Han had been drowning out until then was beeping out numbers. There was two minutes and thirty one seconds left until the carnage would commence.
Han focused searching for Mari amoung the tributes. He found her awkwardly standing on her pillar. She was directly across from him. He was close to the Cornucopia, the closest one besides for Mari. He could grab one of the knives on the way to reaching Mari. It might be he’s fast. He could pull it off.
He was deep in thought when he heard commotion though. Well not commotion, more like an explosion.
A tribute, a thirteen year old from district ten, had tried to step off of their pillar early and it blew them sky high. Literally.
The spaces between the tributes pedestals were too far apart for there to be any sort of chain reaction, but a tribute that was right next to them almost tried running away until they stopped at the edge of their small circle, falling into their butt to prevent from falling off.
The clock was now at ten second. Han got ready, leaning forward slightly so he can get a better running start.
Then the timer went off.

“You did what?!” Abelard shouted, she gripped the bridge of her nose as if she had a headache. “Alister, you’re a smart boy, but with the actions you are taking it is making that very hard to believe.”
“I didn’t do anything that bad.”
“You threw a knife into the gamemasters box!”
“He should’ve been paying attention.”
Abelard opened her mouth to say something when Gryphon cut her off.
“Maybe it will work out in our favor, it adds to the drama, Mina, the Capital will love it.”
Calming down slightly, Abelard said, “fine, you just better hope it does not affect your scores, those tribute trials were the last thing that will get you sponsors.”
All while they were talking, the scores for the other tributes were playing on the TV that was set up in their overly large apartment. Mari was sitting in front of it waiting and watching for her score. Making their way to the couch, Han, Abelard, and Gryphon sat down each waiting for Han and Mari’s scores.
Shiv got a ten and the girl who appeared to be his girlfriend, Max, got a nine.
Han watched as they played through his mind going elsewhere when he saw a familiar face.
Velvet got a five and the girl from his district, Han could never remember her name, got a four. He was surprised that Velvet had scored so low. He was a solid fighter. Han expected him to at least get a nine.
Then Mari was on the screen, her face looking into his, not smiling like she usually did. A nine appeared next to her.
“Wait to go Mari!” Han said as Mari jumped up to hug him.
“Look, look, you’re up.” Mari pointed, tightening her hold on him.
Eleven
An Eleven?
An Eleven!
Han had gotten an eleven out of ten points. Everyone froze in shock for a moment, then the cheering began when they realized it wasn’t a mistake.
Gryphon turned in his wheelchair and little, facing Han and Mari. “You might just have a fighting chance after all.”
Yes, Han thought, and tomorrow we’ll need it.
