God doesn't need you to fight for Him btw. He needs you to fight for the marginalised and oppressed.

in regards to Pope Francis' passing, i need you to be brave. we must hold onto hope. it is all we have. we can't allow anticipatory grief stifle us. we must trust God, we must trust in the mission Pope Francis spent his entire papacy building. NO DEFEATISM. NO FEAR-MONGERING. NO DOOMER SHIT. DO YOU HEAR ME?
our faith is that of an empty tomb. hope when all hope seems reckless, naïve, purposeless. never lose heart.

Wait a minute, I need everyone to go back to the beginning. I was 11 when Pope Francis took his seat and the first thing my dad (a Lutheran minister) explained to me was how radical it was that Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio had chosen Francis for his papal name. St Francis, whose two biggest concerns were Creation and the poor. Pope Francis turned his back on a long tradition of papal power— of Leos the Lions, of invoking powerful patriarchs like John Paul, of indomitable Rocks, like Peter. He embraced humility and pledged himself to service. Those of us who grew up under Pope Francis easily forget how radical is very name is.
I am not catholic, and it is not my place to predict what may happen next, but I hope that, someday sometime in the future, he will be remembered as Pope Francis the First.

so i just found out about that "the devil can scrap, but the Lord has won" trend on tiktok.
basically people post old photos of themselves when they were openly queer, wore alt fashion, did cosplay, etc... captioned "the devil can scrap," followed by current pictures of them wearing the most basic, milquetoast clothes ever captioned "but the Lord has won"
it's basically giving the message that you have to give up your identity and individuality completely in order to truly be a Christian.
this honestly breaks my heart. like... i'm not exaggerating.
as someone who's always been a bit of an outcast, and is a nerdy, progressive, queer Christian, i don't believe people should have to surrender what makes them unique or happy in order to "please God."
did we forget that Jesus was the ultimate outcast? did we forget how he hung out with the "undesirables" of society?
if you're a queer, nerdy, alt-fashion, etc. person of faith, and you're wondering whether or not your identity is pleasing to God... please erase any doubts from your mind right now.
God knows your heart, and God loves you as you are. please continue to be the wonderful and unique individual that God made you to be. 💖

Anyway if nothing else matters then I hope people remember that Pope Francis used his last public address to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and call Israel a terrorist state:
"I continue to receive very serious and painful news from Gaza. Unarmed civilians are subjected to bombings and shootings. It is terrorism."

My heart goes out to my catholic moots and siblings in Christ. Pope Francis was a good man that brought so much humanity and humbleness to the papacy. I pray that whoever is called into the role next picks up the mantle and continues with progress.
May God rest his soul.

Most Christians think they care about the poor and care about helping the poor.
Do you really?
Most people picture the poor as someone who is kind, humble, and grateful for help, really similar to themselves, just down on their luck trying to feed their families.
What about the smelly poor? The poor who you offer to carry their bag and your arm becomes engulfed in bugs? The rude poor? The poor that believes in “backwards” things? Poor who have voted for someone you despise? The drug-addicted, belligerent poor? The poor who turn to crime? The poor who may yell obscenities at you as you try to help them and love them? If you do not wish to serve “those” poor, your love for the poor is conditional. And that’s something you need to pray about.
