the summer hikaru died is a horrible tragedy about being the only gay people in your hometown and how that complicates the experience of realizing your feelings for someone, the sense of isolation and otherness you feel growing up and knowing that youre different. it's also the series where a teenage boy falls off a cliff and dies because he stopped to look at a tree shaped like a sexy lady. im not kidding btw that's literally how original hikaru died. that's the inciting incident of this whole series. he went AWOOGA and ate shit so bad he died in the forest and that's how he got replaced by an eldritch entity. anyway everybody should watch the anime the first ep is out now

homunculushound on Patreon suggested "Warbler meeting Condor/Warbler Condor interactions" but a lot of the scenes I WOULD want to draw with these two, are very spoilery + their first meeting is pretty boring so INSTEAD I decided to do something a bit more symbolic+a little snippet from MUCH later in the script without context >:3c that David Cronenberg quote from one of his books is also so Condor and Warbler core it's crazy.

Condor's feeling of love and affection is so tied to death and killing. Condor and Warbler's dynamic is one of the backbones of the whole story. I'm very excited to get more into ittttt

at some point you have to realize that you actually have to read to understand the nuance of anything. we as a society are obsessed with summarization, likely as a result of the speed demanded by capital. from headlines to social media (twitter being especially egregious with the character limit), people take in fragments of knowledge and run with them, twisting their meaning into a kaleidoscope that dilutes the message into nothing. yes, brevity is good, but sometimes the message, even when communicated with utmost brevity, requires a 300 page book. sorry.
