imagine you get autoplayed a video of an orchestra performing ein heldenleben and you play it, expecting it to be just another performance you can put on in the background while you wash dishes.
so it starts off normal, with the cursory tasteful close-ups of musicians and instruments. then they pull out to show the full orchestra:
Tumblr media
but soft, what vision breaks in the upper right corner of the screen? it's a second orchestra, and soon it is joined by a third, until what looks like three alien ships are descending upon your screen:
Tumblr media
and then there comes this. i don't even think i could describe it. here you go.
it continues in this vein, interspersing split-screen live conductor reactions:
Tumblr media
THEN PERISH:
Tumblr media
the first violins glowing, for whatever reason:
Tumblr media
whatever this is:
Tumblr media
and the camera operator not knowing what to focus on and settling on the warped reflection of a brass player in one of their colleagues' instruments:
Tumblr media
at last, at the climax, the conductor appears in the sky like mufasa:
Tumblr media
at the very last, the audience is left with this parting gift from the editor and cinematographer:
Tumblr media
leaving you, your dishes totally forgotten, and your stomach aching from how hard you are laughing in your empty apartment.
youtube
bon appétit.

do you ever find an orchestral recording on youtube that has so many odd choices in editing and cinematography that you forget all your dishes and laugh the hardest you ever have in weeks

thought ate doctoraladvisor wasn’t in her office yet bc i thought her light wasn’t on and was sort of waiting outside her door and suddenly i could hear her moving around inside. and just as i thought “she’s going to open the door directly on me and get startled” she opened the door with her tea infuser and little bowl in hand, saw me about to knock, jumped, and screamed

“This is what they took from you” and it’s a blonde family cooking barbecue in the suburbs? Brother you are racist and fascist over hot dogs? You know you can still do that. Also if you befriend other ethnicities, they will bring cool other food to the potluck. Stupid ass

i am STILL mystified by how not only did my uncle (1) end up in the same place as cardinal tagle but also (2) it was the cardinal’s actual house (3) they casually said Mass also in his house (4) the cardinal’s family was there too in his house (5) dude like my uncle met and talked with and spent time with cardinal tagle. for what. how did this come about. what is my uncle, whom i have sometimes looked at and thought enviously that i could make a better priest if i had been born a man, cooking

if you have a popular post on this site inevitably people will tag it with something like “croggles to bringles when they lost the ploogie in ep 10” and it rules. i have no idea what you’re talking about but you’re right this IS so croggles to bringles when they lost the ploogie in episode 10.
