[pm] I don’t know about even. You do let me stay over at the house so much. And eat your food. I’ll help more! I should help more. I don’t mean to leave things half done, but they call, and
Well, he’s not always cat-shaped. Wait, why would y You know me. But he’s always good company. I think. I’ll bring him over.
[pm] You’ve helped me for a long time, Sol. It might be more fair to say we’re past trying to count who owes whom.
Wait - cat shaped? I thought - I thought you meant he had a cat. And because you’re a dog I figured that you’d be worried about the cat than the person Well okay then. Um. Food suggestions? Would fish be a good choice?

[pm] I would love to bring him by. I am sure he’ll spend hours asking you all about flowers, but then find himself a corner and read or do whatever project he’s gotten himself started on. Thank you so much.
[pm] I like questions, you know that. Gives me something to do while I work.
I look forward to seeing you both.

[pm] Thank you very much. He does! He likes all the ones that like to come and visit our home I am certain he’d love the bunny decorations, it’d make it all the nicer.
[pm] Perfect, I’m glad for it. You’re welcome to bring him in any time, you know, if he wanted to see where you work or was curious. The way you talk about him, I’m sure everyone would love it.

[pm] I know. But you aren’t a resource, you’re my friend. My very patient friend who puts up with a lot of questions.
I’ll tell him! He doesn’t take up much room, and he’s not too noisy. You’ll like him, he’s very likeable.
[pm] I like questions - plus, I have my own too, which you help with. So I think we’re even.
Cats generally don’t and aren’t, I’m not worried about it. If he’s a friend of yours, I’m sure he will be a friend of mine. I’m looking forward to it!

But what if I get that wrong? Trying counts for something. You’re right.
I have a lot of reason to.
[pm] He doesn’t mind the pleasant ones! I don’t think he’d have anything to do with a computer, but I can tell him to leave that alone. And good, that’s good. His name’s Huey.
[pm] You know you can always ask me about the people things, right? I mean, I know I’m not the best resource, but I’m pretty sure I’m better than the internet. The internet is not always great with people.
I’ll look forward to meeting him then - he should probably come by the house with you?

[pm] Quick question; Easter is coming up, would it be possible for me to take thirty minutes out of my day to make up an arrangement of flowers for Julian?
[pm] Of course - you’re welcome to whatever you’d like in the shop. There’s more than enough ribbon to spare. Or little decorations. There were these cute little bunny ones I couldn’t help but order... Does he like bunnies?

I just don’t like upsetting people, even by accident. It still hurts. Learning’s important, and I want to, but - I’d rather not hurt anyone, along the way.
I know you do, all the time. Think of everywhere your flowers go! Birthdays, weddings. Funerals, too. They make a difference. And you make a difference, just being like you are.
[pm] On a whole other note - I’ve got a friend, who needs someplace to stay. For a while. Might be a while, might not, he kind of… wanders. But he can pay rent, and he’s friendly, he’s nice, and really, really clean. Would you mind having somebody else around the house, for a bit? And what are your feelings on cats? That is very relevant, I promise.
I doubt you would. But your intentions are good, worst comes to worst you can always try an apology?
You have so much faith in what I do, I appreciate it.
[pm] ...okay? Does he mind ghosts? You know how Andrew gets around people who scream every time he goes through a wall. And if someone messes with his computer - I get lectures for hours. I like cats? Not as partial to them as I am to dogs, but they’re not bad.

[pm] Magic always makes me…a little nervous. Long, long story. But it’s great that you try and…help people.
And I don’t, actually–I’m still learning my way around town. But I’d love to come by sometime. I have a ‘friend who could use a good ficus.
[pm] I like to think I do help. If you’d like, I’d be glad to show you - magic isn’t something to nervous about, in my opinion. Not if used well, used by people who mean well in their use of it.
I can help with that. Just ask for me when you come in.

I would agree entirely. Memories are also something truly yours, and if you hold onto them well enough, nobody can take them away. Nobody ought to have the right to do so, I think.
Thank you, again. Your kindness is always appreciated.
I agree entirely.
Of course, Fiona, it’s always my pleasure.

I guess. I mean, I never get bored of people, but - knowing how to talk to somebody, that’s… tricky. You know, I don’t want to get it wrong.
I would. And maybe they don’t ask out loud, but I think everyone wishes to be happy, to just have a nice day now and then and feel cared about. You do that, you give people that.
Even if you do, it should to learn for the future, shouldn’t it? Seems like a good thing in the long run. More experience, more variety, more chance of success moving forward?
I hope I do. I appreciate that you think so.

But everybody’s got their different circumstances, and situations, and This sounds like one of those lessons you’ve just got to learn by doing, huh? Over and over and over again. With everybody. Why does it always get so complicated?
I mean, you don’t have to be the princess. You’ve got a little of the fairy godmother thing down? Just, no fairy part. But your garden’s a kind of sidekick, isn’t it? Or a lot of sidekicks, all together…
Isn’t that the joy of people, though? Or at the very least, it prevents boredom when talking and meeting people, especially when you meet so many.
Fairy godmother? Since when do I grant wishes? I’m not counting feeding you as granting a wish.

That is a very accurate descriptor – while it is not my favorite time of the year, it is a magic sort of time for county fairs. It is amazing what stays with us. How certain aspects of childhood or what-have-you will be of incredible importance even though to others they might seem insignificant.
I believe in thanking others for their kindness, no matter if it is a basic truth or otherwise.
Exactly. Nostalgia is deeply personal, but no less important for it.
You really are very sweet, Fiona. You’re welcome, then.

fathergeier:
[pm] Mine too.
Faith is similar to a lot of things, insofar as it can be used for good or for evil. That’s why I love my job–I love to talk to people about their beliefs and their struggles, about the Bible, about morality. About their joy and their pain–the times when it’s easy to love God and those times when it’s difficult, and how even on the darkest of days, the Lord is there. I love to see faith used as a force for good. A weapon that can drive out the darkness.
A practitioner? On second thought, excuse me–gotta go find that pitchfork again. Kidding…mostly. What does that involve, exactly? You’re not–I dunno–summoning the Devil or anything are you?
[pm] That’s a really lovely way to approach it. Faith is such a powerful thing - one just has to be careful what they choose to place their belief in.
Oh, no. Absolutely not. Wrong sort of sacrifices around for that kind of thing, you know, I’d need to have a baby on hand - I’m joking, of course. No idea what that would take and I don’t really want to find out. I’m an enchanter and I’m a florist. I own the Enchanted Florist, if you know of it? We do a lot of the arrangements in town. For spells, I do a lot of little things. Good luck charms, luck in love, hopes for wealth, that kind of thing. Nothing too worrying, I hope.

[pm] Well, then I’ll be sure to confiscate the torches and pitchforks too.
But seriously…don’t mind them. See, we talk a good game about loving our neighbors but it’s easier said than done. We forget sometimes how hard it is to live a truly Christian life, to be the kind of people our faith inspires us to be. We’re kind of a jealous partner sometimes–telling ourselves the Lord only loves us because we’re X, that He can’t possibly love anyone else because they’re not. But the truth is…God loves everyone, yourself included. So–“witchy” or no, to me you’re always welcome.
[pm] The faith you have is remarkable. The power of belief can be so underestimated, but it’s really something wonderful, in my experience.
Oh no, you mistake me - I am a witch. Well, practitioner. That’s the preferred term, generally. Mrs. Johnson, my neighbor, adores it. Says my garden is the best in the neighborhood and keeps asking me to cast a spell on hers too. In my neighborhood, it’s not a bad thing.

Oh geez–people’ve been talking about me, huh? Good things, I hope.
Oh…that’s cool. You’re welcome to stop by anytime regardless–I promise we’ll keep the stone-throwing to a minimum.
A little bit, some of my neighbors like to gossip. It’s all been good things, I promise. Little old ladies just like to talk, you know?
I appreciate that, always a concern for me. Bible’s pretty firm on detesting me.

Yeah, I suppose.
I’m Father Geier, by the way…are you interested in attending one of our services at St. Dunstan’s?
Oh you’re that Father people have been talking about. Juniper Rahne, but I go by Jun.
Sorry, I don’t - I don’t mind religion or anything, but I’m not much of a church person. I appreciate the sense of community church can build, but I tend not to mix well.
