The social media monitoring tool I chose was Hootsuite. My discussion for this week is this--How will the message strategy change as Trader Joe’s becomes more established in its location and within the minds of its targeted segments.

I think that as Trader Joe's becomes more established in its location and in the minds of its targeted segments, it's message strategy will probably try to keep appealing to its main consumers, yet trying to reel in new potential customers. It will probably be based off of things like coupons, deals, or reward points when shopping there. They might also put out the message that " Hey we're Trader Joe's and we're here to stay to serve and provide the best for you" Overall, I think that one of their main goals within their messaging strategy is to try and retain its current consumers and reach new ones with things like deals, discounts, new products (if possible) and good tag lines or captions.

My Biography

Hello to all that read this! My name is Robert Bradley Jr. I am 21 years old and a junior attending the University of West Alabama. My major is Integrated Marketing Communications – Sports Communications. I am the second eldest of four children and I am the oldest of the sons. I would describe myself as humble, relaxed, smart, funny, helpful, and a little weird (in a good way). I believe that if a person isn’t at least a little weird, then they must be a robot, or some highly trained perfectionist sent to show us weird ones the “right way to live”.  Some of my friends would say that I am a double junior because of my name’s suffix and my classification, funny. I grew up in a small town, Linden, Alabama, about 15 miles south of Demopolis. I attended school in Grove Hill, Alabama, 45 mins more south of my hometown, from kindergarten until graduation.

I enjoy watching many shows on TV growing up such as Winnie the Pooh, Transformers, Sponge Bob, and one of my favorite comedy  shows “Who’s Line is it Anyways”. I also enjoy watching sports, mainly football (Roll Tide), with basketball being the secondary choice. I played football from the 4th grade until I graduated so it played a main role in shaping my life along with my parents and grandmothers. Along with football, I participated in other clubs and organizations including beta club, student government association, archery, and scholars’ bowl. I aspire to be an announcer, broadcaster, commentator, or assistant commentator for sports. I want to do football ultimately, but I know I will have to take steps at a smaller level to reach my end goal. I would not mind working behind the scenes as a camera worker, but it could also open doors to other job opportunities that I might come to enjoy as well. I also would want to coach one day and make a change in a person’s life for the good.

Friday assignment

One of my favorite movies out of the saga Star Wars is Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. I think this certain movie poster attracts audiences to buy tickets because of the color of the poster and the numerous designs. The color in my opinion, red-ish and white, somewhat has a mood attached to it. The numerous designs, such as the scene with Han Solo and Princess Leia and Darth Vader looking out into space supposedly mesh together and hints at how this part of the saga might turn out.

Wednesday assignment

One of my favorite logos since I was a little is the Under-Armor logo. I think this logo works because of its design. It looks like it has both a U and an A once you flip it upside down or right side up. I think it building brand affinity because of its appeal to people, but athletes mainly, in my opinion. It is also how the word armor goes along with keeping one safe from harm or danger.

Monday assignment

What I hope to learn in this sports publication class is how to properly write and portray sports from a writing standpoint. I also hope to learn how to correctly use sports writing to serve as eyes for people who are not in attendance of sporting events, while using the right format and use of language permitted. Overall, I hope to improve on my writing skills while talking about sports to others.
