She/Her ~ "There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly West. Some courage and some wisdom, blended in measure. If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world" - JRR Tolkien~ Wanderer of redwood forests, oak studded hills, river banks, and ocean beaches. Supporting artists and being more creative and self-sufficient are always priorities💖

Honestly being overworked makes people unobservant and passive and it literally kills people every day. People don’t seem to realize that an overworked nurse might not notice your sepsis symptoms and a tired truck driver might not notice your car when he’s merging into the lane. Failing to protect worker’s rights impacts nearly everyone

Several years ago, on a crowded commuter train in southern england, I was standing in the aisle, being miserable with many other miserable people, and there was an annoying persistent rattling noise. it was loud, inconsistent but constant, and designed to inflict suffering. Eventually I worked out that it was a window, which obviously needed to be open because it was sweltering hot, but which (being a british train not in London) was a piece of shit falling apart.
I took a random scrap of receipt from my pocket, folded it up, and with a serene "pardon me" popped that fucker straight into the part of the window that was rattling. the rattle stopped instantly. silence spread like a balm. the bliss was intense, palpable, intimate. I felt powerful love and affection. sometimes things happen like that.

Met with a local forester last week because there is a free tree program in my town and we signed up. The electric company just came by to mark where the trees are going!
We're getting a street tree and a yard tree. I requested a Black Walnut for the street. No one ever asks for those, I guess, and the forester was really excited that we wanted one. If that's not available, we'll be getting a White Oak.
The yard tree is what I'm most excited about. I asked if they had any native fruiting trees and she says, "Well we don't have a lot of options for that, but if you're looking for something that fruits..."
She flips to a page in her tree species book and shows me a Serviceberry! I was ecstatic.
If you own your home definitely look into free tree programs or greening initiatives near you. My city is pretty urban, so the goal of this project is to add more trees in order to support wildlife and reduce the "Urban Heat Island effect".
I will definitely be showing off photos of my new Serviceberry once planted.

Capitalism does not breed innovation.
Tech gatekeepers have escaped so many investigations and consequences from breeches of trust.
The People need to make a change.
