CHALLENGE 03

our third challenge is all about your character’s family! take some time to dive into who your character’s parents are, what they were like, and what they do now (if they’re still around). go as deep or surface level as you want, but have fun with exploring this aspect of your character’s backstory. 

how should you explore that relationship? however you want! but here’s a guide if you want one to follow

cast all of their faces

describe their age, occupations, and some traits

write a paragraph or two that dives into your character’s relationship with this family member

of course, feel free to dive deeper and write more about the parent’s specific backstory or write a self-para about that relationship. it’s all up to what you feel inspired to do. this task is optional, but a great way to expand on your character and the untouchables verse. tag your work with untouchable:task !

dear untouchables,

as you know, the tragic passing of the carreaux family has left their affairs out of order. the carreauxs were handling a rather large sum of money for the sanctum, which they were using their real estate business to launder. as law enforcement looks into jasper’s death, it is important that we move these funds as quickly as possible. 

we’ve found a bank in stockholm, sweden, but it isn’t exactly easy for one person to travel alone – the cash requires much more than one checked bag. additionally, it works better if you are all able to...check each other. we find funds are transferred easiest when everyone can hold their friends accountable. and that’s what you are, friends. friends on a high-class spring break vacation to a popular tourist destination. you’re there to experience art and culture, to party and make memories. 

the money? a minor detail.

as you know, the stakes are high. the bank of sweden has been made aware of the transfer, but it is important that you stay in their good graces. the money must be transferred with utmost care, as to not draw any suspicion. otherwise, have a fun week and a fabulous vacation.

the maritzberg manor

this is where the untouchables will be staying while they are abroad. equipped with a spa, pool, and full gym, it is the pinnacle of luxury. additionally, the entire manor has been rented out for the untouchables, so they are the only guests present. staff is still there. everyone has been given their own room, aside from any couples, who have been given a room together. the manor is located just outside of town and there is a driver available who can take them to the city. 

the bank of sweden

untouchables are expected to make regular trips to the bank throughout the week to deposit the money. not all of it can be deposited at once, as that would arise suspicion and be awkward to transport. they are not allowed to travel or deposit alone (at least two people must sign off on each deposit), so they are encouraged to go together. you are also encouraged to go with a different person every time.

stockholm’s most elite and popular club, known for its opulence and grandeur. champagne flows and popular djs turn the tables every night. untouchables are encouraged to become immersed in nightlife and engage in photo ops and social media posts. after all, their spring break vacation is supposed to appear as if it is completely recreational. they need to take the steps to ensure the public believes that is so.

CHALLENGE 02

our second task is a bit more unconventional and plot-related, but we’ll be back to your regular scheduled programming of cliche character development challenges next week. this week, i ask you to explore your character’s relationship with the carreaux family a little bit. the news of jasper carreaux’s death has just made the papers and characters likely have their own theories about what happened and who is to blame. but either way, it’s clear that no one is safe. 

how should you explore that relationship? here are some ideas!

a short drabble or self para of an interaction or encounter your character had with one or both of the carreauxs

a playlist with a description that describes your character’s relationship with the carreauxs

a moodboard with a description that describes your character’s relationship with the carreauxs

make a page on your blog that describes your character’s connections to the carreauxs

this task is optional, but a fun way to add some angst to your character’s backstory that ties to the plot and to give them something to think about as they move into doing the work the carreaux’s left behind with the next task. tag your work with untouchable:task !

i’m sure you won’t be surprised to learn that your colleagues question your loyalties most. as a result, we’ve come to doubt your allegiances. however, we value you. intelligent, beautiful, and on the cusp of the a-list, you’re someone we don’t want to lose. after all, no one simply leaves the sanctum. 

jasper carreaux, the last husband of lucinda has proven to be a nuisance for the work of the sanctum. i’m sure you have heard the rumors he’s spreading – about lucinda’s death being more than a suicide. this, of course, is preposterous. however, his fate won’t be so lucky as yours. 

what we need from him is the key to lucinda’s vault to move on to the next phase of your task, but unfortunately, he has been most uncooperative. if you could find yourself in his good graces – a certain level of seduction may be required – and attain this key for us, your efforts will be appreciated. a sanctum associate will arrive shortly at the carreaux residence to take care of mr. carreaux and collect the key from you. it is most important that you corroborate each other’s alibis.

message: the sanctum and the untouchables are able to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship based on one virtue: trust. recent events have resulted in our concern for the very basis of this relationship, making this survey a necessity. please mark the name of the member whose loyalties you are most uncertain about and corrective action will be taken to ensure their compliance. choosing to not partake in the survey will result in punitive action.

we know that mrs. carreaux’s death has been both tragic and shocking for many of you. the work she did for the sanctum was highly important and she will be missed. in lieu of tragic events, it is best that we come together for support, solidarity, and to take care of any unfinished business. please know that we value and appreciate your work with the sanctum; if you ever find yourself in trouble, know that you can always turn to us. turning to the authorities in times of need can be very dangerous and we have the resources to keep you safe. we sincerely hope that this does not happen to any untouchables in the future, we value your membership greatly. 

as some of you may know, mrs. carreaux was involved with the transportation of money to banks overseas. now, that responsibility will fall to those of you receiving this letter. transportation and arrangements with sweden will follow in the coming weeks, but it is important that you all appear to the public to be the closest of friends. this operation depends on it. consider this gathering a way to rekindle relationships, discuss recent events, and touch base with one another. 

the gathering will take place in the abandoned speakeasy on 96th street. please take the secret entrance to the loft. when you leave, take the file labeled with your name, though do not open it until instructed. place it in your safe at home and await further details. refreshments will be provided at this event.
