for me, theres 4 different types of effects of autism:

1: from general autism (eg: not liking cramped spaces of people)

2: from a specific diagnosis (eg: nervous speaking to people)

3: from masking/being free of masking (eg: special interests)

the way i see medical care as is like the roots of an interconnected web of trees, bassicly interconnected trees send nutrition from all the hundreds of other trees to one specific tree when its damaged. One person has to pay for medicine, and a tiny bit of money gets extracted from every other person (in the form of already paid taxes) to pay for the medicine

before someone goes "but 50k is a lot", well its not a lot compared to 300 million people, and second, that much is a number made up by hospital owners, and is revertable

ok lets try to flip it, a terrorist donates all their money to charity, does that mean terrorism is good? Fuck no. lets say even 50% of terrorists donate to charity, does that mean the other 50% is good? FUCK NO, lets say 99% of terrorists donate just some amount of money in their life, does that mean all terrorism is good? well its certainly warranting an investigation, and proper tax deduction for the 99% that did it, but it does not make terrorism good.

the "cure" for autism is having the general public to understand it

Autism is not something that needs a fucking cure. Autism is something that needs to be better understood & accommodated for. If you are too impatient to understand that, then that's a failing on your behalf

sadly, its the only way we can combat the bigots (when its one on one arguements), because they wont listen to "thats eugenics", they will only listen to the same type of half-studies they already listen to.

doesnt it take like years of psychological analysis for a medical transition, like at that point you know if the child actually needed it. and like what happens if the child gets an autism diagnoses? do they still get the medical transition? is this even for like a study on if being trans is related to autism? because it just isnt related, i believe being trans has to do with specific white/gray matter levels being different in the brain, which certainly isnt what autism is.

sorry if this is rude, but what do you mean "body fluids", like sweat? because that one i guess is fine, but like i really hope you dont mean what you would guess "body fluids" means, like i just bounce my leg when im stimming, or like spin around a stick i found outside.

(and yes i understand in that one youre talking about like 5 year old autistic people, because those are the ones that would do that, and arent like really *severly* disabled. sorry that part just really caught me off-guard)

happy autism acceptance month. this month, regardless if you're abled or disabled, allistic or autistic, try to consider if you really do accept people with autism. all aspects of autism. people who:

without volume control

talk to themselves or make sounds (seemingly) at random

have huge screaming meltdowns

stim any way, including smearing body fluids

only talk about one subject and will never "move on"

stare inappropriately

struggle with personal hygiene

are unemployed

who left education early ("dropped out")

has a carer and will always need one

don't use mouth words to communicate

have comorbid intellectual disability and don't want to separate that from their autism

autism acceptance month can't truly be about acceptance if we don't broaden our understanding of autism and confront our internal biases. these things listen above are normal parts of autism. sometimes very common. there's stigma around them, but that's stigma we can actively fight.

quick comment on the "spoke to animals like they were listening" thing, animals do understand tone, and that tone does include calmness and "speaking to someone you enjoy" tone, so claiming someone is stupid because the animal was unaware of the love someone is sending it is kinda an asshole thing to say. The animal is understanding what someone is saying, just not their words.

happy autism awareness day to all the girls who had “ friends” growing up who were actually bullying them . to the girls who always sat alone in the grass and wondered why nobody wanted to talk . to the girls who spoke to animals like they were listening . to the girls who created a little world in their room . to the girls who always felt ashamed for how deeply they love things and how passionately they enjoyed media . to the girls who covered their ears when they were overwhelmed by everything . to the girls who carrying a special thing around to feel safe . to the girls who never understood what they did wrong to feel so lonely . to the girls who were diagnosed later in life because they weren’t little boys who liked trains. you are so special and beautiful and you’re not worse for it, you love deeply and that is so wonderful please never try to push that down .
