Betts Ministries
If you are looking for blessing for the entire family this year, you need to check out Betts Ministries Live Nativity Play. It is an event this Christmas you do not want to miss! It is located in my hometown of Caney, Oklahoma. I first heard of the ministry three years ago and have been plugged in ever since.
First, I want to tell you about the special little lady over this ministry. She is such a strong woman of God. Someone whom I personally look up too. She believes whole heartedly in her ministry and has the heart of a servant. She wakes up at four every morning to start work. Her entire day is based around serving people through the Lord. I have never in my life met a harder worker than she. Doreen Betts is her name.
There are many great events that go on throughout the year, but the live nativity has been my favorite. This will be my third year to participate as Mary. There will be live animals to make the scene come alive. It is so real that it takes you back to the starry night Jesus Christ was born. People come from all over Oklahoma and Texas just to experience this.
Why should you come to the Christmas event? This is an easy one. There is free food. You know the kind of food your mom and grandma cook around Christmas: For example, the Oreo Cake Balls, Turtle Pretzels, and Popcorn Balls. All this will be there and more. What a more perfect evening than to go grab you a cup of warm apple cider, coffee, or hot chocolate and sit next to the big fireplace in the Treehouse, What is the Treehouse you ask? It is a beautiful lodge located at the ministry where we host the Live Nativity. It is furnished with beautiful log decor through the entire house. I can just imagine sitting in there right now and listening to the choir singing Christmas hymns.
As you walk through the nativity scene you will see all the characters from the bible story. There is baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph, the wise men, and last but not least the shepherds. Even the donkey Mary rode on is there. The kids will even have the opportunity to pet the donkey, sheep, goats, and baby calf. It is wonderful. Photography is also welcome as the show is taking place. We will also answer any questions about the bible story someone may have.
After you have finished the Nativity scene you are more than welcome to stay and have fellowship. Get your bellies full while listening to the Christmas Carols. We hope you are able to make it and I have attached the information below. There is lodging available at Betts Ministries and breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.
If you aren’t able to make it to the Live Nativity, feel free to check out some of the other events through the website below. We do group retreats, which are another one of my favorite events. I often help Mrs. Doreen serve at these events. There are three delicious home cooked meals a day. If you have free time during the day, I want to encourage you to walk through the prayer garden. There are bible verses written all the way through the wooded trail, which leads to the House of Praise.
The first Sunday of every month there is a Hallelujah Sunday at the House of Praise. People gather together to listen to the good ole gospel hymns along with other Christian favorites. I absolutely love bluegrass music and if this is your style of music, you need to come out and join us. We have a banjo player and a fiddle player, so you will feel right at home. We also allow others to sing and play if they have a special. The spirit of God never leaves this place.
There are also plenty of beautiful sights to see. There is a big metal cross that overlooks a pond. Behind the cross are miles of open pasture that you can see. If you walk through the prayer garden to the cross you will more than likely see deer. You want to go early in the morning to be able to see them though. It is a beautiful place where the spirit of the Lord is ever so present.
